Submitted by MMB 82 on

Because I am coming to AA this weekend for business, and I know I am really going to need several

You calling Roger Sterling a ninny? Nothing the least bit girly about a true a dry martini of gin and dry vermouth, or even the perfect martini of gin, dry vermouth and sweet vermouth the OP called for. I recommend the Grange on Liberty for an awesome hand-crafted cocktail.

Martini drinkers are brought up, and it's not James Bond.
Though your OP made me think we went from moonshine to keg stands with the coaching change. What would Lloyd be? Sipping brandy, wearing as ascot?

... made me imagine him sitting in his expansive library, surrounded by history professors and foreign dignitaries, listening to Pat Suzuki's version of The Victors, while talking about the Good War and quipping, "Meeting FDR was like opening your first bottle of champagne; knowing him was like drinking it."

yep, that's what it made me think. Weird, I know.

Have the T-shirt. And trust me, it is on my list of stops this weekend (I am looking forward to a nice Porter Flight). But sometimes there is absolutely nothing like a perfect, ice-cold Martini to un-fuck your head when you really need it. And I am absolutely positive I am going to really need it. My preferred method is to just have the bartender crack my skull open and pour it directly on my brain....

if you don't get distracted by the superior wine offerings.

And Gandy Dancer. I'd say those are the two best bars for business meetings. You can get a good martini in either place. They both used to have Noilly Prat vermouth; not sure if it even matters anymore since they ruined Noilly Prat.

They have good-sized martinis, and cocktails (solid menu) are half price during Happy Hour, which is not only weekdays from 3-5, but also on Thurs-Sat nights from 10 pm to close. By the way, pints of draught beer are $3, and 12-oz. bottles are $2..

Full menu, including beverages (except the cocktail menu for some reason) can be found on their website: redhawkannarbor.com.

La Dolce Vita if you've got the need for a cigar and a nice single malt, but if you want a martini I'd say Gracies.

Although it sounds like it's your first time in the area if you're asking recommendations, so maybe you should try The Landing Strip in Romulus. I think they do deals on a bucket of beer and crabs....

They have VERY generous portions as well. I personally get either jack and coke or long islands when I go there.. Knights, Webbers, and Westside Banfields (zeeb and baker) are all not stingy on their drinks and ALL have good deals.

i understand this is a thread about drinking, but I don't understand what is so good about knights steak. sure their ground beef that is used at restaurants like red hawk is the best you can get in town, but for grilling at your house, the selection of different grinds at whole foods is better, and for steaks sparrows blows knights out of the water, its not even close

You must not go there often. Because their steaks are definitely not applebees quality.

You do realize it's their meat market which supplies most of the top restaurants in the Ann arbor area..

Black Pearl followed by Babs. The black pearl is going to be the nicest place, but if you are interested in smoking a cigar head to babs.

I don't drink martinis but the place I'd like to find myself on any given night is Ashley's with a nice Stone beer. Had office hours there before, never a business meeting.
