Sam Webb on D Hart

Submitted by Dreisbach1817 on

"I don't know if my gut-feeling has changed."

Basically he hasn't spoken to Hart yet.  This is basically "I have no new news."

But... he's already hyping Rawls.

Looks like the douchy board police are out in full force this morning.  If someone asks Sam Webb about an important recruit, I think that's worth the five seconds it took me to read this.

It isn't an update.  Sam didn't have any new information (hence the "I don't know"), and neither does the OP.

This was just Sam stating that to his knowledge, Dee Hart didn't commit to Auburn this weekend, thereby negating the silent commitment to strong interest in Michigan that is denoted by Sam's "gut feelings." This is not new.  We knew this.

I like to listen to the recruiting roundup on WTKA.  But, I work at 7:30 on Mondays, so I don't get to hear it on the way in.  After reading the Hart thread last night, I figured someone would ask what Sam thought.  Sam didn't have a real answer, but that doesn't change the fact that it's something I would have been listening too and have been interested in.

Given the level of tiny detail, rumor, and speculation that gets discussed on this board, I think jumping all over this guy for this post (especially in the "look at me" way people were doing it) is unnecessary and uncalled for.

Perhaps I should have clarified; the info wasn't necessarily the problem. There is already a thread active and discussing this topic:  http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/hart-loves-auburn-visit.  This would have made a wonderful comment, but it makes a shitty stand-alone thread.

To start a new thread based on Sam Webb admitting he doesn't have any new information is a little, shall I say, Burgundy-esque:

I think the OP probably meant well, but the information in his post is small enough that he probably could've let everyone know the content of his post in the subject line.  Something along the lines of: "Same Webb hasn't talked to DHart"

Then, the rest of his post could've been about "gut feeligs" and what not, and nobody gets hurt.

Yes but then where does it stop? The entire point of having rules and regulations on posting is to increase the signal:noise ratio. If the "pricks" on this board don't set someone straight when they post something incorrectly, then the board starts to devolve.

The best part of MGoBlog is that usually we don't have to worry about "ignoring" very much.

The pictures of cats, tubes, and whatnot are all cool but notes about football need to be stopped?  Eh, I guess everyone has their own opinion.  I'd much rather learn that Sam Webb hasn't changed his gut feeling yet than see a photo of a mouse or a link to ghostbusters.

Couldn't agree more in fact.

As if 200 meme-oriented graphics, innuendos, co-signs etc. are substantial contributions. While I agree with the sentiment, I really don't need 50 permutations of 'haters gonna hate' graphics.

To post that Webb, who typically has a finger on the pulse of M recruiting and had previously indicated a positive gut-feeling with regard to Hart's status, did not have any new information at a time when said recruit wouls seem to be waivering, is useful to me.

Yes. Yes. Yes.  A more true statement has rarely been spoken.

Why does anyone has a problem with this thread?  I didn't have a chance to listen to the podcast, so it's nice to see a quick, simple recap.  It's much better than searching through old board posts to see if comment #113 might reference Sam's show.  Of course, the same people who feel the OP's update to be a waste of their time have also taken the time to post pictures of important things like cats and tubes.  So...take their criticism with a grain of ironic salt.

OP - Don't let the Dungeon Master mentality of some on this board deter you.  Your update was appreciated.

as if 15-20 snarky replies telling the OP the same thing are somehow more productive. If you are so worried about the wasting of your time......

The irony of it is, while I understand the concerns of those that seek to enforce the rules and mores of the board and their paranoia that it not turn into M-live, the zeal with which they do it and the condescing manner in which they approach it only serve to make it more like M-live in terms of vitriol.

In this case, a single, helpful reminder to a realtive newbie poster to perhaps maske the thread title more informative is all that is needed.

This blog has some of the most pretentious and self-important jerks on it that i have ever seen. No...its not MLive.....but its close sometimes.

I have read this blog for a very long time before registering to post. Not sure why i bothered.

This whole points system has led to some real asses thinking that their opinion is somehow much more important than anyone else's based just on their point total. And its usually the same jerks over and over. I have no doubt some good posters have been chased away just because they did not want to deal with the massive ego's we have at this site.

Just because you have tons of points does not make you smarter than a poster with 44 points. I have read some really asinine comments from posters with 15k points....and some really good comments from people with almost none.

This constant negging of people and talking down to them is pitiful. Yea...neg the trolls...but stop trying to show everyone how smart you are because you have 20 thousand points. All they really mean is that you have lots of free time to make posts.  Nothing more.

He said he would not change his gut-feeling until he talked to Hart. HIs main hope is rooted in the passage of time between Hart's visit and his decision time; the longer he delays the decision, the more the glow of the Auburn experience will fade, or so he hopes.

Don, you beat me to it. The atmosphere at the Clemson-Auburn game had to be incredible with a night game with an overtime win. All big time for a big time recruit to see. What's not to like. Michigan just needs to continue to take care of business on the field. The one thing we have going for us is that his family has visited here and they all loved the Michigan coaches and felt good about him coming here. I didn't hear or see anything about his family visiting Auburn with him. Give it a week or two and the shine of the Auburn game will have faded a bit.

I was at the AU-Clemson game this weekend.  No question it was a great atmosphere.  When Clemson jumped out to their early lead I was pretty pumped because I thought it would be a good thing for the crowd to be "out of the game" when it came to Hart's experience.  Of course Auburn clawed their way back in, and Clemson's crappy reciever dropped a TD pass to seal it and the crowd was pretty wild in OT.  They have another tough game against South Carolina in Auburn this weekend.  I'm sure Hart will be following this one closely.  Hopefully the ol' ball coach and Marcus Lattimore can lay the wood and take some of the luster off Auburn.

I wish I taken the time away from tailgating to go down the the Tiger Walk and give Dee a "Go Blue" when he walked by...assuming they let the recruits walk w/ the team.  Oh well.

Everyone knows that Dyer is a big time frosh TB for AU.  But I didn't realize that McCalebb was only a Sophmore.  And McCalebb is a more shifty back like Hart.

Webb said that some reports indiciate that a decision could be made this week.  I doubt that will happen.  Impending Hart commitments has been the norm.  If this goes 2-3 weeks, we look better and better (so long as we win..).

Don to the rescue - if the OP had said that Webb sounds less confident, that his overall impression of Webb this morning is that he might want to, but cant change his gut feeling "yet", then he would have provided something of interest.  It seems that there is something to take away from Webb's show, it's just that the OP did a poor job communicating just what that was. Don saved the thread.

If I recall correctly, I believe that Dee has said he almost committed to Michigan several times in the past. Why should we look at his comments about Auburn any differently. The kid is 18 and probably just enjoying the process. I have no idea where he will end up, but I think we quickly forget that he has done this before.
