Go Navy! Beat Army!
OT - Welcome back Friday Posbang! (The Army-Navy Edition)
Double dose of Friday POSBANG? I'm good with it, upvotes for all!
EDIT: Navy beats Army. 12 in a row is incredible.
I must be your foil:
Go Army! (family reasons, good sir)
I'm here to party. I love the Midshipmen.....wait, what?
Im here for the party
+1, purely for your Talking Heads related username and Avatar. If you ever get a random upvote when you don't rightfully deserve one, just know that it was me silently approving of your avatar again..
If your avatar ever plays in a game, I'm coming on a blitz.
Woo Friday the 13th!
Here for it I am.
Cuz Navy beat the Falcons...my alma mater. However, I'm pretty sure Navy will win.
My dad used to take my brother and I to games at Michie Field growing up. Mostly we played under the bleachers until we were old enough to understand football.
Rooting for Army. No one should have to endure that long of a losing streak to their rival unless they are our rivals.
Already posted. POSBANG ANYWAY!
I heard that profitgoblue guy is back and looking for you...
MGoPointedly speaking of course. Happy Friday everyone!
Just dropped my truck off for a transmission rebuild. They don't accept Mgopoints :(
no idea how to downvote your transmission, sorry.
I feel your pain. The transmission on my car just shit the bed yesterday. Merry Christmas to both of us. Because a nice $2,000 repair bill is what i wanted for Christmas this year.
and two Naval installations. I was born in the base hospital at an AF base. I'm service agnostic. Go US!
Changed my mind, it's December. In honor of a relative who perished aboard the USS California (BB-44) - Go Navy!
Two posbang threads?
I have two Navy brothers, so I should probably cheer for them...but man, no team in a rivalry like this should go 11 straight losses. I think I'm pulling for Army until they win.
using my time to scour the board today, rewarding and discouraging as I see fit, with the knowledge that theortically I could be more productive tomorrow, what with the lack of football.
Don't forget Michigan vs Arizona tomorrow. Would be a huge win for the team.
Plus a POSBANG! christmas come early. Rooting for Navy due to my best friend being in the Navy.
Studying for my 3 finals in the next 5 days. Engineering blows, maaaaan.
so I'll have 200 midterms to grade. I'd better make this weekend count.
TA or professor?
but the prof is a good one, he will help us grade.
a double dose of posbangin to start the weekend of right.
Working in mid quarter progress reports and going on a rainy hike or two.
Don't forget those TPS reports too.
Err double post
Yay for POSBANGS!! Maybe I'll get to 100 now.
In honor of my physics final..
Hey! This ain't an Army-Air Force game! Or a Navy - Air Force game!
The Navy flies too....just not nearly as well as the Air Force. -signed AF vet
-Signed, AF Vet, C-130 pilot
Doesn't the Army operate more flying machines than the Air Force or Navy? I could be wrong I may have heard it from an Army guy. Either way go Army
P.S. Consider that a shout-out to MGoCanadians.
Wooo Friday! Time to get blackout drunk at lunch and then go back to work!
This calls for the "Doublemint Twins" for some reason....
Looking forward to taking down #1 tomorrow.
Navy will win...
But Army will cover.
JBT, this GIF never gets old
Best Borges post ever. +2
Michigan, your OC, woof.
The best thing I've seen in a very long time.
Go Mids, Beat Army!
Go Navy! Beat Army!
Thats all, go Army, and GREAT gif of the Home Alone Kid and The Amazing Al.
this new posbang is a lot like playing craps...if you have enough numbers covered out there and you start hitting, your total is going to go up quickly!
I need the points.
HORN HIGH YO ON THE HOP!!
I can't emphasize enough, why a great job the navy does supporting the army during wars. Thanks for the mre's, tents and glow lights fellas.
thank the Army enough for occupying that ground underneath the airspace that the AF fights to occupy...
Posbanged for von Clausewitz reference.
Try finding THAT on any MSU/Ohio blogs.
Yeah, they don't like pickles
(Or prefer Sun Tzu)
THat is a lot of credit. We caught our rides from the USAF and brought our own provisions and Class IIIIX items. Lol. I work with numerous USN personnel and they are reminding the Army types about the win streak. Most Army guys respond with "Sorry, man, we haven't been able to pay attention to the game because we've been fighting a war."
I haven't been pos banged like this since grade school
We're not going to Delhi...we're going to Pankot Palace.
Both of my grandpas were in the Navy, my dad was in the Navy and my uncle was in the Navy. If I went in the service, I probably would have gone in the Navy too. Therefore...
As of right now, both "Posbang" threads have 53 replies. Which one will win?
SUPER excited about having a weekend off from work to finish my marketing paper. Horray...
Trying to find him now. Otherwise, I have a few meetings today and then studying for finals all weekend.
is that your vomit on South U near the Chase ATM?
