OT: What Are You Watching / Show Recommendations
Hey MGoPeople,
Wondering what everyone is currently watching on the TV. Here's a list of things I've watched and think you should also watch.
- The Last Of Us. It was wonderful. Watch it
- The Leftovers - Another HBO show. This one was also pretty awesome. Definitely thought provoking.
- Narcos and Narcos Mexico - Finally got around to watching these gems. Both of them were fantastic in my humble opinion.
- The Queens Gambit - I was so bummed out that it was only 7 episodes. This show was amazing
- Barry - Season 4 in April. Bill Hader is awesome.
- Ted Lasso - The best thing on the TV right now.
Give me your lists and recommendations. What are you watching
I've really enjoyed the new season of South Park.
The Company You Keep
the FBIs
The Way Home
The Blacklist
A Million Little Things
Ghosts
Whose Line Is It Anyway
I'm old-school, I don't do streaming.
I'm bummed this is the end for AMLT, but I guess there's really nowhere else to go with the characters.
I hope Delilah makes a farewell appearance.
WOW, did you type this on your typewriter? If yes, please send me a Polaroid of it. I mean, still watching network TV is akin to driving to Blockbuster to rent movies. Jesus man, get with the 90's at least.
He said he was old school, no need to mock his choices or viewing habits, I like some of them. Sorry, we can't all be "cool kids".

See, I would have gone a different direction. It's not so much that he mocked the reply that was offensive to me. It's that his jokes weren't funny. Typewriter, Poloroid, Blockbuster? Maybe try some of these "jokes" out on your goldfish before putting them out here for the rest of us to consume.
Sorry, I was attempting to be sarcastic. After I re read it I realized it was more like being a big DICK instead. I should have included a few emogi's or something, they are helpful at times.
South Park and Whose Line is it Anyway are shows from the 90s. I miss the 90s.
I took it as sarcastic. I figured I would get more pushback.
Really enjoyed the new Luther movie. If you haven't seen the series (especially seasons one and two), you're missing out.
Definitely enjoyed the Luther movie. Now plan to watch the series
The Leftovers was one of the greatest shows of all time. I got my wife to watch and she still sends me pics of Justin Theroux shirtless.
Ted Lasso - Currently
The Last of Us - My wife has moved on to Pedro Pascal
The Wire - because I'm going to beat a dead horse and say it is the best show of all time.
I need to watch Better Caul Saul - I just haven't had time.
Better Call Saul was fantastic. Definitely worth the watch.
Regarding The Wire, I have made it through the first season and about a quarter of the second season and I can't get into it. What am I doing wrong?
Regarding the Wire, I didn't love it until the episode Kima got shot in the first season. After that the show owned me. The second and fifth seasons are probably my least favorite. Season 4 is the best season of TV I have ever seen. I just love all the characters. It is certainly a different type of show. I hope it wins you over.
You sound like someone who enjoys 40 degree days
Absolutely nothing, I’m with you on The Wire. Too nihilistic for me.

With the Wire, every word uttered is important. You should only watch when there are no distractions and put the phone away. It took me 2 episodes to get it.
It delves into a metaphorical wire that connects everyone in society and how the institutions are more important than the individual. Each season has a theme, the public schools, the dealers, the media, the unions and of course politics and they all intertwine and overlap. It is a literary masterpiece.

The Wire is all about dialect.Pay attention to the quote after the opening credits because you will hear it in that episode.Omar is so commanding, could have his own show
Two tik tok accounts keep popping up that are nothing but BCS clips. Now im watching the entire show again in 90 second clips and loving it. Better Call Saul is like blue cheese or dry aged steak. Its not for everyone but if its your taste profile you need that next hit.
Saul hits overdrive in the final season. I don’t think there are 3 better consecutive episodes of any show than “Plan and Execution,” “Point and Shoot,” and “Fun and Games.”
I will say that it did drag a little bit in the last Gene set of episodes. There was just not quite enough content at the very end to propel the story any further.
The Old Man
The Outsider
Severance
Super Pumped
The Sinner
Outer Range
Night Sky
Slow Horses
I guarantee these will keep you occupied for a minute.
Succession, Survivor, Abbott Elementary, Top Chef, I Think You Should Leave
I've heard great things about Poker Face but haven't checked it out yet.
I think you should leave is an acquired taste but it’s awesome. Loved watching it.

