It doesn't get much better than this. Michigan is one late UNLV TD away from 15 straight shutout quarters.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:29 PM ^
MY HOT TAKE:
Maurice Hurst Jr. is good.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:58 PM ^
Amazing that if Mone wasn't injured, Hurst is probably your 3rd string NT. He could start on most FBS teams - including Michigan
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
I thought the defense was good.
October 3rd, 2015 at 4:00 PM ^
The D was exceptional. #HotTake
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
Defense is absolutely dominant. Bolden still seems like a liability after some poor plays in the first quarter, wouldn't mins seeing more Ross than Bolden. Hopefully Mario O is good to go for Northwestern.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
only 105 yds and 0 pts again. Just too good
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
So 2 straight shutout games, 8 straight shutout quarters, only one score allowed in the last 15 quarters.
I don't care who you're playing, that is....
Damn
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
to win the Big Ten, but our offense isn't.
We only have one more week to get better.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:30 PM ^
Does that # sound familiar?
2nd straight week!

I'm okay with it.

BAN ANYONE WHO COMPLAINS.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:32 PM ^
Absolutely love the D.
Desperately hope that Mario will be alright.

105 yards given up this week, 105 yards given up last week. Pretty damn good defensive team right now.

Elite. That best describes this team. They are just too good. Hope Mario is ok and be back in a few games.

to Ojemudia?
hope he has a good recovery

And he's played pretty decent in the time he's played this year.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
Looked like RJS took most of the snaps after Mario went out. D line was doing weird things at the end there, so not sure if that means anything going forward.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:33 PM ^
Two wins to bowl eligibility. Not to be taken for granted.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
Will Likely had more yards on kick and punt returns than Maryland had on offense.
October 3rd, 2015 at 10:38 PM ^
I thought this was hyperbole. It isn't. Likely had 91 yards on four kickoff returns and 23 yards on three punt returns.
Those aren't great numbers, especially by his standards... but they're more than their offense accumulated. That's... incredible.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:40 PM ^
Brhino had more trips to the multi-post hall of shame than Maryland had trips to the red zone.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:38 PM ^
Brhino had more double posts than Maryland had points.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:34 PM ^
Thank you defense. Absolutely incredible job on the road. I don't care who the opponent was. There were put in some bad situations and dominated again. Really worried about Ojemudia though.

Why does anyone try to throw it in his direction?
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:41 PM ^
What a stud!
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:42 PM ^
Defense is good but eventually I worry they won't be able to hold up this offense, particularly in the next two games.

Defense is good.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:45 PM ^
Like others, I am very concerned about Ojemudia - the crutches are normally a bad sign indeed, so hopefully we get some news soon.
A quick number - although the game seemed like it was dragging on second by agonizing second at points, Maryland managed only 105 yards on 62 plays, or 1.69 yards per play allowed, driven primarily by the wall that is our run defense - 1.12 yards per carry for the Terrapins this time around.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:48 PM ^
if the receiver holds onto the ball on the slant towards the end of the game.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:52 PM ^
I thunk he would have been tackled immediately, but this D is susceptible to the slant.
October 3rd, 2015 at 10:40 PM ^
The play was right in front of me. Everyone around me agreed that Michigan dodged a bullet*. The receiver appeared to have half a step on the DB, and I'm not sure the safety had an angle.
* Note: only as related to the shutout, of course. :-)

going to be sad guy when Durkin gets hired by a school to be a head coach after this season.

The defense is full blown blizzard worthy. Back to back shutouts AND teams held to 105 yards of total offense??? By comparison... Maryland got fuck stomped 45-6 last week and still managed 326 total yards.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:57 PM ^
The D is nasty
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:58 PM ^
We've been 4-1 and even 5-0 but somehow despite the concerns I actually feel better about this team than past ones - and defense is why.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:59 PM ^
He's so close to guys that they could share a jersey.
October 3rd, 2015 at 3:59 PM ^
Here's a hot take: the defense looks pretty good. /s
On a serious note, when's the last time we had consecutive shutouts?
October 3rd, 2015 at 5:05 PM ^
2000

When the sideline reported that Randy Edsall told his team "we can run on these guys, we did it last year against pretty much the same players."That couldn't have summed up the difference between Hoke and Harbaugh any more.
October 3rd, 2015 at 5:05 PM ^
Yeah I thought that was hilarious. Although at the time Maryland had had a couple decent runs.

but even great D's don't dominate those types of teams like that. I think we're solidly a top 10 unit, but I'm reserving 1997 and 2006 comparisons for now. The last 4 teams are fairly bad
October 3rd, 2015 at 4:12 PM ^
Played fine ..on to NU
October 3rd, 2015 at 4:15 PM ^
Best wishes to Super Mario. Hurry back.
October 3rd, 2015 at 4:19 PM ^
there is no special teams snowflakes, so I will just put it here.
O'Neil is such a stud and a luxury to have. FG kicking, though we missed one, has been pretty good overall considering the unknown when the season started.
no blocked punts, but constant pressure, and we've been. lose a few times.
I think Baxter hire has been noticeable and very beneficial.
