Pressure is on OSU
This could not be setting up any better for us. All the pressure is on OSU. They have to maintain the streak. They have to maintain the playoff position. They already clinched the division. We can play loose and free and see where we end up. I like our position. We absolutely have to stop the run to have a chance. This is where our thin d-line could be trouble. Go Blue!
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Don't do this to yourself. Don't get me wrong--I BELIEVE in Michigan. We can win, gotdammit. But the idea that all the pressure is on the team that beats us every year is...stop.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
No, he's right. Last year we peaked way too soon and it cost us. This year, the train keeps a rollin' through next week. We will be ready. Our defense is geared to stop their offense. Our offense is really beginning to click. We got them at home. Our guys are going to be ready.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
I think the biggest problem last year was that Winovich got hurt against IU, and coupled with Gary's existing injury, meant that our pass rush was seriously affected for the OSU game. That, coupled with their crossing-route heavy gameplan, killed our D. I don't think it had much to do with "peaking early."
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
Everyone expects us to lose. OSU is expected to roll us by multiple touchdowns. We only have upside.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
Unless they beat us by multiple multiple tds.
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
We will lose by multiple touchdowns. About 3
November 23rd, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
The pressure is on my bowels
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Hope people don't sell their tics to red. Never understood that logic. Not really fans?
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
Or the fact that the university encourages people to use StubHub, The Game is over Thanksgiving weekend, and people can't control who buys their tickets if they can't use them?
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
I wish there was some sort of apparatus in place. Can't mgoblog create a ticket exchange if the university is encouraging stub hub?
It's absolutely nauseating that Ohio sends as many fans as they do
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
The alumni association has a ticket exchange.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
They need to move the game. My daughter is selling her student ticket, and so are several of her friends. Everyone is going home for Thanksgiving.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
Yeah, it's especially bad for the students. The Big Ten needs to move rivalry week back to the previous weekend. Let teams have Thanksgiving off. Plus you'd get rid of one of those superfluous bye weeks.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
This is where a playoff expansion would benefit. Lower the schedule back to 11 games pushing rivalry weekend to before thanksgiving. Have the conference championship the weekend after thanksgiving. First round where the champ week is now. Losers of champ week and the rest of the teams are bowl eligible and the winners obviously stay in the playoff.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:33 PM ^
Go back to 11 games. Protect the players not millionaire college presidents. The Game should have been today.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:41 PM ^
You can have a 12-game season and the rivalry games this week. There is no need to have two bye weeks.
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
Or just move the season back a week
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:37 PM ^
If students need to sell their tickets it better be to other uofm students and not to the general public. Home field advantage is huge and we can’t mess that up.
mill be home for thanksgiving but I’ll be dammed if I don’t drive back for the game Saturday.
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
They go to the highest bidder and it usually ends up with a suckeye making our home more scarlet and grey then it should be!
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:40 PM ^
Hard to believe the cooler pooper, inbred mouthbreather, triller trash, 18 wheelin crowd has more than 2 nickels to rub together let alone enough money to pay hundreds of dollars for football tickets.
November 24th, 2019 at 9:48 AM ^
You do realize that there are a LOT of Michigan fans, alums, PLAYERS from Ohio, right? I understand the hatred, but the generalized Ohio only produces people who are poor and stupid argument is asinine. As much as I hate it, living in Ohio has been fantastic for me financially. Columbus's job market is great and cost of living is much lower than comparable booming jobs markets like Nashville. Believe me, I'm in the fuck Ohio State crowd and most of their fairweather fans, but let's not attack anything but their horrible taste in College Football. Ohio is actually a pretty decent state and has produced two of our Heisman trophy winners and lots of our basketball success. I'd rather we steal all of the talent in the state like we used to than constantly call the entire populace mouth-breathing cooler-poopers. Fuck Ohio State and Go Blue! Let's end this nearly decade-long misery next weekend so I can float when my father-in-law and annoying little nephew come to Thanksgiving dinner mere hours later.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:43 PM ^
I won't be able to go this year -- this will be the first UM-OSU game in AA that I've missed in 18 years.
So, three things:
1. This pretty much guarantees a Michigan win, because I won't be there to see it (notably, other games in the past that I've not been able to attend include MSU 2004 and PSU 2005).
