Rampant Edge of Internet Rumor Mongering Re: Harbaugh

Submitted by alum96 on

Both Henson and Moss (YTM) have for some reason become much more positive about Harbaugh in the last 15 minutes.  Henson was already very positive but just went "way more positive" and Moss (who Brian did not shoot down as a source a few weeks ago) said "I was never convinced that Jim Harbaugh was coming here until about 15 minutes ago."

The "crowned one" says 8 years, 49 mil (6.125 a year) is the deal.  That would make sense - puts him in the "top 5" of NCAA coaches (#2 behind Saban) as Brian reported he wishes.  And a $1M+ bump vs NFL salary.

Some connection to the Moeller stuff but seems like something happened in addition in the last 15 minutes.  The Moeller stuff has been going on for 48 hrs - it would be strange for that to be a "new" surprise to 2 guys focused so intently on this hire within a 15 minute time span.

Again, "edge of internet" so eat your salt.

It's happening?

EDIT 11:20 PM EST - more Henson rumor mongering is Harbaugh looking at DJ Durkin as DC.  He is current interim coach of UF and served 2 years under Muschamp as DC.  Connection to Harbaugh = special teams coach for Stanford in 07-09.  36 years old (!).

Durkin is a Youngstown (!) OH boy, who has tons of Midwest ties via Bowling Green, Notre Dame in 2001-2006 as a GA and position coach.  Been at Florida since 2010.

This is an old story bouncing back on itself.  Henson is referencing the Andy Moeller tweet from last week where Harbaugh allegedly said "looks like we're getting the band back together" and posting it like it's new information.  Then Henson gets picked up, sited as a source by other people and suddenly the rumor has legs because mulitple people are reporting it.

It's an echo chamber guys.  Take a deep breath everyone and step back from the F5 key

This was my first thought as well but this was not something new (been out there for 48 hrs) and it would be "strange" that they both discovered something now well known at the same time in the past 20 minutes.

But yes perhaps the echo chamberr.

That said... I like smoke.  Lots of smoke. ... fire is good too.

State Street - you have been very ...how shall we say it... "confidant" on Jim Harbaugh for a few weeks now..

All I ask is... IF it happens... you will let us know if you were blowing smoke all this time (i.e. I am going to take a "yes" position and either blow up or look like an insider) or actually knew something all along.  :)

I'm hoping for all our sakes its the latter.

Things seem to be really heating up with Jim Harbaugh and Michigan through a lot of different sources within the past few days. I'm hoping that this is actually true and not people blowing smoke, but when Brian says he's heard good things, and we haven't heard anything from Harbaugh shooting it down or Michigan going in a different direction this long it is a very good sign. The longer this keeps going on the better.

It’s probably not a coincidence that LSU head coach Les Miles basically backed out of the fray this evening (when he wasn’t really a part of it in the first place from all indications.) Everything is pointing towards Harbaugh getting the gig and Tuesday might be a big day in that effort moving forward.
