OT Season is Nigh - CONFESS!!!

Submitted by WolveJD on August 26th, 2022 at 10:53 AM

I'm engaging in blatant MGoLarceny as someone better than me used to post a "CONFESS!" posting prior to OT season ending.  Still, I have not seen it, so here goes:

OT Season is coming to an end.  In order to purify yourself (whether in or out of the Waters of Lake Minnetonka), confess your darkest (but not THAT dark) sports sins.  The faked soccer injury to draw a red card, the placed Vegas bet AGAINST Michigan for a parlay, the secret MSU t-shirt you keep in your closet because your cousin/wife/kid/parent went there.  Let it all out...it's good for the soul.

I'll start:  I may or may not own a Buckeyes hat that I wear at the office when Michigan loses and I lose the inter-office bet with a Buckeye.

I have, however, not worn that hat in (checks watch) 1,000 days.

I took the under this year on 9.5 to hedge my bet, If the season goes terribly i still want to win money. And i also took msu and the over for the same reason.

Yup, I frequently hedge bet against Michigan.  I never regret paying for a win and while the money for a loss doesn't make up for it, at least there's some money in my pocket (which I often let my wife spend on something to make up for putting up with me being in a sour mood).

Did not bet on OSU last year just because I thought the odds were really bad.  Felt much better than the market about Michigan's chances.

I don't own the shirt any more, but I lost bets in the past and had to wear a Staee shirt to work and post it on FB for all the world to see...

As a Junior in High School, I went to MSU for wrestling camp.  I bought a Sparty football jersey with my last name on the back.  Two different high school girlfriends wore it, but I got it back both times.  Purchased in 1977 and I still have that shirt in my closet.  Graduated from Michigan in '82.

Nope, it doesn't fit anymore!

went to (graduate) school at the University of Wisconsin. Despite spending years in Madison, I escaped with a single piece of Wisconsin apparel.

However, I do have a Wisconsin-related confession. Between Madison and Ann Arbor, Madison is the superior college town. Even setting aside the college qualifier, I think Madison is just a better place than Ann Arbor.

The heart of Madison adds an extra degree of difficulty, since it's an isthmus, riddled with one-way streets, and broken in half by the Capitol Square. But on the whole, I don't think parking in Madison is much worse than any other midsized Midwestern city. If you know the city, it is not too difficult to find a parking space, especially if you can tolerate walking a few blocks. And just like any other city, Madison can feel like an unsolvable maze when you're a newcomer dealing with the combined stresses of navigating unfamiliar streets and finding a parking spot.
