Pam Ward on this week's game

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
I fully expect the game against Indiana to be more than sold out now. Pam Ward and Ray Bentley are your announcers for this weekend. DEATH!!! (HT: Awful Announcing)

I'm just hoping Ray Bentley will FINALLY mention that he played for Central Michigan, which is just up the road from Ann Arbor! I feel like this is relevant information to every game involving Michigan or Michigan State or any other team from a state bordering the state of Michigan or any of its adjacent lakes/states/countries/etc, and I only wish that he would relay it to us in some fashion. We want to know, Ray! We want to know.

I owe a buddy a pair of tickets to a Michigan game. I had planned to give him mine for Indiana. Looking at the forecast there is a bonus, I can miss sitting out in a potential thunderstorm. But I'd rather sit outside and risk getting hit by lightening than listen to Pam Ward.

I've been campaigning for a game on ESPN with no announcing and one of these options: 1.) Waterfall 2.) Rain or (!) 3.) Waves crashing in to a beach I feel this would add a whole nother level to the gameday experience. Maybe everybody in the stands could just get a rain-stick with beads inside it and we can all turn ours over at the same time to make noise.

whatever. ripping on pam ward is like the cool kid thing to do. she's really not that objectionable to me. i really only notice the announcing when they say something that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, or won't let some stupid story die (see: john madden talking about the HVAC vents during a superbowl).

That accurately describes about 75% of all Pam Ward broadcasts. I don't actually mind Bentley that much. There's only so much you can do with Pam when she does a football game. There's a reason the Pammie's are named how they are.

Pam Ward equals me announcing the game to myself, watching on mute, or possibly listening to it on the radio while watching the game. Pam Ward is the worst announcer ever.

Pam Ward is exceptional at her job; in fact, I'd go so far as to call her the greatest sports broadcaster in history. Most play-by-play announcers relay the event taking place on the field/ice/court to the audience's ears. Not Pam! Watching a Pam Ward football game delivers the bone-crunching, testosterone-filled action of regular football with the hopeless inaccuracy of a game of charades. It's twice the fun in one broadcast! Does spiking the ball on fourth down sound stupid? Not if Pam's in the house! That crazy fox keeps you guessing!

don't remember Bently at all. He must not have put a solid impression on me, but he must not be that bad either. I think I remember Pam Ward and I'm not too fond of her. I'm guessing Bently is a smaller black guy, but I really don't know. I guess I'll have to look up a picture. But, really, what can we expect? It's a Michigan Indiana game. Of course we get the worst announcers they have. I'm surprised this one is even on TV (on ESPN at least).

Ray was a white linebacker with the Bills in the early 90s. He doesn't bother me as much, but I think part of that is Pam doing most of the talking. I feel like if the two balanced the talk a little better, the overall broadcasts would be better than decent. Both of them have their share of flubs though. That's why they get the noon ESPN2 games. As far as "what we can expect," MSU @ Wisconsin got the better set of announcers. Ours is a game against undefeateds. I would have expected to get the Dave Pasch, Bob Griese, & Chris Spielman crew. I guess ESPN is just trying to spread the announcers around.

Materials: TV with DVR Radio (or computer with speakers attached) 1. Find a radio station that carries the Michigan game, online is the best option if you're out of state, obviously. 2. Record the game on the DVR, go ahead and mute the TV. 3. Use Hand/Eye/Ear coordination to sync whats happening on screen with the radio broadcast. 4. ???? 5. Profit? And now you have a way to avoid any and all Pam Ward related activities.

than that guy who did the Horror and last year's BCS championship game, Charles something, that guy who I think played at Tennessee. When he and his partner announce, they don't always know what the down is. That's special. Pam just doesn't bother me. Sorry to disappoint.

did the ND game? Or maybe some special guest work from Keith Jackson? Hell, even Musburger, because at least I like his voice. Or Tirico? No no...none of these will do...I'm going to fire up my computer and listen to Frank and Jim!

It is especially sad that FireJoeMorgan has stopped posting (their one day deadspin thing aside) and people actually think there is anyone on television worse than him.

Ugh. Millen and now her. I know Millen was supposed to be good, but he wasn't that good (although he said some funny things). His partner last week was horrible. Maybe the Iowa night game will have real announcers(and EA please).

It's not just that she's an idiot... I can't stand her fucking voice; it gives me hives. If Dave Matthews hisself were in the booth warbling the play by play... well, fuck, I don't know which would be worse. As stated above, I'll be muting the TV and putting Beckmann and Brandy on. I hope there's not a big time delay between the radio and TV.
