Yes, looked like he hurt his hand or wrist a few minutes earlier. Missed him at the end. We played true to style. Got beaten badly in the paint, on the boards, and just didn't shoot well enough from 3 to turn the game. That said, Waltons shot looked good to me when it left his hand. Just a bit short. Still a successful season but losing by 1 is tough.

They only got out-rebounded bhy 5 for the game, 4 on the offensive end.  I don't know why people think they were mauled on the boards.  They had a couple missed ones at the end, but this was a rough game between two evenly-matched teams won in the last minute.

Missed 20 long balls. That is a lot in a big game. If they make 5 of those 20, it's a completely different game. Obviously. Cant live and die by the three. Needed to have that inside game a little. In this offense you see a ton of movement but there isn't enough going on away from the ball. So many oppurtunities for the other guys to get open shots and mismatches into the paint. This action also screws up the opponents help defense on the ball. Even if you don't get a switch or a good screen, you are still setting yourself up for a descent position in the paint. Guys like DJ and Wagner shouldn't usually be standing out beyond the arc. Yes they can hit shots but I cant help but dream about how lethal of a game they could have in the mid range game. I think Beilein should change up the offense some next year to get those guys utilized in that sense. It's only going to open up the outside shooting so the boys aren't smothered from getting their good looks.

Everyone will 2nd guess everything from this game for years. Losing by one in a goofy game like that will do it. So many missed opportunities. We could snowflake this one for years

That was a perfect bounce to Higgins in the chaos of a last second play. This was a free throw where you get positional advantage and have the luxury of knowing where your guy is lined up and when that guy is allowed to move from that spot. Up three with the ball ready to run the clock under 1 minute with a good free throw shooting team is about an 85 % look at winning. I'm just bitter. The sun will rise.

One thing I wish JB would do is recruit guys like Bell. I don't like what I see from Jon T. Hopefully he proves me wrong. Noah Dickerson would help. He is transferring from Washington and If I remember right he was down to Washington and Michigan. Oregon used a lineup that totally took Mo out of the game. Seems if he starts off good he is confident rest of game and like today he missed some and stuff was hard for him to get open and boy did he look awful. At least we don't have to worry about either one going pro now.

if he was hurt.

It's just so fucking frustrating. I really believe we were the better team and that was a game we could have won, and won by more than a bucket or two.

I think Oregon was honestly the worst of the 3 teams we played. We just couldn't quite bring our best tonight. So painful.

^This exactly.

Altman, in his post-game comments, said they should have fouled Walton sooner.   I'm sure Walton gets fouled going to the hoop.  Depending on how much time is left, we have a last second inbounds play which gives us a chance, but NOTHING is guaranteed.   People complaining about no TO from JB - maybe he was anticipating the foul and wanted to save the TO for an inbounds play diagram.

We got a clean look from our hottest shooter and it didn't go in.  I have no complaints about that last shot.

He drives and they foul him and then it's an inbounds play with 2.5 to go. He got himself an open shot. It was in his range. It didn't go in. Burke's fell against Kansas, Walton's didn't. It happens. Far more frustrating were the missed 3s from Wagner and that easy dunk Wilson passed up. We lost by 1. We could've won. We also could have lost by more. It's tournament basketball.

I'm telling you, that was a great look for that time left to start the possession, two fouls to give.

Also, FUCK YOU REFS that they only had 3 fouls on them at that point in the game. Particularly that they didn't have 4 when that fucker from Oregon got beat by Derrick and recovered by, you know, FOULING

ah fucking hell

UP 3, rebound and Michigan probably wins it.  Duncan Robinson had two 3s half way down, Walton's 3 go's in most of the time to send them to the elite eight.  It's sick, but hell of a run!

Really tough loss, never an easy loss, especially in the S16. But rewind 3 weeks many never would have thought we'd be here. I'm grateful for the run, PROUD TO BE A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!! Great run guys, thanks!

It was a really good game and we lost when our last shot did not go in.

What a great season.

John Beilien is a great coach and wonderful human being.

There is no fucking reason in the world to question the last shot or the game.

I love this team.

The put back off of Brooks' miss was bad luck but understandable. Wilson had to help to alter the layup and Irvin got pinned behind the screen. Stuff like that is why Michigan should send at least one person to the offensive glass. Some will fall in your lap. The one on the free throw hurts. Would have had the ball up three.

8 weeks ago Beilein was fired and this team sucked and we didn't develop talent and we would get crushed during a gauntlet stretch yada yada Snowflake is Wagner played like poo and wants to come back stronger Wilson can be a lottery pick if he sticks around another year B1G gets weaker with WI and Purdue getting younger Beilein keeps his talent and gets a brand new wave of talent + a top transfer Go Blue

No reason to nitpick, dissect, criticize.  Had the ball in THE MAN's hands and had a clean look.  Can't ask for much more than that.

Great season, unBEILEINvable effort!  Gonna have a great football season then can't wait for next year's version of hoops.

I haven't went back and looked, but judging by where Bell rebounded it, I'm guessing Bell did the Dwight Howard move. Tap the outside shoulder of the guy boxing you out, get him leaning away from the basket, and then make a quick shuffle or spin move around his back and seal inside position. It's a tough move when you're a smaller guy worried about having a big guy push you under the rim. Not an excuse, but also not an easy box out.
