Recent injury situations, Michigan, OSU, Illinois

Submitted by b618 on November 13th, 2022 at 3:58 AM

For Michigan, latest (and I hope very temporary injuries) are Edwards (played a couple plays, then was out for the rest), Schoony (didn't play today), Morris (some sort of leg pain late in the game today).  Various others (Keegan, Jones, Paige) -- not sure of status there.

OSU lost Miyan Williams in today's game.  The tackle where it happened didn't look too bad, but he seemed to suffer a lower-leg injury, and was driven off in a cart.  TreVeyon Henderson was already out, wearing a boot on his foot still today.  Jaxon Smith-Njigba didn't play in the Indiana game.

Illinois lost Chase Brown in today's game.  It didn't look minor, unfortunately for the kid.

Donovan's value, specifically the way our offense is struggling in the passing game, is to be spread out as a slot receiver.

The dropoff from Blake to Donovan as just a back toting the rock is pretty obvious, but D Edwards is a huge factor in the passing game.  We will need him in Cbus, and if healthy, I would not be surprised to see us with the 2 backs in there at the same time, where we motion DE out as a WR.

Bert rode Chase Brown hard, to the tune of ~30 carries/game.  Which kinda sounds familiar...  I mean, it's not fair to blame that on Bert if we're not riding Harbaugh to slow down Blake's pace.  Is Brown Illinois' offense?  Yes.  But the same can be largely said of Michigan.  I LOVE watching Blake run - best back I can clearly remember at Michigan and the Heisman is a real possibility.  But I do sometimes wish the offense could be a little more diverse...

Yep, I've been saying this for most of the conference schedule. The attitude should have been, "we need to pass because we need to be better at passing", not "we don't need to pass, so we won't".

We will need to pass, and I'm not convinced we will be able to effectively at this point. Everything in the pass game is out of sync. Receivers are off, QB is off (including now making incorrect zone reads), and the timing isn't there, either.

It's not gonna get turned around in a week. It's going to be Michigan running versus OSU passing. I sure hope we can handle 8 in the box.

It’s mostly lan urban legend that coaches hold back segments of their offense to surprise another team.  Generally, they add a wrinkle or two each week based on any weaknesses they think they can exploit against the opposing team.  Rather than hold back segments, they put them on film and force the opposing teams to prepare for them.
OSU and UM will have wrinkles they add during hate week, but there is no portion of the offense they have had in their back pocket for the last 10 weeks.

harbaugh needs to do much better in this area.  if youre not gonna pull all your starters most teams have a solid nucleus they should protect late in games.  few good reasons for one of your top players to still be out there in that situation - of course the guys want to play but sense must prevail.

theyve had teams diving at corums legs up 3-4 scores with 3-4 minutes left.  i dont know how a coach defends that

That wasn't a cramp, I'm not sure what you saw, but he was in pain for awhile after the play was over. It was weird, but it looked like he went up in the stands after he left the game, because they showed him limping down the stairs back on to the sidelines.

Adjectives, it is a pet peeve of mine.

  • Bad, adjective  That injury looks bad.
  • Worse, the comparative form of bad used to compare two things,  His injury looks worse than the other one's.
  • Worst, the superlative form of bad comparing more than two things.  His injury looks bad while this other guy's injury looks worse but, this injury is the worst one of the three.

Twitter is the last place I'd go for news and info right now.

It's sad.

And now the big thing is to "screen capture" instances of users with imitation accounts saying outlandish stuff.

Except the screenshots are just photoshop. And so it's an imitation of an imitation account.

It's like Inception.

Jesus Christ, WindyCityBlue. Do better.

Roscoe Village, here.

Anyway, it has nothing to do with that.

1. Now people can pay $8, get a checkmark and claim to be a person or entity that they are not.

2. Now people screenshot something that people with blue checks have...share it. Only they didn't screenshot the real account.

3. Now because people are screenshoting, others are creating fake screenshots by photoshopping tweets when there isn't even a fake account.

4. Now real reputable sources, ones that you and I trust...are retweeting and quoting fake accounts and fake tweets at an alarming rate, because they're getting tricked by the blue check.

Did you not see the insulin deal this past week? Real life shit is being impacted by this because people DO consider Twitter to be a news source (myself included). But it's harder now more than ever to wade through the garage and one mistake by one person can release a cascade of misinformation. That's a problem.

So fuck your sarcasm. Go Cubs.

I’m sorry, but anyone who goes to Twitter for credible information (pre or post Elon) is just plain stupid. YOU can do better MaizeBlueAA if you were duped by someone on Twitter.  If you got your degree at Michigan, then you slept through the part of college when they taught you how to think critically.

Besides, Twitter never was meant to be a place for credible information anyway. If that was the case, then they never should have given you an account.

No. I wasn't not duped.

But people are is my point.

And so you're calling a lot of people on this board...stupid. Including the people who responded to me who thought I was calling them stupid for using Twitter to get news.

Which isn't exactly why I wasn't knocking people who get news and info from Twitter.

But rather I was calling attention to how much worse things have gotten in the past couple of weeks and how much MORE misinformation is being spread.

How did we get here?

People thought I was calling them stupid for using Twitter for news, which I didn't...and then you outright DO call them stupid.

----

But you can miss me with the rest of your bullshit post because it doesn't apply to me. I'd never use social media for anything more than what it is. But if you can't acknowledge something that is today's reality whether it was intended to be or not, that's your ignorance. Or, sorry, stupidity.

No. It never has been. Social media is fucked and always has been.  It’s the reason people walk around filming themselves doing the most mundane, nonsensical shit nobody should care about just do they can get imaginary, virtual “friends” and “likes”. Down vote me to eternity. I don’t give a shit.

And get the fuck off my lawn!

I'm agreeing with you, most people do as well.

But if you haven't been following the past couple of weeks. That is changing and there are "credible" sources saying outlandish things except its not actually the source you think it is.

So for that fact...I would caution anyone from considering Twitter a news outlet right now.

Because it's very easy to deceive someone and that credible source that you trust could very easily be reciting something that is completely made up.

It's happening like crazy right now.

I'm not sure why so many of you got offended by something that is fact, lol...but my apologies if I could've worded it to be less offensive.

From the stands, I thought cramp as well. Usually guys grab at their knee or ankle if that's what it is. His leg was straight out, and then he suddenly popped up and hobbled off the field. With it being late in the game, it'd make sense. Might just be wishful thinking though.

Got to hope these guys are all ready in two weeks. You’d like to think they won’t be needed next week and can hold them out as a precaution if need be. But if they’re not available in Columbus, that is…..problematic.

I’m hoping whatever DE had isn’t serious. I saw several shots of him still on the sidelines with his helmet on so from my untrained eye, it looks like he could’ve played if it was necessary. Morris, I’m not so sure about. He looked like he was still limping when he came out of the tent.
