OT: Lock it down, this Sparty's fear sums it up.
Yeah, I'm in the same "why are we talking about State?" boat, but this singular RCMB post had four of us absolutely rolling. It's just an ambrosia-like morsel of pure comedy and sadness all rolled into one.
Enter, SpartyHardy: (emphasis mine, all [sic]s retained, of course)
As a Spartan fan this is an absolute living nightmare...truly the apocalypse. I feel bad for my Spartan brethren in Michigan who will have to suffer all the verbal abuse that Walvie Nation will be heaping on them if what I considered before the tournament started the unimaginable...the absolute unthinkable...happens on Monday night...and if it does...it will forever go down as Black Monday and further proof that...1. there is in fact no God...or 2. if in fact there is a God...he really does hate MSU and it's fans more than we ever could have imagined.
And even better....there's a part Two:
I can't even begin to comprehend what it must be like back in my old homeland right now. I wish I could save y'all from this unbearable agony and misery we are being put through. None of this makes any sense to me at all. This is absolutely devoid of any kind of real logic. This is the 5th place team in the B1G we are talking about here...the FUCKING FIFTH!!!! And they are playing for the NC....and all I can think of is....WHY? FUCKING WHY???? How does shit like this be allowed to HAPPEN...and WHO THE FUCK SCRIPTED THIS ONE?
Stay safe out there today, kids, and may the Angry Michigan State Fan Hating God (AMSFHG) bless and keep you.
I'm in support of option 2
God's punishment for not being able to get into Michigan. . .
people like me, who also could not get into Michigan, are not worthy of rooting for Michigan teams because we didn't get into the school? Get over yourself.
Your attempt at logic certainly sheds some light on why you couldn't get in to Michigan, as do your inability to take a joke for what it is and your retarded tagline.
Marlon, you okay there? I'm just worried, ya know, because there's no CBS in Bolivian, and I hear you're thinking of buying a plane ticket there.
You missed the point. Do you have a pathological hatred for Michigan because you didn't get in? No, and good on you for that. The post you responded to was clearly a joke. You might be the one who needs to get over yourself if you get so defensive.
Between your screen name and your defensive response, it appears that you are a little bitter.
I love all of their various "run ins" with comically over-the-top Walmart Wolverines.
You can file every single one of those stories under shitthatneverhappened.jpeg.
I also find it funny how nearly every one of those stories lacks complete self awareness, like...
"If Walmart is so horrible and beneath you, why are you shopping there?"
"What are you doing with your life that you're in the same social circles as a lot of these goons?"
"Why are you having so many of these awkward social interactions where people are randomly coming up to you and talking shit about State? Is there anything you're doing to instigate or spur these situations into happening?"
To be honest, I find a healthy portion of Michigan's fanbase absolutely insufferable. Some people have zero investment in the teams and seem to bathe in the glory when we're winning but quickly turn on the players and the coaching staff when we're not. We have never gone as far as ND did (when they pelted Weis and the team with snowballs) but we sure as hell have come close. Other fanbases see that and we get pissy when they point it out...
To make myself clear, I'm not accusing Michigan's fanbase of being the only fanbase with this problem... but it's definitely an issue. The "walvarine" persona represents a bandwagon fan who did not go to Michigan and has no investment in the team, if you don't think those fans exist and make up a large portion of our fanbase, frankly, you're not being honest with yourself.
the great thing on rcmb was somebody bumped up a post from 6 months ago talking mass shit about how awful Mcgary is. classic lol.
That's the best 100%-wrong-in-hindsight post I've ever read.
I'm the one who bumped that thread. Yes im a troll and I find it fun.
double post
Sparty on!!
Most I know haven't.. every game we keep winning they are trying to find ways to say the refs favored UM in every one.. Specially last night on such a "controversial" call that somehow "decided" the game
Indeed. And for its next act Michigan will be a top-tier program for a long, long time to come.
