Pharaoh Brown update via twitter
Pharaoh Brown just tweeted-
For everybody who wants to know I never de-committed from michigan. They said they don't consider me a commit b/c my OV that's their policy
and
Yes I am changing my position and will be weighing all my options
Looks like there is still a chance we end up with him but it does look doubtful at the moment

Still recruit him or find another TE in this class? maybe Taylor Macnamera from AZ??
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
November 23rd, 2011 at 12:52 AM ^
They should still recruit him and absolutely offer him again if he wants to come here. Teenagers are fickle and screw up all the time. If you're a parent, this is something you already know. If you're not, you'll eventually find out. If the prodigal son wants to return, and you can still mold him into a man, then you do so, and you accept the kid, warts and all.
November 23rd, 2011 at 9:58 AM ^
I don't care how talented he is. He snuck off to Oregon and then claims he didn't decommit. I wouldn't want a player on the team I couldn't trust. Dependability is critical and at this point he doesn't rank very high in that department.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:17 PM ^
I think this is the polite way this ends. Nobody loses face. But I don't think they take him back. Not because of what he did, but because of the way he did it. Sets a bad precedent.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
I really like the way Hoke handles this. Brown was told not to take officials on penalty of Michigan not honoring their commitment, and they are staying true to that. It's a shame to lose Pharaoh, but it sends a clear message about how this program works.
Also, maybe he gets replaced by a total 5* stud.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
He warned Terry Richardson and RJS not to go on joyride visits to alabama and they listened. That was the precedent and brown disobeyed his coach. Cant be trusted. You want to play for michigan, then you do it the michigan way.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I actually believe it when college football coaches say out loud that recruiting is a "horrible and demeaning process".
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I do not think we will end up with him
November 22nd, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
The Game?
If he doesn't come this weekend, I think we're done.
November 23rd, 2011 at 9:53 AM ^
I think the coaches need to have a talk with him that they will not have to for this weekend. My understanding is that they will try to set up an official to Michigan for another weekend.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
Given that he knew the policy before visiting Oregon, and that they wouldn't consider him a commit if he was visiting other schools, I'd say that means he did in fact de-commit. He just didn't say it outright.

"Yeah, my fiancee warned me that if I went out with that smokin' hot chick at my office that our engagement would be over, but I went out with her anyhow. My fiancee then broke off the engagement like she said she would. I didn't break up with her, she broke it off with me. Bitch."

During the date with the smoking hot chick, it turns out she is under observation for a slight case of VD from a tryst with some guy in Texas.
Pharoah, you da man!

He will end up at OSU once Urban gets there.

Urban is there. Started today. Miller 4 Heisman. lol
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
Miller to Brown all day...and that;s probably how we lose next 2-5 years.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Hope he ends up in the class. The mismatches he could create as a receiving TE are great.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
At what point does individual talent trump chemistry? What are others who wanted to visit going to think if you bend the rules for PB?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
... and he's got a lot to think about with this decision. I respect that.
However, there's a lot of eyes watching how Hoke's handling these things, and a preference is certainly being set with regards to extraneous visits by committed recruits. Coach isn't just sending a message to Pharaoh Brown, and he's taking it seriously. I REALLY respect that.
November 22nd, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
You mean like a precedent?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:30 PM ^
I wonder if he knew the policy before going on the Oregon trip. Not that I'd be happy with his decision even if he didn't but it is possible he didn't even inform the coaches he was going. Of course, when they make their commitment, I'd think Hoke (or another coach) would tell them the policy.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:48 PM ^
He knew, according to Sam Webb. Webb stated that Hoke makes it clear that once you're committed , you're committed and it means no other visits.
From what it sounds like Brown just up and took a visit to Oregon w/o notifying UM. Not cool, and if I were a UM coach I'd just go ahead and let him leave.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
hard for kids to realize what the term "commitment" means.
For Hoke, it means you are all-in. 100%. No going backwards. No what-ifs.
It's a good policy. If there is still an open space in the class, I assume Hoke may give him a chance to commit. But This Is Michigan fergodsakes, and don't expect Michigan to commit to you if you can't reciprocate.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:32 PM ^
they may get a better player as a result, or they may not. Either way, as i've said in an earlier post, It's a privilege to play for Michigan. If no one ever holds these young kids accountable for their actions then they will never learn and grow from their poor decision-making. Kudos to coach Hoke and his staff for sticking to their policies.

This post is now OT. :)
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:46 PM ^
Hoke is handling this 100% correctly. I have had to terminate productive employees who broke rules that, if everyone broke, would lead to corporate chaos. It hurt when we did it but by doing so we sent a message that every employee heard about for a long time to come.
As difficult as it is to let somebody like Brown go - the message it will send will pay dividends many years down the road. Don't commit to Michigan unless you mean it. And committment means you can't "look around" any more.
