Rutgers game thread
No reason to accept a NIT bid when all of your young guys are leaving anyway. Unless you sit Bufkin, Jett, and Hunter and let Reed, yo-yo, and Barnes play the whole game.
We have no idea if any of those guys are leaving. Especially not Kobe
Hunter has absolutely zero NBA potential. So he could go I guess, but I don't know where
Europe.
Where was Kobe today? Didn’t expect much from anyone else than Hunter and Kobe.
Stephen Bardo- "let's remember the 49 second mark to see if Michigan even scores again".
The basketball program should be alot better.
Juwan's hiring sparked by media influence was a mistake.
Anybody saying otherwise is acting in blind faith and fooling themselves.
Even if he fails, which hasn't happened in a final way yet, it doesn't mean the initial choice was wrong. He was a great player and great NBA assistant who seemed like he'd be a great recruiter. That's a solid resume
With 0 head coaching experience. Seemes like a no brainer on the No end at the time imo.
Welcome to off topic season ladies and gentlemen.
Let's talk gravy and countertops!
I said it when all you slappies we’re excited about our draw of Rutgers & Purdue. This team has sucked and isn’t getting better. Fire Juwan, right now, because next year with no HD Michigan won’t be over .500
Since it’s over now….Frankie Collins & Brandon Johns would’ve started on this team!!!! We pushed those dudes out the door but they would’ve been contributors for this squad.
We didn't push them. They knew a sinking ship when they saw one.
All season I've been fine giving Coach another year. But there's some obvious roster & coaching problems, and this game shows complete lack of effort in a "must-win" game. No excuse - even if guys are thinking about the NBA.
Another odd observation: Coach always stands away from his assistants during the game & they all sit down. And during timeouts, it's always him drawing up the play & sitting in the center. You never see assistants doing that work. Clearly looks like he's keeping his assistants at an arm's distance. Weird. On to next season, Go Blue.
Nice observation. Some of his assistants feel the same way.
*whistles a tune, ashes cigarette, and saunters off into the alley, taking deliberate, elongated steps with head down.
Holy shite!!!
I have no intelligent comments, but I really wanted a chance to say "shite"!
I can’t wait for the snowflakes thread
Can't we just lose gracefully?
You'd think so. After all, we're getting an awful lot of practice at it.
Without checking season stats did dug even have 50 assists for the season? Like someone else mentioned for a little guy with good handles how did he never set someone up for an easy dunk all year? Look no further than your head coach.
It helps if your teammates know how to dunk.
Piss-poor effort. You're in the 1st game of the tournament after a full season & this team still doesn't know how to attack a zone?! Carelessness with the ball throughout the game, missed assignments, basic boxing out, bad coaching!
Go to the NIT & get more practice time, this season is mercifully a wrap, but next season this young squad should contend for the B10 title with key returns. Go Blue!
Even if Kobe comes back(Hunter & Jett depart) this squad still will be pretty bad next season:
C- Reed/Kante
PF- Tschetter/T-Will
SF- Barnes/Howard
SG- Bufkin/Washington III
PG- McDaniel/Llewelyn
doesn’t look like a contender to me
Key returns are Hunter, Kobe & Jett.
jett, kobe, dug combined 4-18 with 10 TOs. pathetic.
don't forget the ghost
Now Kobe shows up
Jett Howard is a fraud, please stay in the draft, our TEAM was worlds better when he wasn't available
62-50 R FINAL
Official time of death:
2:08 PM
March 9 2023
WE HIT 50!!
4 for 21 in the second half.
19%
In a must win game.
There are no words.
How'd we ever make 4?
Its a miracle.
Blew our wad @ Illinois and Indiana. Just had a feeling this was going to happen.
Juwan is much too passive to coach college kids. There is no fire.
His teams play sloppy and error prone because he allows it.
Could you imagine Gene Keady or Bob Knight or Coach K with this team?
The piss poor play you saw in December might still happen in March, but it would be with different players if it did.
I was actually just thinking at the start of this game how much I hate those annoying coaches screaming and gesturing and coming out on the floor and how I'm glad he's not like that. Do you think it's really necessary? I don't remember Beilein being that way
Beilein was calm. But he was not passive.
He did not let teenagers just keep doing whatever teenagers felt like doing.
You've been to several practices?
There is no reason for this team to be this bad. It's not being young and bad luck that makes a team this fucking bad.
Inexperience and bad luck doesn't make you hit one shot over the curse of 15 minutes.
Looking kinda ass last year and straight up this year doesn't buy you a ton of times. Next year, you need to firmly be in the tournament and if there's any talk of the bubble, axe him. Even if he loses people from this team, his job is to prevent it and fix it, especially with the portal.
I know " the curse of 15 minutes " is a typo but a great one !
Thanks god it’s over and I don’t have to watch the death throes and soft gurgling from the mouth as the season breathes its last breath any longer.
season has been poopy from the start.
This is exactly where I've been as I read people breaking down what all needs to happen for UM to make the tourny. Let it die and move on. Why prolong the misery?!
