I've seen a lot of absolutely awful end-of-half drives, but that one was pretty much as hilariously inept as it gets. It was the Buffalo Bill of Monkey Rodeos.

This is over the top. Yeah, the delay of game on 4th and 1 was annoying. But 1) it's not like that's never happened to anyone before and 2) the officials screwed up the reset anyway.
September 13th, 2014 at 7:27 PM ^
only a bunch of idiots would make end of half decisions like that time and time again.
bye. hoke. bye.
September 13th, 2014 at 6:47 PM ^
They made a mistake in the first half so they all need to go, obviously.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:55 PM ^
Hoke also didn't reveal any information in the post-game presser, which shows that he hates the fans.
EDIT: /s was implied.

I understand that you get frustrated with some of the over-the-top negative reactions some people have, but you've gone way too far in the other direction.
September 13th, 2014 at 11:18 PM ^
I've forgotten that until this point, Brady Hoke was unblemished as head coach.
September 13th, 2014 at 6:47 PM ^
The coaches had a good week of preparation. I don't think I've seen them as ready for a big home game vs a MAC doormat as they were today. Sound fundamentals. I could hear the sounds of real football.

We were just being Old Blue gentlemen, keeping them in the game until the waning moments of the fourth.
September 13th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
Marcus did bring up the 1995 game where we lead 31-0 and it finished 38-19.
September 14th, 2014 at 8:54 AM ^
I was at that game. And yes it was typical Michigan. We, historically, never cover the spread.

We should be so lucky. Bo Pelini has won either 9 or 10 games in each of the 6 seasons he has been a head coach (3 seasons with 9 wins; 3 seasons with 10 wins). Hoke has reached that level 1 time in his 3 years at Michigan. Including his stints in the MAC and the MWC, he has won at least 9 games in 3 seasons out of 11. 1/3 < 6/6 (in Big Ten). 3/11 < 6/6.

I will not be satisfied if we top out under Hoke as Pelini under Nebraska. OK, he's won 9 or 10 games, which isn't great but good, but he's also coaching in this shitty conference.

No one on the coaching staff is assigned to watching the clock?
I get that mistakes are made by the refs but in an important situation you need to have someone watching the play clock and ready to call for the timeout.
I know I know its Miami and they were leading but there is the only "practice how you play" mentality.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:32 PM ^
They had a great week of practice, I hear.
September 13th, 2014 at 9:23 PM ^
there already is such a person. It's the QBs job. Always. That said, it's fairly common to see a sideline timeout to save the penalty, but in this situation, the clock restart was so mucked up I don't think it ever occurred to anyone to look.

I don't think they did get screwed by the refs. I think Nuss was just too lackadaisical and didn't pay attention to the play clock starting. Even though it sucked for Michigan, I wish the refs would do that more often. If it's a 30 second time out, why should the offensive team get to stretch it out even longer, just because the coaches want to keep talking to the players?

Gardner heaved the ball as far as he could to overthrow Chesson in the endzone.

I've thought this for the past six years or so.
It has never once been true.
So yeah, it kinda sounds dumb. :)

Agree, that is a counter play to all the bubble screens, and worked to perfection.

That we weren't talking about how great the coaching was after getting destroyed by ND.

I was actually referring to how Devin sold teh fake, but clearly Butt did a great job too. And I completely agree with you about the coaching comment. That was an example of GREAT coaching.

since we've seen an actual constraint play used in a game. I rubbed my eyes. Good job Nuss.

I'd like them to install a semi hurry up offense for when we may need it.

There was one completely random play where we got to the line with like 32 on the play clock and snapped at about 20. And then never went back to it, except for the play that forced the Miami timeout during the debacle of a two minute drill.
