Eloquently stated sir. Couldn't have stated my own sentiments about this blog any better. I'm grateful for it as well.
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Hmmm||
I never thought about it until I saw you write this. I absolutely should have kept that letter.
What a huge day that was in my life. I did manage to keep all the recruiting letters I recieved because that seemed fun but nothing shaped my life more than that U of M acceptance letter. My world was instantly changed.

If there is actual video evidence, it's a slam dunk. If the video doesn't exist, the case will be almost impossible to win.

The conference championship games are fucking bullshit to begin with. I like the way the Big12 is doing it.
If PSU makes it into the top 4 there is no justice in this world. It should go as follows:
I cannot fathom the comittee putting PSU ahead of us with that curb stomping they took in Ann Arbor.

The offense wasn't clicking. The play calling was way too cute for 2 quarters. Speight picked a hell of a day to have his worst game (and appears to be injured now). Every deep ball was over or underthrown. The deep bombs were all 2-3 yards long.
The defense was gashed repeatedly on the ground and Don Brown got RPS'd at the worst possible moments by a complete failure of an OC. Speaking of OCs, holy shit what was that from Jed Fisch?
Just disappointing all around. At every single level there was more than enough failures to go around. OC/DC/Head coach/players. At least it's a team loss.

They ARE ambassadors of the program, you and I agree on that. Which is why they shouldn't use that platform to forward PERSONAL opinions.
I guess I should have taken a knee on the pooldeck at Canham to protest the Iraq war in 92? Would I have my Michigan Man street cred then? Do I represent the views of the school or its alumni? Of course not. I represent myself and MY beliefs. I have basically forfiet my goodwill by projecting personal views into my role as an ambassdor for the school. It has no place in athletics.
|12 weeks 7 hours ago||Huh?||
This has nothing to with whether they're protesting violently or not. A lot of those emails are unfortunate but the last one was spot on.
The issue is this:
While those indiividuals certainly have the right to express themselves, they do not explicity have the right to put on that uniform and then protest in a way that does not represent the university or it's opinion, of which there shouldn't be one. In other words, your (or their in this case) opinion does not represent the opinion of the university or its alumni and therefore has no place in that setting.
If they want to protest they can join any number of activist groups on campus, *out of uniform* and express their right to protest any social injustices. It also is a disservice to the kids that are protesting because they may feel this is ok to do in private or public sector jobs. The vast majority of employers, were they to pull a stunt like this on their future job, would get fired immediately. Does YOUR opinion represent the opinion of your company at large in regards to social issues? More than likely no and even if it did, they may not want YOU using your position in such a way to represent the views of the company.
|12 weeks 1 day ago||Yup||
Completely agree. Whatever MSU can muster in pride, effort, and focus will be expended this Saturday to beat Michigan.
Dantonio is the master of #disrespect. I expect his kids will be highly, *highly* motivated to win this game.
|13 weeks 1 day ago||I Like||
I like everyone's optimism. That said, I can't shake that I think the game will be much closer than everyone expects. This will be their bowl game whether they actually qualify for one or not and Dantonio always has his kids hyper amped for this game.
I'm not even exaggerating when I say I think Dantonio would go vanilla against Maryland and risk the loss to use the two weeks to prepare for the Michigan game. They have nothing else to play for at this point. It's Michigan or nothing. I watched their D mail it in against BYU and Northwestern....that will absolutely not happen against us.
I'm also genuinely concerned about injuries. With all the emperical evidence we've seen in the Dantonio regime over the years, I would not put it past them to try and injure a few UM players with cheap shots like we used to see against Robinson.
I just want a win, spread doesn't matter, and get the fuck out of there without injuries.

Used to watch all major sports, watch anything and everything on TV, reguarly attend games as well. That was twenty years ago.
The only thing I care to watch at all now is Michigan football and basketball. I have little to no interest in pro sports other than cursory interest in how x-wolverines are doing.
I use my TV for 13 Saturdays a year and about a third of the basketball games and I try to make it a point to attend one football game a year. Looking forward to my trip next year to Camp Randall in ....November.
|14 weeks 1 day ago||Friend Evolution||
Same here. Wedding this weekend. My friends have learned not to schedule important things they'd like me to attend on Saturdays in the fall unless it's during the bye week.
I'm not joking when my buddy called me back in April and asked when Michigan's bye week is.

