I saw the other topic digress away from football so I thought I would start anew.
First, I'm not going to compare QB to QB, RB to RB, etc. YOu can't compare Kirk to Denard. It's an apple to orange comparison and they won't be playing against each other anyways.
First, I will start with my key's to the game.
1. Can MSU's Oline hold up? I am a frequent lurker so I know that the majority of this board thinks our OLine is a joke. I will freely admit it is our largest concern, but don't just think UM is going to roll in and dominate. The OLine played pretty well against OSU in not allowing a sack and had a respectable 4.5 YPC until the 4th quarter prevent offense came in. I don't expect us to run as well as we did against UM last year, but if we can just run enough to keep Mattison honest, we should be ok. Also, the Oline has to hold up against the blitz packages. If UM wins this game, it is because Martin and VanBergen dominate.
2. Can Denard protect the ball? Our defense is good. Probably the best you have faced this year. I'm not saying we are LSU or Alambama good, but our DLine is deep and talented. Our secondary has ball hawks every where. Johnny Adams and Trenton Robinson picked Denard last year. Our other starting corner (Darqueze Denard) had the one handed ESPN pick against OSU. Our new starting safety Isiah Lewis is a huge hitter and although he is a first year starter, he is a big upgrade over Hyde from last year. Our starting linebackers a