2. Maybe I'm a fucking curse, because since 2001, I've only seen two Ws over OSU, so...maybe it's time for me to sit this one out, anyway.
3. I sold my tickets to a true Blue Michigan fan whom I know personally, because fuck selling to OSU fans.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:50 AM ^
Regarding #2, we've only beaten them twice since 2001. You've been there for both of the W's. I'd say you're batting 1.000.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:34 PM ^
Well...that's one way to look at it. Ha!
Quick recap of my experiences --
2001 - L (My first UM game in person since about 1993, which was my first one)
2003 - W (Just a terrific day, and I'll NEVER forget it)
2005 - L (THAT ONE STILL PISSES ME OFF)
2007 - L (Absolutely miserable game)
2009 - L (Even more miserable than 2007)
2011 - W (Finally...but....that OSU team was just plain bad, and we turned it into a pretty close game)
2013 - L (Actually had fun at this game; we weren't expected to even sniff a W, and nearly pulled it out)
2015 - L (I don't talk about this one)
2017 - L (Actually had fun here, too -- we had an awesome gameplan, but just not the personnel)
2019 - ? (I'll be watching on TV)
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:12 PM ^
I think it could be setting up better for Michigan if, y'know, Ohio State wasn't so fucking good. That'd be nice.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:13 PM ^
What pressure? They are going to Indy to get in the playoff regardless of the result
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
Yeah, don't understand the "pressure is on OSU" BS. And keep in mind, this was suppose to be our year to beat OSU and win the B1G championship with our experience and their youth. We were picked by the majority of preseason forecasters. But look who's playing in the conference championship again.
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
I'm fine with one out of two this year. Especially when the math is so easy now.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
I think OP just meant Chase Young will be bringing a lot of pressure and Harbaugh is under a lot of pressure to not go 0-5 (but not sure).
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
It will be a fun week. Not as hopeless of task is was a month ago. Didn't know our d-line is thin, we'll see.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
I'm looking at this from the complete opposite perspective. They have nothing to play for besides playoff position. They've won the division. They would still get in the playoffs even if they lose to us. I'm sure they won't take their foot off the gas, but I'm hoping the team saw their idiot fans storm the field for beating an overrated Penn St team and think they accomplished all they need to this regular season
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:53 PM ^
We are Andy Dufresne and OSU is the Sisters.
Here we go again.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
That's right. Refreshing to hear someone here say this instead of having the pressure on us.
The Big House better be rocking. To the older crowd, let them stand the entire game...
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:15 PM ^
Doesn't matter. We will lose.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:54 PM ^
I think we have a shot. Bet line resets after today to closer to 10 than 14. Need to figure out how to minimize the impact of their pass rush/DL.
November 23rd, 2019 at 9:04 PM ^
I think you just hit on the main problem for us in the game - constant pressure by their DL and it's not just Chase Young.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
Fields broke a lot of runs for 3rd down conversions against Penn State...we can't let that happen.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:28 PM ^
It’s going to.....
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
PSU was just giving him the draw on multiple occasions. Just numbers in the box. If he escapes pressure and makes a play that's one thing. But to just give him the draw was poor coaching.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
It will happen. Too many weapons. Have to score a lot of points next week.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:16 PM ^
I've heard this story time and time again.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
Not saying a thing after last year's debacle when we were favored. Just in the "wait and see" mode.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:17 PM ^
All the pressure is on us, the fans.
We have to bring our A-game this week to have any shot.
Fortunately, I still have the boxers I wore from the 2011 game.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
Make sure to wear the SB ring you stole from Bob Kraft should be good luck
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:45 PM ^
Unwashed since then, I hope. Otherwise, the "magic" will all be gone.
November 23rd, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
Mrs. Hatter was pregnant during the 2011 game.
I replaced her birth control pills with chiclets last month, just in case.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
How many losses to them is it gonna take for you not to sike yourself out like this anymore? They have zero pressure, the east is clinched. If they lose to us they still go on to win the B1G and make the playoff. They can just chalk up a loss to us having to get one eventually, and them not trying as hard because they didn't need it. They will be the ones playing loose and free, our guys have the pressure of never having beaten OSU before.
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:36 PM ^
Sike yourself out? Seriously?
November 23rd, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
Put all the defensive focus on Dobbins and Fields.
On offense, Shea will need 300+ again.
