Sorta OT: Ex Michigan QB Alan Bowman gets 7th year of eligibility
Think of the great stories he'll be able to tell his grand kids about being in college for 7 years! Even more awesome if he can earn his PhD as well.
OK State QB Alan Bowman has been granted an additional year of eligibility by the NCAA. Bowman who began at Texas Tech and got a master's degree from Michigan’s Ross School of Business, will be in his 7th season. Brilliant dude: https://t.co/iIua25snMhhttps://t.co/iIua25snMh

Bowman's grand kids actually may get to see him play at this pace.

A lot of people go to college for 7 years.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:01 PM ^
A lot of people would prefer to still be in college
January 4th, 2024 at 6:01 PM ^
Yeah. They’re called doctors Van!
January 4th, 2024 at 6:02 PM ^
Van Wilder was a 7th year senior.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:02 PM ^
Yeah…they’re called doctors.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:14 PM ^
And he actually might be one when he is done.
January 4th, 2024 at 8:48 PM ^
You mean Herbie Hancock.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:46 PM ^
...no it has to be your bull
January 4th, 2024 at 6:32 PM ^
I'd still be in college if I got paid to be there
January 4th, 2024 at 9:47 PM ^
you can always tell the MGoGenerations with this reference. Every time it comes up, the correct generation always gets the reference right, while millennials think it's Van Wilder, and boomers think Animal House, and some others don't even get it's a reference.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:33 PM ^
Or Tommy Boy
January 4th, 2024 at 11:21 PM ^
yes; that was implied under correct reference
surprised you didn't know that
i think your brain has a thick candy shell

Hey, brother, no shade on Senator Blutarski, please.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:03 PM ^
Well played, young man!
January 4th, 2024 at 6:04 PM ^
That MBA from Michigan alone was worth the transfer.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:18 PM ^
I think this was the degree referenced in the Athletic article:
https://michiganross.umich.edu/graduate/master-of-supply-chain-management
I wonder what he's doing at Okie State?
January 4th, 2024 at 6:37 PM ^
In my 20+ yr accounting career I needed to gain an intimate understanding of what it takes to be successful in a lot of different business roles. In supply chain: you can't be successful. You ordered too few, we lost out on sales! You ordered too many, that's just cash sitting in the warehouse collecting dust! Oh, quantity is dialed in... how are you sourcing it? They charge less, we're paying too much! Our quality metrics are brutal, why did you use such a cheap supplier!
Corporate scapegoats. I would never advise anyone to choose that field for their career.

I am a supply chain guy in pharmacy. I always tell the business guys who say things like this to look at what it was like before I arrived.

I believe Tuttle is trying to get an additional (medical) year (per On3 a week or so ago). Would be nice to have him in the QB room regardless of what JJ does.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:16 PM ^
My hot take based on very little information is that Tuttle is actually a pretty good QB and people would be surprised if he had to play for an extended period.
He has legs and he's looked pretty good on his few passing attempts this year. We could do way worse with a backup
January 4th, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
I believe he will stay regardless. It sounded like the plan is for him to be on staff if he doesn't get the waiver.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
I know some professional students who would be very jealous of this!
January 4th, 2024 at 6:06 PM ^
In other news he was fired as OC.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:40 PM ^
He'll be the first player with "Dr." on his jersey.
January 4th, 2024 at 6:41 PM ^
What is he 28 now?!
January 4th, 2024 at 7:12 PM ^
At least he has a Master’s degree. Stetson Bennett went to Georgia for 6 years and didn’t even get a bachelors. No skool for that Georgia hero….
PS. I kid you not…he did not graduate
January 4th, 2024 at 8:18 PM ^
He was too busy drunk door banging. Guy had no time to go to class.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:26 PM ^
It's if he did that would be the outlier.
January 4th, 2024 at 7:59 PM ^
More than once I have wondered, "Could I just go back to school and take out student loans until the day I die?"14 doctorates and $25M in debt just to die in a boating accident in the Maldives.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:05 PM ^
Good for him
if someone paid me to go to school I would never leave
January 5th, 2024 at 9:02 AM ^
I always thought that if I could go to college for the rest of my life it would be the best job ever. Now I am retired, and I realize that I have the best job possible.
January 4th, 2024 at 9:07 PM ^
Dude sat behind Moses in high school.
January 5th, 2024 at 5:54 AM ^
And while the other students were using an iPad, Moses preferred to work on a Tablet.
I'll show myself out ...
January 4th, 2024 at 9:18 PM ^
"There's a lot of people who go to college for seven years."
"They're called doctors."
January 4th, 2024 at 9:56 PM ^
Can he transfer back now?
January 4th, 2024 at 10:16 PM ^
Only if there is a relocation package.
January 4th, 2024 at 10:34 PM ^
This is good news for us...because Tuttle is trying to get his 6th year.
January 5th, 2024 at 2:33 AM ^
Okie and Arizona may be the dogs in a weird conference that stretches from Orlando to Tempe.

Article is a good read. This struck me about his transfer to Michigan from an air-raid to an under center offense. Shows why we need to be patient with young qbs:
“Now, you’re telling me that there’s four different footworks for inside zone? I had two left feet. I was worried about which foot to step with first much less trying to complete a pass. I was so lost in learning. I’m talking to some of my buddies and said, ‘It now makes sense why Pat Mahomes had to take a year in the NFLto develop. Going from an Air Raid offense and just being able to rattle off a play call with a check into it and being able to call two plays at once, being able to check protection at the line, being able to switch receivers, bring in a tight end to max protect against Cover 0, reverse out from under center, deep play-action worrying about where your hands and feet are so you know how to hide the ball and then where your eyes need to be.’

my first reaction was 'that is way too much time in school' but then I remembered NIL money
January 5th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
Great kid. Great news.
Thanks for posting.

Excellent! Go, Bowman! I liked watching some of his games this season.
