Only rumors at this point. But this would be hilarious, and might drag Iowa's offense out of the Ferentz Zone.

I hope he gets a 25 ppg contract clause too lol

Actually...reliable sources for this seem to be pretty nonexistant. The Pat McAfee Show is not a reliable source, unless you want to hear Aaron Rodgers' opinion on Aaron Rodgers.

Let the negbombing commence?

That would be a great hire for Iowa. Frost always seemed to scheme good plays (at least against Michigan). The problem was getting his players to execute and/or not turn the damn ball over.

Sure. For example, if you scheme a nice pass play and the player drops the ball or the QB throws a stupid interception. I'd say that's a good play call with bad execution. Or if you set up a nice reverse that could go big except one receiver misses a block. Again, that would be a good play call with poor execution.

But if you're asking that receiver to block a DE, or that receiver never makes the block, then is it still a good play call?

Good play calling should take into account the strengths and weaknesses of your team.  Most of us have said that it was good play calling to run it 30+ against PSU, for example, and it's tough to call anything other than short passes if your QB has a popgun or your OL is an open door for pass rushers.

All that said, Frost will have some pieces to maneuver, and if he can deploy them to use their strengths and hide their weaknesses I would count it as a success.

Well, yeah. If you're asking the WR to block a DE, that might be a bad play call. I was thinking more about blocking a CB, which is more common than a crack block on a DE on a reverse.

If the coach is asking the player to do something they cannot do, or shouldn't be expected to be able to do, then it's obviously a bad play call. That's not what I was talking about and/or what I've seen from Scott Frost.

That's almost like Lincoln Riley going out and hiring Brian Ferentz to be his OC. Its just such a cultural and philosophical clash with the kind of offense Kirk Ferentz has run since.....forever.

Either way, it would be interesting to watch. Scott Frost's offenses at Nebraska were actually pretty interesting to watch at times and could get really creative with playcalling. You know, when they weren't busy vomiting all over themselves and coughing up the game.

I hereby pledge that IF Scott Frost gets hired at Iowa, I will do another season of Iowatch.

You don't get these kinds of comedic football opportunities often in life. It would be tempting fate to ignore it.

Went out offensive coordinator shopping after the AD canned his son

That's when his telephone unexpectedly rang and it was old Scott Frost's mom

Please won't you hire my all-time meat-headed Cornhusker roid-rage angry son?

Heyyy Hawkeye Football, who did you install?
