crap you are posting....In this day and age, especially at a University that is so diverse, why is this even a subject of criteria/characteristics to discuss??? I was hoping to see some follow up on your posts.... indicating you were being sarcastic and making jokes.... but I dont see it..... thus.. I dont see the relevance of your comments.

You don't have to be so politically correct that you can take a guess as to a person's race when hearing their name, right? Zoltan Mesko Martavious Odoms Yes there are many times when we guess wrong, but you can still make the Malcolm Gladwell - blink guess. It doesn't make you racist - just a speculator. Bill Simmons even has an all-star team for white guys with "african-american" names.

Are you guys serious? I dont know... I really like this forum... but these comments are out of line... the "Simmons" list.. ok... making fun... that's fine... but if you read the other comments... sorry... I just dont see the relevance in the "color" comments... Maybe I am too old for this blog/forum... Maybe the intended demographics Brian has does not include Alumni, season ticket holders for 25+ years.... and that I should just ignore rascially driven comments, yet keep reading the blog.. Hmmmn.. something to consider. We'll see. It's obvious other hitting me up with negative points also feel it is okay to bring race into the discussion, even if no relevance. that's really too bad.

on a blog discussing American football is not the place to be seeking racial equality. Your hope is noble. However, people make determinations. Most people named Tracy are women. That's a fact. You're not sexist because you made that determination and later found out you're talking about a talented (but crocked) basketball player for the Rockets. You're not racist if you first thought that a soccer player named Zlatan Ibrahimovic was from Croatia. He's not, though - he's from Sweden. That's how it goes. I don't think you're racist if you initially make the uninformed leap that a guy named Denard Robinson may just be African American, or that a guy named Joe Boisture from Saline High School may be Caucasian. If you're wrong, well, so?

Look.... I am the furthest person to push an agenda like that and extremely loose with my own Archie Bunker type opinions concerning race... so pushing that type of agenda... I do not... I just found that posts 10 and 11 and the follow ups did not have relevance... had no sarcasm, no jokes, nothing attached to it..(If it did... I would have laughed along)... until YOU defended it with a Simmons list/name reference.... And I find it surprising that in this day and age, a blog that I hold in esteem has people post with that type of crap on it.... so... you can go on thinking that I have some uber type agenda....but reality is...post 10 and 11 do not have a place on a blog like this. Period. as info... I am white, late 40's, UM grad, first generation American, parents from E. Europe and Germany, born and raised in the Bronx, NY..... not that it matters.... because you already probably knew by my name that I am white...as I am not on the Simmons list and it is impossible to have a black, with a Slavic name.

You're being a massive, whiny douche. Nobody is saying "We don't want a goddamn CRACKER this team" or making any other racial slurs. I think you live in fantasy world, because if you have a meeting scheduled with a client named "LaTroy Jackson" and you go to find an old white man, you're going to be surprised, like a normal person. Also, much like bouje, trying to flaunt your degree or your season tickets is idiotic. Get off your high horse.

Or a member of a student group? Sorry, just being sarcastic. But I honestly don't get how a humorous response along the lines of what was said here would be offensive to you. Were any of them perpetuating racial stereotypes? Saying or implying something derogatory about a certain group? Every one of those comments were meant in jest, and none of them implied anything negative about any group-with the possible exception of caucasians. What specific comment was a problem for you?

ur shiting me if you think race doesnt have anything to do with football...... Name me the last greatest black punter/kicker. How about great white running back. White cornerback? (Seahorn being the only one i can think of) Just because a black person plays QB/Punter/Kicker doesnt mean he sucks. Its all about talent not race.0

Discussing race is not the same as being racist. If that were the case, all sociologists would be major bigots. People were making an observation about a particular recruit and his name. No epithets were used. No one said anything along the lines of "we have too many black players on our team" or "we need more black players on our team" or anything like that. The only remark that I could construe as even slightly racist was the person saying that he was less excited about Rush when he found out he was white. Who does that offend? White people? I doubt it. I get where you're coming from, but this is about a 2 on the 1-10 racist scale.

whitey. Maybe if his penis wasn't so small, or if he could jump a little higher, or if he didn't like country music so much he wouldn't get all bent out of shape over the clearly innocent, sarcastic nature of those comments:) Hey, if the comments were truly offensive I would be right on board with bashing them, but I really didn't read anything like that into anything that was said.
