You want to be the smartest guy in the room.  The one everyone looks up to.  And you're telling everyone that their efforts are futile, that they shouldn't have independent thoughts from yours.

Maybe, just maybe, you aren't the smartest guy in the room.  Cause you may not understand, that you can't control other people having thier own thoughts.

Admittedly, I did ease off the brakes because people basically wouldn't quit and I figured perhaps it would cease eventually, but I did begin some background cleanup of certain threads, so your options in the first couple pages of threads should be somewhat.....streamlined.

But can I just say this before never saying another word...Ive been a diehard for over 4 decades.I Attend as many of the big events as humanely possible, Final 4s, bowl games and such...In all that time Ive hardly EVER said one word about officiating..You win some You lose some and it all seems to even out in the end....Having said that? That was one of the WORST offiiciated games I have EVER EVER Seen...I remember turning to someone at the TV watching tailgate in the 3rd quarter and saying..Somethings up with these officials when EVERY SINGLE BREAK and close calls and missed penalties when it Ohios Favor.....SUMMIN UP with that!

Thats it case closed not another word

It's not a major story to most ESPN sports outlets. They're totally downplaying this whole issue. I recorded every ESPN show and no one talked about some of the refs being from Ohio and their backgrounds. It was like all the ESPN people were told not to bring up that subject or they either just didn't know about it. Though some did say the officiating was suspect, questionable and even one sided.

Because we're making it a much bigger deal than anybody else thinks it is. It's Monday, and non-Michigan fans have already moved on, and rightfully so. I would. If shitty officiating happened to Clemson or someone, I'd say, wow that sucks, and then not care an hour later. Nobody cares.

The integrity of the game was compromised on Saturday when the Big Ten allowed an OSU fan to officiate the game as if he was an objective party. That affects every team everywhere. This is Busch league WWE stuff, not what you expect in college football.

As has been stated ad nauseum now, the issue here isn't "shitty officiating", but rather the presence of conflict of interest and appearance of impropriety. That goes right to the heart of sportsmanship and fair play, which is why the Big Ten's "statement" is so galling.

I don't know who you're friends with, but I assure you that isn't the case with the people I know.  It's a function of having lived all over the country, but I know fans of a ton of different schools are are almost as irate about this as many of us are.  Just because the media doesn't care (right now), doesn't mean that "nobody outside of the Michigan fan base cares anymore".  That's just not true.

Wasn't any different on College Sports Nation either.  They only talked about the spot and how we got out yarded 127-5 in the 4th.  The national perspective seems to be more in the nature of "every game has it's missed calls" blah blah blah.  These must be people that do not watch the game as intently as we do.

It's kind of interesting that the very platform that was credited in being instrumental to the groundswell that brought about the downfall of Dave Brandon is cutting off at the knees the groundswell that is sending shockwaves throughout the Big Ten's headquarters in Chicago that actually could cause change. What's happening here by everyone who wants to stop talking about this is exactly what the Big Ten wants to have happen. Might as well just take Dave's advise: quit drinking and go to bed.

Respectfully, you're right about "ripping on the refs", but wrong about nothing of importance coming from this. You'll just have to trust me that despite the public statement of "no further statement" they absolutely have taken notice that people are inordinately pissed. Their only hope is that it just fizzles out so that they don't have to actually address it.

Is that Jim would simply ask one question at his next presser.  "Why were those particular officials chosen and what was the criteria used for the selection?"

It's a simple question and one that should be easy to answser IF there was nothing nefarious in the selection.  If there was more going on (and I strongly suspect their was) it will be an impossible question to answer.

If Jim asks it the B1G will be in one hell of a box IMO.

Brian is followed by major sports media sites like ESPN and Yahoo Sports. He has more progressively become a source of breaking news as recent as the "Speight Out For Season" post. If Brian posted an article directly implicating these officials with their backgrounds on the front page, with that being the whole intent of the article, I guarantee you it would circulate this news story across all major Sports media outlets. He obviously has the right to choose to not go that route, but to say that Brian doesn't have an impact on the mainstream media market is incorrect.

I don't think it really has anything to do with that. Brian is very particular about what he writes that could be taken as semi-controversial. I don't blame him for that. It's not an easy position to be in. I don't think he's obligated to do anything about it, but I do think what he could say about it would be very impactful.

I'm not sure you're right. If he did it was completely buried somewhere. There was no front page post. There was a tacit admission in a mid-week UV or something that "Speight might play" followed by "This is not a report" but nothing saying he was wrong, especially after Speight started Saturday.

If we started a go fund me or some sort of fundraising campaign we could run ads to embarrass them and put public pressure on them. I bet we would get a lot of support from other fan bases too that don't want their team to be next. Everyone I talked to today thinks that game was rigged.
