I have a seizure everytime I see them
September 5th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Nice helmets. And yes, im being 100% sarcastic.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:28 PM ^
Did you see a shot of their old "tortoise-pattern" helmets? Those were pretty fancy . . . .
September 6th, 2011 at 1:08 AM ^
Yes they do look different, but they look WAY better than the picutes I saw on here before.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
Wow. Those are awful. Awful afwul awful. They hurt my eyes.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
At a corporte event I attended a few months ago, the owner of Under Armor spoke of how he was trying to really create a brand centered around innovation, which can be hard to do in the sports word, thus it leads to them only being able to make visual changes. On that same trip I got to meet Tom Brady and his lovely wife.

This persona fills a satirical niche very nicely.
(Please let it be satire.)

Then did you drive your Porsche around?
September 5th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Danny O'Brien lost a ton of weight and became a sophomore QB and is on Maryland.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
I can't wait till I see the name HE HATE ME on the back of one of those Maryland jersey's.
September 5th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
He Hate Me ruled...
September 6th, 2011 at 1:54 AM ^
He Hate Me is the congealed, superdense, white-dwarf core of the XFL pop culture supernova. Still emitting high-energy radiation for many millions of years, He Hate Me is the only offhand reference anyone still remembers or utilizes in conversation. Now it has new life as an internet meme.
Cheers, sir!
September 6th, 2011 at 8:22 AM ^
besides the obvious Susie Kolber-Joe Namath "I want to kiss you" interview, was the intro XFL game interview with Rod Smart. First question:
"Who hate you?"
September 5th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
have been a ton of ugly uniforms this weekend. Maryland's may be the worst even though I thought Georgia's were god awful as well.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:08 PM ^
Absolutely atrocious. I thought Nike was bad about this kind of thing, but Under Armour just took it to a whole new level of ugly.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
Theyre giving me seizures. Secondly, wtf how are they even legal?!
September 5th, 2011 at 8:13 PM ^
worst unis ever. i think i literally said "lolwut" outloud.

Love em! Passion for fashion!
September 5th, 2011 at 8:19 PM ^
I like them. Something new isnt always bad to see....For me at least.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:20 PM ^
I kinda like them -- they got a sort of Medieval Times vibe that appeals to me. A lot better than the UGa or BSU unis.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
My buddy commented on how they look like the Templar Knights out there, but in all seriousness those things are awful.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
The other side belongs at a construction site, but oh well
September 5th, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
You realize that's the Maryland flag, right? I mean, it's a pretty stupid thing to put on a helmet like that, but it's not just random designs.
September 5th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
But that doesn't make the black/yellow side look any better
September 6th, 2011 at 7:34 AM ^
FTR, it is the only US state flag that is based on English heraldry. Neat story about the flag and how it came to be, but I think it translates poorly into a football uniform.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
They're about the only thing Maryland could do that qualifies as interesting. And it's really hard to look unique in college football these days.

Maryland's offense looks pretty good thus far.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:23 PM ^
Clearly, there was an explosion at a nearby condiment supply house.....
September 5th, 2011 at 10:10 PM ^
Were the players having a painter's tape party at the time, too?
September 6th, 2011 at 5:40 AM ^
Possibly they saw the commercial for Frog Tape, since the lines are VERY crisp. No smearing at all between the ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:25 PM ^
Looking at the comments above, Maryland's uniforms have achieved their purpose - they got people's attention.
There is no such thing as bad publicity.

"There is no such thing as bad publicity."
Plaese don't let Dave BRANDon hear that.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:25 PM ^
It looks like Maryland was involved in an all out ketchup/mustard fight in the locker room.

The checkerboard side has grown on me, but the other side... not so much. Maryland has a huge new set of unis. I actually like these:
I really like the flat black helmets. Meanwhile, UMaryland blows a chance to go up big with a pick inside the 5 yd line.
September 5th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Flat black helmets are just plain awesome
September 6th, 2011 at 12:22 AM ^
Or when baboons "present".
September 5th, 2011 at 8:26 PM ^
Yuck those things are fugly... helmet should resamble a paper bag....
September 5th, 2011 at 8:48 PM ^
September 5th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
I did a double take when I saw those uniforms. Just ugh!
September 5th, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
Maybe they are designed to make the opposing team nauseous. In which case, brilliant.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:40 PM ^
I blame the Maryland QB Danny O'Brien's decision to throw the 2yd pick in the endzone (rather than taking the walk-in touchdown) on the helmets.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
They wore different helmets for warmups! so between warmups and the game they all had to switch helmets! The marketing people are now affecting the actual game/players preperation. This is ridiculous.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:33 PM ^
I thought the tortoise pattern helmets were actually kinda cool. The idea of incorporating the Maryland state flag into the jersey is a cool idea - they do have a pretty nifty flag - but it just doens't work IMO.
September 5th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
I rewound to the video from warmups. They had the white tortoise shell helmets and the uniforms were a more basic white design with red and yellow piping. Then they came out with the Maryland flag design on the jersey AND the helmet. I think they changed both after warmups!
