Well, we already know who was at fault here.

Sparty insecurity is a full time existence…
October 6th, 2022 at 2:52 AM ^
That might, in fact, be what this is all about. "Sources: Draymond Green, Jordan Poole altercation boiling since training camp over contract extension"
If so you would think a grown man like Green would have the common sense not to let jealousy boil over on him publicly, and end up a laughing stock. Or not. If the story is true, he no longer has that option.
EDIT: Supplying a new link; the original included this story, picked up by aol.com. Subtext of three or four pieces I'm reading seems to be that Draymond is unhappy he has to wait for an extension while Poole is getting big money now, maybe that there's a perception Poole is feeling full of beans as he moves into the limelight. My money would be on the guy who can make shots. Green has had his (belligerent) moment, but will find he's expendable at some point.

The most shocking thing about the article you linked is that it’s aol.com.

I can hear the modem running right now
October 6th, 2022 at 7:06 AM ^
I can’t open it…maybe I have the wrong version of Netscape?
October 6th, 2022 at 7:40 AM ^
RIP Netscape. If someone revived that browser, I would switch in a heartbeat.
October 6th, 2022 at 8:36 AM ^
You're in luck, it does still exist today, it's just called Firefox. Netscape created Mozilla in 1998 and released Firefox in 2002.
October 6th, 2022 at 8:38 AM ^
Netscape's descendant is what we currently know as Firefox. It's okay, give it a try... Far as I'm concerned, though, a browser is a browser. Pick one with the touchy feely you like and move on with your life.

There's SeaMonkey.

I kinda miss AOL
October 6th, 2022 at 8:57 AM ^
I barely noted, since the link also said msn. Dunno if I got there via Vivaldi or Chrome.
October 6th, 2022 at 9:13 AM ^
Well, if you use Vivaldi its guaranteed to work all four seasons.

Plus one to you, my very refined sir.

Love all of the AOL jokes. Kind of have to be of a certain age to really appreciate them.
October 6th, 2022 at 9:52 AM ^
Good luck trying to cancel your AOL service.

Want a bigger contract? Play better
October 6th, 2022 at 9:26 AM ^
I'm gonna try this tactic at work this week. If I find out someone is getting the promotion or raise I want, I just gonna go punch them in the neck!
Just insane that professional sports gets such a pass in the legal system. Dude should be 100% arrested for assault if they claims in this article are true.
October 6th, 2022 at 9:49 AM ^
I have long wondered about this, too. If word came down that fights would be subject to legal scrutiny just like everywhere else, would most of them stop? I mean, Draymond might just be languishing in the hoosegow at this stage.
October 6th, 2022 at 12:48 PM ^
Fights in sports are subject to legal scrutiny, it just so happens that most jurisdictions have carve outs that revolve around consent and foreseeability. E.g., if you play hockey, you consent to the reasonably foreseeability possibility that a fight breaks out, even though fights are clearly against the rules of hockey.
Fights in basketball are less common than hockey, but Bill Laimbeer Combat Basketball was a thing, so it's not entirely unforeseeable.
October 6th, 2022 at 12:48 PM ^
I get that, because of the physicality of sports, there will be dust ups from time to time. But that isn't what this article is reporting. They are reporting that the motivation for the altercation was Draymond being pissed Poole was getting an extension and he was still having to play out the final year of his contract.
October 6th, 2022 at 10:01 AM ^
You mean battery, but I agree, strongly.
October 6th, 2022 at 11:07 AM ^
If we're getting technical, Green regularly assaults—threatens harm but not actually hitting, i.e., battery.
October 6th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
I heard it from a good source that sparties believe that to "go green" they need batteries.
October 6th, 2022 at 3:05 PM ^
I know this is almost certainly contract related but my dream scenario is that JP repeatedly taunted him with Tuck Coming? and then took off running like he’d just nailed the buzzer beater vs Houston in 2018 with Draymond in hot pursuit 🤣
October 5th, 2022 at 10:07 PM ^
Gosh. I'm glad I was sitting down for the enormous shock that Green got carried away.
October 6th, 2022 at 8:07 AM ^
Rumor is Poole challenged him to a spelling b
October 6th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
I heard Green took ten shots at Poole but only got one in.
October 6th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
Izzo's "coach on the floor", Draymond Green? And here I've been told he's the ultimate leader! I, for one, am shocked.
October 6th, 2022 at 12:33 PM ^
Saw something on Twitter along the lines of
"This was the only 3 he could hit."
October 5th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
The rivalry is real
October 5th, 2022 at 11:23 PM ^
True, but I think Draymond has a rivalry with everyone else in the world.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Just some further insight via ESPN:
"The two players had been verbally sparring prior to some pushing, which escalated when Green took a swing and made contact with Poole, sources said. Team officials are reviewing the episode, sources said."
"Poole wasn't hurt by the punch and completed his workout before leaving the practice floor on Wednesday, sources said."
October 5th, 2022 at 10:21 PM ^
Such a little brother thing to do. Especially when big brother goes on about his business and finishes his workout unfazed.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:29 PM ^
‘Poole wasn’t hurt by the punch’ (which hurts little Dray more than any journalist can document)
October 5th, 2022 at 11:22 PM ^
Odd it always seemed like Poole and Green had a little brother, big bro rivalry going on with all the MSU-Michigan stuff etc. Just didn't think Green was the little brother.
October 5th, 2022 at 11:24 PM ^
You clearly don’t understand the rivalry
October 6th, 2022 at 6:12 AM ^
You can take the little brother out of East Lansing, but you can’t take the East Lansing out of little brother.
October 6th, 2022 at 9:16 AM ^
East Lansing, is that close to East Landfill? We need to get our geography straight.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:12 PM ^
Time to fire up the interwebs.
I wish this one were true. It's too good to check.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:19 PM ^
🤣🤣 🤣🤣
October 5th, 2022 at 10:31 PM ^
<checks stats> 7, 7, 7
That’s good in Vegas, but embarrassing on an nba champion for a sparty with a chip on the shoulder
October 5th, 2022 at 11:11 PM ^
That's gold, Jordan. Gold!
October 6th, 2022 at 8:42 AM ^
That's AWESOM!!! And it sounds like something Poole would say - high quality snarky trash talk, right there!
October 5th, 2022 at 10:14 PM ^
Rule 1: If one finds oneself in a physical altercation with Draymond Green, first and foremost, cover thy balls!
Rule 2: Remember you're dealing with someone who met MSU's entrance requirements AND believes the Earth is flat.
Rule 3: See Rule 1.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:15 PM ^
Green is just a big big meany
October 6th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
you better watch your languge, mr.
October 6th, 2022 at 8:25 PM ^
Sorry, I got carried away in the moment
October 5th, 2022 at 10:40 PM ^
I guess Draymond doesn't understand that, at this point in his career, it's really unwise to force an organization to make a decision between him and a player 9 years younger and ~$22M/year cheaper than him.
October 5th, 2022 at 10:51 PM ^
Critical thinking isn't really a Sparty strong suit.
