Rose Bowl - predict your winner

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
It's a little early, but ever mention of OSU, Oregon, Pryor, or just about anything else seems to garner a "OSU is going to get killed" or "people are underestimating OSU". So let's hear it- who do you think is going to win, why, and if you care, by how much? Not to ask and not back it up, while I am a little worried about Pryor's leg (and arm...and head...), I'll stick with my original talk and say the continual underestimating of OSU and everyone telling Oregon how much they're going to win by is going to put out the up and down Ducks, and OSU's defense keeps it close enough for a big bowl game score to take the lead at the end. They almost did it against Texas, and will unfortunately pull it out against the lesser Oregon team, ending years of delicious failure in big bowl games. Not sure on points, but I'll begrudgingly say 23-21.

doesn't defend the spread very well and their DB is pretty slow. RR knew about it but couldn't exploit it because Tate had a bad game at the worst time when he came off from having 2 straight good games. Our WRs keep getting open in nearly every passing plays(I was at the game live), but Tate couldn't take advantage of it. Oregon offense is better than Michigan. OSU will have trouble defending against Oregon's speed. Oregon wins 35-10.

I hope that Ohio State gets beat like a drum from opening kick off till the final whistle. When they beat Iowa in OT to punch their ticket to Pasadena I wanted to throw up. Their fight song is like hearing nails on a caulk board, I hope someone runs on the field and decks the tuba player while he dots the 'i'.

this is a tough call part of me thinks this game is all Oregon if they stop Pryor from running the ball everywhere. the other part of me thinks that the Buckeye front 7 are going to manhandle Oregon's OL. regardless, im a Duck fan for 4 hours that day.

rooting for the Ducks after '03 and '07. Then again, fuck the Buckeyes. Then again, fuck the Ducks and their diva uniforms. I hope a bear eats them all.

The "other" Oregon team forgot to show up for their bowl game. USC didn't exactly maul an avg BC team. The ducks got ambushed by Boise, gave up a million points to the Cards. CAL what happened? Oregon better be very careful with the Bucks.

Winner: Columbus, whose local state university will ride defense and turnovers to a 23-10 win. A massive orgy of spelling will ensue. Losers: The rest of us, for having to deal with Kirk Herbstreit calling the game.

As a UM Fan in Austin Texas, I have quickly learned to root for the Big Ten as everybody outside the Midwest considers the Big Ten to be a lower conference than the Big East. Also - after watching the Oregon Oregon State game, Oregon was faced with a lot of 3rd and short and 4th and shorts... and Oregon State would Miss tackles... Ohio State isn't going to miss tackles.. I'm calling Bucks in a nail biter.

I rooted for tOhio State for the cause of the Big Ten in 2006 vs. Florida and they rewarded me harshly. I began the game rooting for tOhio State in 2007 vs. LSU and concluded the game laughing at them. I will now root for Oregon or any team that EVER plays against Ohio State because I hate them, Justin Boren, Robert Reynolds, Jim Tressell, his bomb-sniffing dogs (remember those?) and the clowns in Columbus who poop in coolers. I hate them all and hope they will be trounced by Oregon and then punched by LeGarrette Blount and laughed at by Phil Knight.

I am now where you were in 2007... At least is not the "Hometown" Texas Longhorns playing them again - Colt McCoy could go to the hospital down here and punch babies and nobody would care... I have a feeling that if they lose, it's going to be Root for the Big Ten except Ohio State.

Ohio State needs to show up for this game. The results from this bowl season affect Michigan football, yeah it's awesome for rivals to not have anything to talk about, but how awesome would it be if Michigan makes a run in the next couple of years, yet no pollster cares because we're in the Big Ten. Don't think conference perception matters? Ask Cincinnati how much that has affected them in the past couple of weeks, or Boise State, or TCU. And on the flip side, ask Texas what it's like to average-perform their way through the most over hyped conference of all time and get a pass to the NC in a pool of unbeatens. [/sidebar] Other than reasons listed in the rant above, I believe Ohio State can win this game if they get their running game on track. In their last couple of games they found the right amount of privileges to give Pryor in order to get a good output in that offense. Heck, they might even run more zone read after they saw what it can do against Michigan, which would be a creative twist. Their defense is always given credit for being creative, if they can pair that with playing like their hype, they could handle Oregon. Oregon doesn't like being ran at defensively. But, these are obviously all hopeful things to say, and for the record, with things on the line, I took Oregon, because it can't be disputed that they look like the better team.
