Rumor that Jake Rudock, Iowa QB, is transferring to Michigan.

Submitted by Ares on

This information today is brought to you by Scout.com. He's a fifth year so he wouldn't have to sit out and would bring even more competition to the position. If Harbaugh hired Gruden as OC the team would be half Quarterbacks. My opinion on the matter is that seeing as how this is the most important position on a football team, thus making or breaking a team in a lot of aspects, I hope this is true.

I'm all for competition at all positions, but I don't have a good feeling about adding all these QBs, other than the conclude that Harbaugh doesn't have much faith in the current stable.  It probably doesn't bode well for the QBs he inherited if there's literally going to be 5 QBs this year and 6-7 next year.

Whatever it takes to win.

If the best option next year is Rudock, or hell, even a true freshman, I don't care. Whoever puts us in the best position to win football games, that's who needs to play.

I trust Harbaugh until he gives us a reason to think otherwise. And given his track record with QBs, we have zero reason to doubt Harbaugh right now.

I just want a QB to separate themselves. My guess is if rudock really comes to UM it will be either him or Speight. I won't count Morris out either, but I'm not a huge fan of lefty's at the QB position. Im worried that morrs' confidence maybe shattered or low. I hope he has a new sense of confidence with Jim and Jedd teaching him.

The merrier!  I would like to see more competition and hopefully that lad who rises to the top will be one good QB for us next season. In Harbaugh I trust to coach us up a couple good QB next season.

Shane won't be the starter this fall, I just don't see him leaving Michigan, especially for a MAC school.  He's reportedly been a life-long Michigan fan and nothing he's said or done indicates he's one to "throw in the towel" and leave.

Like others have said, Shane hasn't yet had any coaching at the high caliber that we now have at Michigan.  On top of that, he lost almost his entire HS senior year while done with mono.  Coach Harbaugh has always been about competing for the position; each and every QB eligible to compete for the starting job, Shane included, has about 6 months to prove himself worthy.

You should read what you wrote, it's f-ing crazy dumb. You really won't believe it. You used a thing called McNown and Campbell to say Borges was a good QB coach. Seriously, you did. Man if you read this you'd think you are such an idiot. It's hilarious.

Not saying Borges is or isn't a good qb coach but you do realize McNown was a consensus all American, led the country in pass efficiency as a junior, led the team to a 20 game win streak with that high powered offense, finished 8th as a junior and 3rd as a senior in the Heisman, and finished his career as the all time pac 12 leader in total offense right? You are acting like he was a joke when in reality we would all kill for that kind of qb play.

All facts. Undeniable. They both are not the type of QB that lights up your resume. Harbaugh puts Luck, Smith and Kap on his. You then ask anyone to judge the two. I think you know where that lands. Add to The Borges resume Tony Graziani, Denard Robinson, the passer, and one Devin Gardner. Im sure QB guru screams from the paper. The point, again, McNown looked good in a defense less PAC-10. Same for Campbell when he was in the SEC. Neither panned out once defense was actually played. College stats are often a joke. A good QB coach has talent that sustains. Borges is not a good one.

I was in Morris corner when Devin was waffling...then I felt Morris was immature with all this "sugar" Shane Twitter crap. But for him to leave now after the concussion thing? No way. He will give it a go and has just as good a chance as the rest, if not the favorite.

I'll believe it when I see it.  This has been floating around for some time, but I wonder if it is coming more from Rudock's side than Michigan's.  I mean, they know their scholarship situation, there really isn't anything that will change that situation between now and the beginning of the year.

Rudock's stats look fine, but his ypa is only slightly better than Gardner's this year, and so his accuracy feels in part the result of short passes with moderate risk.  Nothing wrong with that, but at the same time it wouldn't hurt Michigan to see what they have with Malzonne and Morris and try to start that process versus taking a 1-year flyer on a guy and just kicking the QB can down the road a season.  I can see them going either way, but I wouldn't find it weird if this turns out to be nothing more than speculation.

Is 2nd in the bgtn in completion %, 1st in fewest interceptions, back to back years on the all bgtn academic team.  What's not to like here.  Even if you have 15 talented strong armed QBs why not add some experience if you can get it.  People are forgetting injuries can affect team's in a big way particularly at this position.