Dan Flashes and Coffin Flop are two of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Just started watching Seinfeld, if you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor drop everything and watch it!! Amazing! Just got done watching cheers! Awesome show! Next I think I’ll watch MASH but not sure what day the episodes are released!
These pretzels are making me thirsty!!
I was in the pool!
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
There was shrinkage!
🎼Beer and pretzels, that’s our game, C-H-E-R-S
"NORM!"
"What's up, Mr. Peterson?"
"My nipples, it's cold out there!"
Watch curb your enthusiasm,Larry David creator of Seinfeld stars
About 10 years late to the party on this one, but the MGoGirlfriend and I have been watching "Justified" and have been enjoying it very much. Recently started Season 2, when UM's Margo Martindale has a major story arc.
And Season 3 of "Ted Lasso" drops today. Huge fans. We're also fans of "Only Murders In the Building," "Ghosts," "Alaska Daily," and "Resident Alien."
I just started Season 2 of "Perry Mason" (certainly not like the Raymond Burr version!) And while I don't care for "Yellowstone," I ate up the prequels "1883" and "1923." Great stuff.
EDIT: Forgot "Poker Face," which I didn't think I'd like, but the MGoGirlfriend wanting to watch, so I went along. Loved it. It's a combo of 70's crime dramas and today's realism, with a good chunk of humor mixed in. And the list of guest stars is impressive. We got to the end of the season and had the same reaction: "But I want mooore!"
And as a change-up, we watch "All Creatures Great and Small" on PBS. I like the period-piece stuff, and it reminds us both of the old days of Sunday night television, when there were family-style shows on like "Lassie" or "Wonderful World of Disney," and you'd watch until it was bedtime because you had school in the morning. It's total comfort food TV.
Famous character actress Margo Martindale?
My favorite part of Bojack Horseman
I’m a fan of Taylor Sheridan work. Besides what you mentioned I also love Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King Looking forward to more projects he has in the works
some Other shows I’ve watched lately and enjoyed:
Jack Ryan
Peaky Blinders
The English
Animal Kingdom
Wolf like Me - surprising good and fun 6 episode show
Tulsa King was fun. I'll watch anything with Stallone. At some point I'll get around to Mayor of Kingstown, though i wonder if it'll continue after Jeremy Renner's accident.

I do wonder about Renner after his accident. Hopefully he recovers and can continue acting. I like his work

About halfway through Tulsa King. Really fun show.

If you like Taylor Sheridan, check out Wind River. What a fantastic hidden gem.

I watched Justified when COVID began and it’s probably one of my all-time favorites. Each season just kept getting better. And I hear they are making a sequel set in Detroit.
Ted Lasso, Only Murders, Ghosts and Resident Alien are also ones we enjoy. I look forward to the 2nd season of Perry Mason but won’t start it until more episodes drop.
I might need to try Alaska Daily since it appears your likes are very similar to mine.
Raylen and Boyd loved that show
Not a show but currently I'm watching Bone Tomahawk. It's great.
That's such a disturbing movie.

Oh hey... Kurt Russell, I like him. Contemporary western too. "You tell 'em hells comin' with me!" Right? I'll give this thing a ... what the fuhhh?
There are two unexpected pleasures out on TV now, both in the Star Wars universe.
Andor. Which might be the show of the year, or really, the best show in recent years.
Bad Batch. It's animated and somehow, not a single bad episode. I can't believe how much I like it. It's compelling.
A third is Mandalorian, but that is well known and not unexpected.
Didn't a new season of Mandalorian just start up?
Yes it did! It's good, two episodes out so far.
Currently on season 4 of King of the Hill.
6 in the morning and already the boy ain't right.
Season 4 of The Simpsons here. (I didn't have a TV during that season and the next one, which I guess are considered very good seasons. I have Season 5 teed up, too.)

Seasons 3-8 (approx) are considered the Golden Age and amazing. You'll enjoy those thoroughly.
Our Flag Means Death (HBO) is something I can't recommend enough although it certainly won't be for everyone. But for some give it a couple episodes and let it wear on you to get where things are going and the appreciation will come.
The Leftovers is a show I started, randomly, maybe 2 years ago. It hadn't gotten these rave reviews quite yet that I saw. Then over the last year, 18months I see it in these lists of great shows. And here I am restarting it again because I only made it through 3 episodes the first time because it wasn't quite doing it for me. It still isn't and I've gotten to episode 4 or 5. I'm going to keep going but I have to assume it "picks up" a bit it the coming episodes or maybe next season?!
Our Flag Means Death is definitely a specific type of thing, but it’s hilarious. If anyone likes other stuff by Taika Waititi, this is definitely one to watch.
As an aside, I also highly recommend his movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Brilliant stuff
