OT: Uh yeah, these are pretty sweet: special Army uniforms for Navy game
Sorry can't imbed, (someone with skillz please help out) but Army continues the recent tradition of having very cool uniforms to play Navy. These are both nostalgic and modern at once, and pretty awesome IMO. Unfortunately another recent Army tradition is losing to Navy, so there's that.

and what a great tribute for the game. Navy has usually come up with some great uniforms, especially helmets for this game also.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:59 PM ^
It's fun and all that army and navy roll out cool looking uniformz for their last game, but I would be happier if the Army-Navy game was actually close (and exciting) this year - and it just may be this time.
December 5th, 2016 at 3:00 PM ^
The way this year has gone, I would not be surprised if Army finally won.
December 5th, 2016 at 3:26 PM ^
I think it will be closer than most Navy fans would like. Navy's QB and two best H-backs got hurt last week and are out for the season. This may be Army's best chance in the lsat 14 years.

so here is the picture:

are kick ass.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:34 PM ^
They have one-off uniforms that are better than some schools primaries...
December 5th, 2016 at 2:01 PM ^
Those are nice. Cool Story Bro: a friend of mine from college is one of the defensive coaches for Army.

As an Airman stationed at Ft Bragg, home of the 82nd Airborne, it's cool to see a nod to their heritage. It would be even cooler though if the let the Commander in Chief Trophy winning Air Force airdrop them onto the field for the game.
December 5th, 2016 at 1:58 PM ^
Basically we've become Army right?
Edit: Shit that comment's more accurate than I would've liked. Just went back and checked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army%E2%80%93Navy_Game

My wife is a West Point grad, end of the football season has been pretty rough forever it seems in our home.

and then Michigan grad school, so he's expecting a second heartbreaking defeat this fall
December 5th, 2016 at 2:25 PM ^
Again....looking at 15 straight.
This game will be much closer this year. Navy lost their starting QB and slot last week. We are down to our third string QB. Army is much better this year and they beat Temple, a team we lost to last week.

The army guys are busy getting ready to fight in a war, not just float around in the water like the navy.

The Naval Academy also has Marines, who fight wars by land, by sea and by air. Semper Fi Army vet.

Army really needs to win one of these.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:01 PM ^
I don't like the idea of rolling out a different uniform for special games. And I generally don't like how apparel companies try to tell a story about how this uniform recognizes some past story.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:20 PM ^
...but I think these are great.
I finished your post for you. Plus it is Army-Navy, let them do what they want if the players approve.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:27 PM ^
The Army/Navy uniforms for the Army/Navy game have been amazing the past few years. Neither team holds a uniform design that long, and neither have a unique/traditional look anymore. If anything always changing around uniforms represents the flexibility our fine young servicemen and women have.
December 5th, 2016 at 10:53 PM ^
All of Navy's recent graphic innovation for their football uniforms has just been compensation for the flammable digital blueberry blouses that everyone who isn't on the football team has had to wear.

I airdroped members of the 82d Airborne Corps many times in my AF career and they didn't look ANYthing like those guys.
But seriously, those are pretty cool uniforms. The service acadamies can ususally do some pretty cool stuff with alternates. The Flying Tigers Air Force helmets were one of my absolute favorites.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:10 PM ^
All I remember from airdrop with the army was a bunch of dudes loaded down with so much gear they looked like turtles getting on the plane. High altitude drops with the spec forces guys were more fun as you didn't feel as much like a flying assembly line.

The epitome of the assembly line feeling was when we did the "elevator" drops at Lawson AAF, near Ft Benning, for the Airborne basic course. Several lifts per day so that they could get their wings.

The webbing on the helmet is supposed to mimic the webbing on the US army helmets during WWII.
"All-American" across the chest apparently is the nickname for the 82nd (with the famous AA patch).
I "think" the Devil patch is in honor of the 508th Parachute/Infantry Regiment (Red Devils, or Fury from the Sky) of the 82nd.

go here for all the details
December 5th, 2016 at 4:55 PM ^
They should just put Rita Hayworth on the helmets- thats the pix guys were staring at back then
December 5th, 2016 at 2:21 PM ^
I don't like them. Too much black. It's a goofy font for the numbers. It's going to look like crap on TV.
Navy has those awesome anchor helmets and Army looks like crap. At least its not fully-body camo.
December 5th, 2016 at 2:40 PM ^
too much black? Heaven forbid the "Black Knights" wear black?
PS Fear the Goat, Go Navy, beat Army!
December 5th, 2016 at 2:50 PM ^
You're right, they will be dressed for their own funeral.
December 5th, 2016 at 4:52 PM ^
The full-body camo uniforms are fucking awesome. Don't care what anyone says.

Can't wait to go to this game on Saturday. I have no real rooting interests in this game, as all of these guys are the definition of badass (football practice + training + class....how the hell do you have time for anything?). But I do kind of hope Army pulls this one out, as I'd love to be there when they finally break through and beat Navy.
Been 15 long years for that program.
December 5th, 2016 at 3:16 PM ^
Enjoy the day! One hell of a rivalry and great atmosphere. Get inside a little early. You don't want to miss the March On, Prisoner Exchange, Navy Seals and Golden Knight Jumps, and flyovers etc.
December 5th, 2016 at 5:37 PM ^
My Dad says he wants to get there early enough to see the cadets march in. How early would you recommend getting there?
December 5th, 2016 at 7:20 PM ^
So I'd get there a little before that!

December 5th, 2016 at 3:53 PM ^
Coming from a former Marine, I love the uniforms, with one exception. Typically, you have to earn your special patches, army airborne being one of the more reserved and honored. If they were kept scared for only airborne members it would be more appropriate, those are earned, never given.
December 5th, 2016 at 4:24 PM ^
I don't think of the WWII at all when I see those.
Terrible uniforms. Arizona did a much better job with their USS Arizona jerseys.

I think the idea is great, but the execution was extremely poor.
I like the webbing on the helmets, but why not go olive green like military garb of that time, and have old fashioned style numbers instead of this futuristic nonsense?
December 5th, 2016 at 4:33 PM ^
Yep. Colors all wrong.
I also would love to see some black face paint like some of the troopers wore.
