The First Responder Bowl between Boise State and Boston College has been canceled due to inclement weather and tornado warnings in the area. A lot of people on social media are pissed.

I think it sucks that it got canceled, but the safety of people at the stadium is top priority so this makes sense

Not 100% sure that it's even possible to be much lamer than this. Do you just go around looking for places that might vaguely accommodate that ridiculous meme? Do you think that law enforcement and public safety officials--let alone the sponsors, with their huge investment in the game--would take shutting the damned thing down at all lightly?

Back in my day, when there was lightning, we still walked to school. Waving golf clubs and standing under trees. But we didn't complain. We were thankful. We couldn't afford no store bought electricity, so when we got hit by lightning, we took all that extra free electricity home to share with the whole family.

I'm with you.  Just give everyone an AR when they enter the stadium and let them blast the shit out of that tornado (or tornada I guess.  Don't need the me too crowd on my ass) when it tries to infringe on them.  That's what my grandpa woulda done.

Nothing says "meaningless bowl game" like one that is not even worth rescheduling.

This should be our new test if a bowl is meaningless or not:  Would they reschedule it if it got cancelled? (And everyone would come back.)

CFP games:  Check.

NY6 Rose Bowl:  Check.

NY6 Sugar Bowl:  Check.

NY6 Orange Bowl:  Check.

NY6 Cotton Bowl:  Probably Check

NY6 Fiesta Bowl:  Depends.  Not this year.

NY6 Peach Bowl:  Depends.  Not this year.

All other bowls:  Forget it.

This whole thing about bowl being meaningless is absurd.  Will you really not be watching it?  Does the fact that it won't be rescheduled make it meaningless?  If it were actually meaningless, do you think they'd play it at all?  You might not be into it, fine.  There are things all over the world that I am personally not into.  That does not make them meaningless.

I care about the bowl game.  It matters to me whether Michigan is in the Peach Bowl or the RedBox Bowl, or misses a bowl altogether.  And beating Florida is better than losing to them.  Therefore this game is not meaningless to me.  You can decide how much meaning it has for you, but stop making that decision for the rest of us.

taps robf on the shoulder:  you know, rob, you are required to have a go-pro camera strapped to your forehead and to record all the great stuff leading up to, and including, our victory.  please find that tailgate and say 'hello' to all the maize and blue faithful.

They are scammers.  I used them last year to clean my house after a fire.  Final bill was $20k and would have been a lot higher if I hadn’t told them to remove all the fans they left in my house not being used.  They charge the insurance company a high daily rate so no wonder they just left them.  To me, that’s fraud and will never use them again (hopefully no service like that again).

Imagine spending all that money to travel from Boise, Idaho to Dallas for the game, and it gets cancelled in the first quarter. I hope some of those people find a way to get refunds for something.

It makes sense to protect the players, spectators, and staff.  But it must also suck for two teams that did prepare for this game and were, I assume, somewhat excited about it.  And Boise St. had a chance at 11 wins if they won that game; that's a mark not a ton of teams get to regardless of level of competition.

I'm failing to see how the phrase "better safe than sorry" in reference to a potential lawsuit makes me a snowflake who is ruining the country.  In reality, it's probably the whack-jobs who freak out about miniscule shit like this that are the problem.