For the first time in years, I'll be back in town. The UM Sailing Team has their 75th anniversary banquet this weekend so I wouldn't miss that and I am sensing a trip to Ashley's in my near future. For anyone interested in what's going on, or even just verifying that M actually has a sailing team, check out http://sailing.studentorgs.umich.edu/
Also, since I have a cousin who's wrapping up his stay at West Point - Go Army! Sorry to miss the game this year. Its an incredible spectacle for anyone who ever has a chance to attend.
What year were you? I wasn't on the team, but my roomate was and I knew (and played flip-cup with) most of them around 2002-2003.
Best half decade of my life...
Looks like your roommate and I were teammates. If you ever spent any time at 510 Mack or 425 Cross, I hope you enjoyed your stay at our house.
Ha, yup, been to both a bunch of times. My roomate was Dan Reagan.
Somehow I knew you were going to say it was Dan.
Definitely sailed with Beanstalk, KT, EP and ther rest. Didn't you guys live ovewr on Packard I'm living in Chicago and I actually still run into EP KT and Dino on occsaion. Hell, I even ran into Dan's dad a few times this year out on the water.
Didn't you guys live on Packard?
Yeah 606 Packard, right by Jimmy Johns.
All the bitching about not wanting to watch Michigan games anymore during the season that I did seem so stupid now that the season is over and I just want more football. *sigh* Don't know what you've got til it's gone, even if it's dong punching, soul crushing, miserable excuses for football games. Can't wait for the bowl game.... and then the long darkness of the offseason.
Are we doing a MGoBlog bowl pick 'em?
In effect now
Done and done!
New basement carpet currently being installed after June 21 flood (basement had to be drain tiled and a sump pump installed, thus the long delay)
After many years or lurking, I didn't start posting until points were capped at 5. Very excited for this, my first ever pos-bang. Please don't be gentle!
The only posbang I'm looking for today is the seller signing the purchase agreement on a piece of property I'm attempting to purchase.
They've been sitting on it for two weeks.
My father in law went to West Point, so cheering for Army is mandatory in our family. I really hope they pull off the upset and break Navy's streak over them.
Other weekend plans: Dinner with my mom's side of the family tonight at Cheesecake Factory and dinner with my dad's side of the family Sunday at Maggianos, so I'll be well fed this weekend. It's for my birthday, I turn 32 on Monday.
Have a good weekend everybody! Double Posbang Friday woohoo!
I'll confess - I missed the Big Chill my senior year, but a friend growing up actually played in the game (Go Army!). It was worth every second. The Michigan-Ohio St. rivalry may be bitter and "tops" in college football, but there is NOTHING like the Army-Navy game.
The pregame festivities were arguably one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The cadets lining up on the field in formation, about 25-30 parachuters came in, lots of flyovers. Everyone at the game was also in incredibly good spirits. If you've never been, and you know someone in the armed forces...go with them to the game sometimes. It's a bucket list item you won't regret.
I am completely on board with what you are saying. The Game is an awesome rivalry, BCS bowl games are all a spectacle, various pro playoff games are great atmosphere, but the pomp and circumstance surrounding Army-Navy is like nothing else I've ever attended. March On is worth the price of admission, even without the football.
And for those trying to watch at home, CBS Sports will be televising March On starting at noon Eastern on Saturday.
Probably going to hit up Home Depot, maybe even a little Bed Bath an Beyond if there is time.
It's been too long since our last Friday POSBANG!!
I am partial to the Navy, but I have clients who are Army civil servants.....
What the hell.
Can i have some? *wink*
Are the cat pictures and GIFs going to be scared away? This is a game that certainly merits "intangibles" from Brian's football opponent previews...
Too bad the game can't include enlisted. If so, then Army mops up Navy (Full disclosure: I may or may not be a retired Senior NCO....okay, I am <allow for bias>). In all seriousness I played intramural throughout my military career and was always impressed with some of the football talent I played with. There were loads of former NCAA scholarship guys that didn't pan out.
I can attest (10 years of Joint Service) that Navy officers are much more difficult to work with than Army officers.
I agree with including enlisteds, but the outcome will be quite different if the Marines are on the Navy team. I also played intramural football and was always impressed with some of the bruises I received from the Marines I played with.
go army AND navy!
I'll be going to Home Depot and Bed, Bath, and Beyond if I have enough time.
Complete the trifecta with a trip to Pottery Barn.
The Pottery Barn sucks.
promised your wife you wouldn't drink? a pretty nice little saturday.
Hold up. One cannot simply erase a Bed, Bath, and Beyond by appending a Home Depot to the front of that statement. I'm assuming you will be downing a six pack of Shiner Bock and doing some masonry work to wash away the BBB visit. That is the correct penance.
Since this is a POSBANG. Hooray for Home Depot (a grown man's toy store)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure if this was worthy of a thread, but since there are usually some pretty interesting beers in all of the "What are you drinking?" threads, it would be pretty cool if we had a beer trade or something?
12 in a row!
and will be on vacation till the 26th, so grabbing some seasonal brews and absolutely will decompress this weekend and coming week.
Navy beats Army 34 - 17.
My cousin played for the Army football team in the 90's, so I've got to root for them. Go Black Knights!