The best way to troll Sparty is not to be too excited actually. Basketball has been Lil Brother's sport where they were good and now they're suddenly Lil Bro. I had a Spartan coworker come by my desk to talk basketball and i was like "Yeah, yeah, what's his name is really turning the team around and that Gary kid is awesome. Here check out this Youtube video of the Michigan Drill, Kyle Kalis kills this guy!".
Poor Sparty was foaming about the mouth about how the Final Four appearance was wasted on Michigan because we "don't appreciate basketball properly".
Oh my god I haven't laughed this hard in a while. Well played, CRex. Well played indeed.
Every friend I have that goes to MSU said wait till VCU, M can't handle pressure. Then, wait till Kansas, Withey will dominate McGary. Then, wait till Florida, Burke won't be hitting 30 footers again. Then, wait till Syracuse, their zone will suffocate M. Now, I have been told if Louisville plays well, M will lose by 20. Who does M play after they win on Monday?
That Mitch McGary thread is gold. Some of those jokes were actually pretty funny- laughed out loud at a few of them. I get the feeling Mitch isn't going to be too popular in the coming years during Big Ten play....
"Mitch McGary remembers the Alamo"
"It has to be annoying for the rest of the team when McGary's Life Alert goes off every time he hits the floor, but he makes it up to them by letting the team take turns riding his hoveround."
"I drove behind a Buick LeSabre with a "UM Basketball" bumper sticker today. It was going 57mph in the left lane with the blinker on the whole time.Think it was Mitch?"
"The thing that I think bugs me the most is that while I only got to play Oregon Trail on the computer in high school, Mitch McGary got to live it."
Where the hell did the "Mitch McGary is old" thing come from? And are they whining because he is older and that's somehow cheating? People take prep years all the time, and he's a freshman. It's not like when you have an older kid on a high school team and it seems fishy. Get over it, sparty.
It's especially strange for MSU fans to call attention to McGary being 20 when one of their own players, Adreian Payne, is a 22-year-old junior.
But if we manage to pull it out tomorrow, Sparty will go on suicide watch. We'll have taken their one fallback sport where they could claim any form of dominance over us and won it all. They will have nothing to fall back on anymore.
Except we have won something. I get sick of people who say Final Four teams don't win anything, especially Fab Five haters. Bob Knight (an OSU alum who is the basketball Woody) dismissed the Fab Five as having won nothing. While I hope the team wins on Monday night, I'm proud of them regardless. If they lose, it doesn't mean they've won nothing. They certainly have accomplished a great deal, especially since I had my expectations set on a sweet sixteen finish and anything else was gravy. I sure like gravy...
...those six consecutive High Kick Pompon championships?
What did Izzo do?
It's much ado about nothing. During an interview before the game with Syracuse he was asked if he would cheer for Michigan. He basically just said "no" but included some tongue in cheek responses as well. The video is here.
http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2013/04/06/tom-izzo-i-think-its-illegal-to-cheer-for-your-rival/
Edit: it is of course possible that inthebluelot was talking about some other comments Izzo made that I am unaware of.
How did this become a thing basically two years ago? There was never this many shit posts here on MGoBlog. What are you? Michigan State's little brother? Drawing your satisfaction from Michigan's acomplishments by the ire it draws out of Michigan State's fan base?
Do you post this same shit on Brian Cooks posts??? 2 years of this huh? smh.
Oh his schadefreude posts that take a sampling of the entire country after a week of football? No, because that's clearly not directed at one team as some sort of way to gain satisfaction from Michigan winning, because aparently Michigan winning simply isn't enough.
You'd have a point if this wasn't a daily occurence.
ok so you know what this post is. it has been going on for "2 years" and yet here you are posting on this thread.
Look, my tolerance for schadenfreude is fairly low. After a while, it becomes tedious. This little nugget was just so far beyond the median, however, that it deserved its own shout-out.
I mean, how can you not chuckle at this guy? It's like the foreword to an Apocalypse novel. And trust me, I'm spending far, far more time celebrating how much Michigan has accomplished with my fellow fans and alums than I am trolling Sparty's message boards.
