Observation and a question about Gary regarding Crystal Balls

Submitted by Bones032 on

Was thinking about Rashan Gary this morning, and thought this was a decent thing to create my first ever thread about.

Kind of an observation and a question.

Since August 2014, there have been 38 Crystal Ball predictions for Gary.

37 have been for Michigan, and 1 was for Auburn on 07/11/15. The 4 before August 2014 were for Alabama. So that means 0 have come in for Clemson, also means every pick since July has been for UM.

Has there ever been a player who has chosen a school that had 0 crystal balls before? Seems insane to me. I mean I am sure there has been some lower ranked guy who only had like 3 CBs total who picked a different school. But I wonder if any top 200ish guy who had a  good amount of predictions has ever choosen someone out of leftfield.

That helped me feel more calm about him, 37 of the last 38, including the last 25 have all been for UM. Go Blue.

The one thing Clemson has that we dont have is an Uncle who lives 15 minutes away. We have several things going our way that they dont have and I need not name them again. I would say, the most telling thing I have seen thus far about his recruitment is, on his last visit, for the first time in all of his recruitment, at any school, he looked like he was having fun!!!!  I thought we actually saw him and other recruits very comfortable and having a ball. I think this is very telling.

Gary can go visit his uncle whenever he likes. A decision like this comes down to making a football decision and comfortability. Anyone who saw the video's/pics that I saw would say he was very comfortable and probably more than I have seen him on any other visit.

This is why he signs with us.

with Gary. Either something was always missing in Ann Arbor and he discovered what it was when he visited Clemson OR deliberate NSD drama. It takes courage to break off an engagement.

It just seemed like you were questioning if he had the courage to break-off from his friends and coaches and relationships here. It sounded like a challenge to him. That kind of stuff can be easily misunderstood especially if his mom or relatives were reading this stuff. And yes I do apologize for my language

Dude be easy...he's just saying that it would be pretty hard to tell his friends, whom believed all along he was coming here to go about face and head to Clemson. No one is questioning his toughness, frankly I think he gets his toughness from his mom. She seems like a very smart and strong-minded person.

Seems pretty obvious to me what's happening behind the scenes. Rashan knows he's coming to Michigan but why not create a little drama for the announcement? He's the #1 player in the country and this "drama" is making money for some of the recruiting analysts he's become close with over the past couple years (Sam in particular). Maybe I'm just a huge homer but it all seems like drummed up, feaux drama to create even more anticipation/attention for tomorrow.

since it's a good question. Has there ever been a 4 or 5* (maybe high 3*) recruit to sign with a school that he has never been ballezd to?

I will lose it. I briefly gave up on recruiting after that loss, but a lot of that had to do with Hoke and the downward spiral of the program as wll.  After we landed Harbaugh I went all in again on recruiting because HARBAUGH.  If Gary goes to Clemson, it would break my soul.  Hand to Bama was a kick to the balls, Gary to Clemson would be castration.

He is supposedly one of the top D-linemen of the past 5 years, can't miss prospect, etc.  We need guys like this for national titles.

Unlikely perhaps but still entirely possible.

At the end of the day, these so called experts really don't know squat about what Gary is actually thinking. Only Gary and maybe his Mom know that.

Actually, Gary had some other CBs in the meantime that were then either removed or changed to Michigan. He had various Ole Miss ones pop up about a month ago or around then. So your timeline isn't accurate.

Cory Fravel who's apparently a Clemson insider.  His history isn't too impressive though.  65% correct overall and he's missed on a couple guys who didn't go to Clemson this cycle:

Bryan Edwards
Clark Yarbrough

Before people start jumping off cliffs, they should look at the CB records of these guys to see if there's any reason for concern.

Looks like Clemson has their own Counter Strike guy...

"Thought I would post to you guys too. I just got a text from colleague and big time Clemson booster that Gary will be a tiger. His exact text said that he wished he would announce in next 10 minutes due to all the help UM has in his area but as of right now, he will commit to Clemson.

Weird coming from a Carolina fan but I have a REALLY good Clemson source that gives a lot of money to the school. He wouldn't BS me"