I am neutral in this game (maybe). I lean Air Force wrt the services, so unless this outcome involves them I will be rooting for a solid game. Also, pre-Beat Arizona day!
I've got friends and relatives have have served in all branches...but one of my bosses is actually a West Point grad, and I would REALLY like to see the Cadets get this thing done tomorrow for his sake if not their own.
If you ever get a chance to attend a game featuring a service academy team, DO IT. I was a teenager when I saw Army come from behind to beat Illinois in the Peach Bowl in the old Atlanta Fulton County stadium during a steady, cold rain in 1985. Former Bo assistant (and emergency Rose Bowl coach) Jim Young coached for Army then. It was a great game, too...Army won 31-29 when Jack Trudeau (who passed for 400 yards that day) attempted a 2-point conversion late that was broken up. Army ran the option back then because of course they did and QB Rob Healy was their leading rusher and game MVP.
But the Corps is such a spectacle in person, and of course you've got the alums all over the place (identifiable by armbands noting their graduation year) and something about it just makes you feel grateful.
I root for Army. It's been awhile since they have won, and those kids deserve it.
I can haz pos bang now?
Go Navy, Beat Army.
Did someone say PawsBang?
I'm here to be banged with something called a pos. Any takers?
Devin Gardner, Copper Bowl MVP.
Cool picture. Would not want to be on that end of one of those.
The sound of the A-10 engaging a target sends chills up one's spine. I've participated in numeroud CALFEXs during my Army career and always loved the Warthog. Very distinct sound.
Both my father and father in-law are Army vets. Doubt they win, but will be rooting. Love this game, because in the end, it really doesn't matter who wins, it's just great seeing them out there.
I want points too!!!1!!one!!eleven!!111!
Last day at work for about a month, and its filled with holiday parties and free food!..but the best part is POS BANGS are BACK!
SNOW in Philly!
Corpsman First Class and Plank Owner of USS Nimitz.
Go Navy, Beat Army
did you get to see the Pearl Harbor attack fleet? :)
Hell, I saw Monitor v. Meririmac.
Go Army Beat Navy! Also, Michigan hoops wins by 8
While written from Navy's point of view this is an objective look the deep structural issues all of the academies face in football and explains why the Middies are currently the dominant program and will likely stay that way in the near future:
"Mike" is one of the best cfb bloggers around; you'd do well to read his stuff. And because I'm a big Ivin Jasper fan, GO NAVY!
Go Army! Beat Navy!
One of my favorite things about Army/Navy is you can't go wrong not matter what side you cheer for.
on NCAA 2012 right now. Just got a sweet dual threat QB that is tearing it up on the option with his 4.48 forty time and throwing darts all over the field.
I'm in the middle of a 5-peat right now. I finally have depth at the QB position. 3 years in a row, I landed 5 star athlete with a 3 star arm. I used to get my 3 RBs 200 yards a game back in the 2011-12 versions. But now the QB is so dominate in the option I settle for getting my QB, 2 RBs & FB 100 yards a piece.
Welcome back Posbangs.
Yay! I'm ready for my first POSBANG since it went away! Drown me in POSBANGS!
BEAT EM! Army by a field goal.
2013 produced a few pretty good (though not terribly patriotic) times...
Spending my Friday trying to cram in as much research (compiling a fish diversity database on the Ordovician/Silurian) before having to sit down and pound out a 10 page paper due today. Senioritis bites me in the ass again.
Is that like a Duck Dynasty database?
time to stop the bleeding!
How do you root against either? These kids are a special breed. You have to really want it to get into any of the academies these days.
Father is a West Point grad. I go every year to this game. Hard to see Army struggle against those squids year in and year out, but the games have gotten more interesting in the past 2 years. Here's to the drought ending (hopefully):
Should I...should I just ask? I've never done this before...
Would like to see Army win and get back on the horse. For outside fans streaks need to be stopped at some point to restore balance (for those who have specific interests they probably hope the streak never ends). I was minutes and physical issues away from enlisting as an officer in the Marines! As well I have several family members who were Marines! Semper Fi! However, as stated above to restore balance, yea. Either way America is the spotlight as well as the men/women who support our country by serving it in the military.
Also tonight, church family Christmas party. Later a Redbox movie with the wife with either wine or Backwoods Bastard! Tomorrow shoveling and football and things around the house need attention! Would like to take my wife on a date to see Hobbit 2: desolation of Smaug. Sunday, church then football and relax!
Painting several rooms of our house, so I'll be double-fisted all weekend - paintbrush and a beer.
for my first post. Brother is in the Army. Go Army! Beat Navy!
U.S. Army 25th ID, 02-06, OIF II
Spending my last week of undergrad preparing for finals the only way I know how:
Woooooo America!!!!!!!!111 posbang
Being a veteran of the Navy, i am rooting for a victory by the midshipman. Go Navy, Go Blue
Go Big Green Machine!
Yeahhhh actual positives to... bang... with.
I'm in the Air Force so no real rooting interest here just a game that is fun to see.
but optimism, and 30 years wearing a green uniform, compel me to say -- Go Army! Beat Navy!
