The Minnesota coaches did a Spurrier special on their QBs this past year.

Definitely a blow for Minnesota because I don't think Leidner's ceiling is that high because he looks limited as a passer.

It will be either Leidner or a freshman QB making the start at Michigan Stadium this September.

If our OL can learn how to block, I really like the way Michigan's schedule sets up this year.

The schedule is a joke yes those games r tough but those are the only teams on our schedule that even have a chance to be ranked my god if u think 3 ranked teams is tough what would u say about the 90 and 00 when Michigan played as many as 6 or 7 ranked teams?

Both the bucks and Sparty lose a ton of experience. Sparty is not as deep. I think they struggle next year. Bucks are deeper but beatable. We will be better at every single position on defense next year. I expect a top one or two D in the Big next year. Michigan is going to surprise if we get good line and QB play. Nuss will be the key. Every game is winnable.

We've been using that argument for years. The Spartans break in a new offensive line every year and have lost an All-Big Ten caliber player at almost every position over the last 5 years.

Players like Greg Jones, Cummingham, Worthy, Cousins, Bell. The guys they replaced who were supposed to be irreplaceable. The program can develop players.

  1. Look at home many RS Sr's we could have
  2. Look at how many upperclassmen we WILL have
  3. Outside of SLB (which could easily change if we wanted to have Ross/Bolden/Gedeon start), we will have experience at every postion...oh, except Kicker.

Here is the 2015 schedule by the way...

...but 2015 has a better schedule and even though you're breaking in a new QB, he will be in a system that is pretty tailored for him. One that he'll have 1.5 years experience in. And he won't be a freshman, he'll be a junior.

All of your OL and DL will be experienced, in fact your whole team could be.

It'll be the first time in a LONG time where we don't have to rely on any freshman. Sure some will be good enough to play, and that's great...but we won't have to rely on a freshman coming in and making an impact.

Then you look at the schedule and think...yea, that's the year we could be ELITE. Like CFB Playoff Elite.

Next year, if we have a year that doesn't put us in the CFB Playoff, but gets us into an "old BCS bowl." I don't think too many people are going to be unhappy. In 2015, that's make or break for me when it comes to Hoke. No excuses. We should be ELITE that year and even the year after.

He doesn't even have a full year in at WR.

I suppose he could go for 1,500 yards this year along with double digit touchdowns. But there really isn't anything to suggest he'd leave early at this point.

There is nothing more to suggest Funchess will leave early than say...Derrick Green (who I realize would not be eligible in the same year as Funchess and would have to play 2015).

The point is, we don't have one player on our team that we can speculate on leaving early.

Hopefully some guys put up numbers and we win games and they do leave and become first rounders...that's not a bad thing. If Green, Funchess, Darboh, Chesson, Bosch, Henry, Charlton, Countess, Peppers, Thomas, etc. have an All-American type year. Shit, go for it. But we can't predict that for any of those guys now.

Not in the way you could predict Jameis Winston or Johnny Manziel or Jadaveon Clowney or the majority of the other underclassmen who've turned pro (for performance on the field).

Unless you know about some personal issues with Funchess, like for example Fitz (baby - would've turned pro after Junior year if he had a monster year and didn't shatter his leg), then it's just your personal hopes and wishes.

And if that's the case...I hope and wish all of our draft eligible players have monster years and are good enough to leave early and go pro. Let's set a record with like 15 first round picks in one draft.

When you look at this, it's pretty clear to see what we need in the 2015 class.

Without sounding unrealistic...here's my "board":

(1) Super Elite level QB
Damien Harris
(1) All-Purpose type RB
(1) Elite level outside WR
(1) Slot WR
(1) Pass Catching TE
(1) Super Elite level OT
(1) Sleeper/Project OT
Jon Runyan Jr.
(1) Solid C prospect
(1) Solid WDE/SDE prospect
(1) Solid DT/NG prospect
(1) Solid WLB prospect
(1) Elite level MLB
Shaun Crawford
Tyree Kinnel

(1) Super Elite level FS
(1) Elite SS
Andrew David

That is a class of 19, which may be a little optimistic because it's supposed to be another small class. But It's not like 19 is HUGE.

Assuming we keep the guys we have in the 2015 class, QB, OT and FS are the biggest needs IMO. We need top 50 guys to fill those slots. Then we need Top 51-150 guys at WR, MLB and SS.

Of course, the Minneapolis media is all over Minnesota football - (HERE)

Nelson was actually rather succinct about the whole thing:

"For me, I am looking to play in a system that centers more around the pass game which utilizes my skill sets. I am excited to go out and meet with programs that match up with my talents."

Apparently, it is an amicable parting, which is good to hear always.Kill was very gracious in his reply as well.

That's not shocking. With the way the announcers were talking about Mitch Leidner when he played Michigan, you'd think Minnesota had the offspring of Tim Tebow, Joe Montana and John Elway in their huddle.
