The lawsuit was filed…

The lawsuit was filed immediately before the request for a TRO; courts can't issue a TRO without basing it on a lawsuit. If a TRO is issued, the court will schedule a hearing for a preliminary injunction. A preliminary injunction is like a TRO, except it remains in effect much longer, usually until there is a full trial. That takes a very long time. A hearing on a preliminary injunction would probably not take place for another 14 days. So, if the judge issues a TRO after midnight, the TRO would remain in place until after the Ohio State game. Arbitration would only be ordered if the existing agreements between the Big Ten and the schools require arbitration. That seems unlikely.

This is perfect for…

This is perfect for Northwestern. They don't need a 47,000 seat stadium with an undergraduate enrollment of just 8,000 and a fairly small alumni base in Chicago. There are lots of college football fans in Chicago, of course, but they're just not interested in the 'Cats. Giving up 12,000 seats won't mean a thing for revenue. They'll more than make up for it with suites and premium seating. The only real losers here are fans of opposing teams, who might find it a little more difficult to get a cheap ticket.

Smoking a brisket usually…

Smoking a brisket usually takes about 12 hours, so it’s really not a great tailgate idea, even for a night game.

Tarnished.

He has obviously known for a long time that he wanted to return to the NFL, so he should have stepped down right after the playoff loss so that a coaching search could be conducted before the carousel stopped. (Hell, he could have even announced it after the Ohio State win.). That's what someone who loves Michigan like he says he does would do. Granted, people don't often leave a job without a new one lined up, and he doesn't control the NFL hiring timeline.  But he knew that there would be some franchise that would want him. And more importantly, he's not someone who needs a new job before leaving. He's worth tens of millions of dollars.

Yes, he stabilized the program and brought it back to national relevance. He ran a clean program. His players seem to like and respect him. He won the games he should have won and frustratingly lost too many others. That would have been a fine legacy if he were doing this the right way.

Yesterday, you posted about…

Yesterday, you posted about a nonexistent team meeting. Before that, it was that the Raiders had hired him. He very well may be offered this job, and if so, I have little doubt that he’ll accept. But until then, maybe you ought to lay off the fake news.

They cite to a broad provision on conduct comporting with dignity and reputation of the University.  And the notice and cure requirement does not apply to conduct that, like this, can’t be cured. He’d have a terrible case if he were stupid enough to file one.

This is the exact reason why…

This is the exact reason why there have not been - and never will be - a concert at the Big House. It has nothing to do with beer sales, damage to the turf, or the university assuming the financial risk of  cancellations. The tunnel is the one and only way in to the field level of the stadium. Big things can undoubtedly fit in the tunnel, but moving the amount of equipment required for a concert is all but impossible.

Huge improvements

The gameday experience is greatly improved over the past several years. The band played more than ever. Yes, there was piped in music, but it wasn't played very often, and it wasn't annoyingly loud. This 40-something alum can't say anything bad about the student section. It was full enough for most of the game, and while there were empty seats at the top, it was very obvious that students were crammed together in the front and had fillled the aisles.

Unwatchable

This team is unwatchable, week after week. There is not one dimension of the game that is well-coached or well-played. The season can't end soon enough, and when it does, it had better be the end of the Hoke/Brandon era.

What you get from it:

What you get from it: discounts on alumni association events (there are very many that do not involve watching a sporting event), access to single-game football tickets (not worth much this year, but usually is a big perk), business and career networking, discounts on a number of products/services. The dues are tax-deductible, too.

Horrible

This was a complete failure.  I tried continuously to enter the website starting at 10:00. When I finally accessed it  half an hour later, it repeatedly froze after allowing me to put tickets in the cart. Clearly, the Alumni Association was poorly equipped to handle this and should be embarrassed.

love it

No doubt....had to go for 2.   Winning in OT, especially without Gibbons, wasn't gonna happen.

Borges

This one is on Borges.  How many times did we have 2nd &1, 3rd &1, and we run it right up the middle, where we haven't had any success since, oh I don't know, forever ago?  The oline is terrible.  It's Borges' job to adjust for that.  He failed. Again.

Epic Choke

Nothing more to say.

Bielema Is he pregnant?
Student section The student section hasn't been full all season. The solution is simple. Reduce the student ticket allotment next season. Increase the number of tickets available for season ticket holders (there is a wait list) and the general public. This isn't about who stands up during games. It's about putting asses in the seats. Students who would rather spend the whole day drinking / tailgating, studying, or who don't care about the games at all don't deserve to be criticized, but they shouldn't have tickets.
Don't give up hope

I called the Alumni Association today and was told that they are still processing applications, including ones for the ND game, and that not hearing anything about that game yet does NOT mean that you don't have a ticket.

No changes will be made There won't be any meaningful coaching changes made after this season. RR won't be fired, and he's basically stuck with his staff after making the DC change last year. Anything worse than a 7-5 finish next year, and RR is gone.
Not so sure The future looks bright for the offense. But the defense looks to be horrible for at least another year. They've regressed as the season has gone on. I don't see anyone filling in the existing holes, and losing Graham and Warren is huge.
Rock Bottom It doesn't get any worse than this.....does it?
Thanksgiving is Thursday. Thanksgiving is Thursday. Let's all be thankful that this nightmare of a season is nearly over.
