I take it this show takes place in an alternate universe?

This was filmed for the Revolution pilot, but was later cut out. Final world series before the world ends on the show and the Cubbies would've won it.

The second "Back To The Future" film estimated this happening just a few years later, of course...

It has been too long since I've seen that film.
Also there was that playstation commercial this year for the 2012 MLB The Show game that showed what would happen if that came true. I hope some day that I live through this IRL.

I just checked on my Droid and it worked just fine.
I'm NOT trying to start an apple vs droid flamewar, just being informative.

and this celebration would be so awesome, not that I really care for the Cubs.

Whom they beat? It was Miami.

It's funny that this was also a joke back in the '80s. Poor Cubs.

"Cubs Win World Series" has become THE sight gag in seemingly any cinema or TV involving a trip to the future. I hope it never gets that bad for the Lions.
October 2nd, 2012 at 2:35 AM ^
Well, the Lions still haven't been to the Super Bowl.

I hear people rave about Dr. Who, and I see how gaga people go over it, so I've tried to watch a few episodes. Can someone please explain the appeal? Whatever it is, it's completely lost on me.

Bow ties are cool.

Thanks Dhani, but I still don't get it. I kinda feel the same way about Dr. Who as I did when all my friends thought Walker Texas Ranger was cool. And not in a funny, sarcastic way either.

its pretty standard sci-fi stuff most of the time but the characters develop pretty well and change often enough that they don't get too stale. if you want to try another episode I'd recommend blink, its one of the best.

British humor.
October 2nd, 2012 at 7:49 AM ^
But it is for people who like quick, semi-manic British humor centered around some standard sci-fi adventures and some above standard sci-fi adventures. The characters are well written and it can be kooky or poignent from one moment to the next.
And watch the new Who (2005), the old has not aged well if you're not looking through nostalgia glasses. If you're having a hard time getting into it, give the 11th Doctor's first episode a short (The 11th Hour in Series 5), or you can try some of the classics like Blink, The Girl in the Fireplace, or Silence in the Library.
A note on premise: The Doctor is an near ageless dude who has multiple incarnations. Every time he dies, he reincarnates as a "new" Doctor. We're currently on the 11th. He flies through time with a couple human hanger-ons, generally sight seeing and adventuring, but always ends up having to fix something wherever he lands.

You may be too young to really enjoy it. They latest incarnation of this long running series is pretty cool, but watching the old ones, man it is like going back in time.

It's mostly the quirky humor and the relatively unpredictable storylines, which is saying a lot, given how long the series has been on. The occasional sad parts work well too, because the characters are so well developed.

and it's a total nit, but it's Doctor Who, not Dr. Who. Never abbreviated. It's just a thing. I recommend going back to the beginning of the new series with Series 1 and Chris Eccleston as the short-lived 9th Doctor. The Empty Child was a really good episode.
Blink from Series 3 with the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) was really good and scary.
A lot of the series can have some pretty corny British humor, but as someone else stated, the characters and relationships are developed pretty well over the course of years. If you're not into sci-fi and British shows, probably not the one for you.
Sidenote: Saw the special Doctor Who in America, but not the fall finale, so this was a TOTAL spoiler! ;)
Sadly, I was probably in NYC for work around the time they filmed. Had I but known...

But "Doctor Who" sometimes is.
(And to make it all tie back into college football, someone noticed that the Mountain West must be Who fans)

If you see such a headline, isn't that an indicator that someone's been messing with the past?

Matter is anti-matter!
Losers are winners...and hence the Lions win the Superbowl!