Oct 15th 2011 Rutgers vs Navy
Rutgers blocks a last second field goal to beat Navy. How did Rutgers fans decide to celebrate?
As the Navy kids headed into the tunnel, they were pummelled by....spit. And not just a few Rutgers fans, almost any fan that was in range of the tunnel was spitting on the Navy players. There's video of it somewhere I'm too lazy to look up.
From that moment forward, I hated Rutgers. I'm sure they have some nice fans and alumni but that moment was just burned into my brain. Fuck them, fuck their school. If Harbaugh opted to drop 100 on them I'd be totally ok with that.
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Indiana||
Indiana's kicker also missed 3 FGs including a chip shot, and his game winner was also partially blocked. #CHAOSTEAM
|15 weeks 3 days ago||Offense||
The Offense was fine. The kicking was atrocious. Left 9 points on the field in what reliably should have been a 23-7 victory.
I don't understand how Kenny came off the rails, he was SO good at one point.

Just lost to San Diego State 45-40. Heck of a game though. Cal's QB threw the ball seventy one times....that is just....yeesh.

I completely forgot about that. So in summary, fuck that guy. I hope he gets suspended.

I'm trying to give that LSU lineman the benefit of the doubt. Like maybe he didn't think the play was over. But he went reeeaallll high on that guy so fuck that. Absolutely deserved that ejection.

The only way to make a troll go away is to destroy them or so completely shatter their barriers of anonymity, that they fear even returning to the online world. This only ends one of two ways. You are ruined or they are, the fact that they're attacking your wife and her livelyhood means all bets are off at this point. The moral and ethical barriers of online pranks have been crossed and you have to assume they can or could do anything to harm you. You need to do whatever it takes to stop them or it will never stop and you'll simply empower them to do it whenever they get an itch.
Calling the police is almost useless outside of filing a single report to put it on record. They don't have the resources to deal with something like this and the FBI won't tackle it because its not big enough. You're best bet is to lawyer up, and start sending subpoenas to the online platforms where the harassment is happening. After a long and probably terrible process you'll be able to get the real names and addreses of the people involved. That typically only happens once you've sued whatever ISP is hosting the trolls, assuming they aren't using a string of proxies. Do the following:
Turn the other cheek is nice in theory and terrible in practice when it comes to trolls. Good Luck.

Can we please stop referring to it as anti-LGBT (which it is not). It does not discriminate against gays, lesbians, or bisexual folks in any way. The law targets transgender specifically.
|25 weeks 6 days ago||Speaking of dynamics||
I'm pretty sure the best advice I ever received in pre-cana was from a couple that had been married 65 years (TLDR warning).
Always make your spouse your primary focus. Always. Extended family, kids, friends all come in second place to this person you've committed to. It shows when you don't whether you realize it or not.
Have a 'thing', and commit to doing/using that thing as a constant reminder of your love for each other. Their 'thing' was a tube of toothpaste that he always left on the counter which would drive her nuts (Put it away!). Finally one day she got so sick of him leaving it on the counter she stuck it in his sock drawer. The next morning when he went to grab socks for work, there it was, a tube of toothpaste sitting on top of his socks. He laughed and took the tube out of the drawer. Several months later she was in her car and went to reach for something in her glove compartment and what was in there? The toothpaste. She laughed and smiled. For sixty five years they been hiding that tube in each other's items for the other to find. What was once something that caused consternation became, in the oddest of ways, a symbol of their friendship and love for each other. They also mentioned that you can't manufacture a tradition, it's usually something that just happens. For us, it is meeting for lunch once a week, no matter what. The rules of conversation are we do not discuss work, kids, or family during that hour. It's time for us and to talk about us. I've been doing it for twenty years and we've missed lunch twice. It is easily my favorite part of every week.
Date your spouse. Set aside the kids, plans, whatever. Have time to do an activity for just the two of you, it could be something as simple as going to dinner or catching a play, whatever. Make it a priority. I'm still amazed at what I discover about my wife by just spending dedicated time with her.
Last one. Never judge or comepare yourselves to anyone else's marriage. Never judge because you have absolutely no idea what is going on behind closed doors even if you think they tell you "everything". Never compare because it doesn't improve anything. Feeling that you're doing better or worse than some other couple misses the point of being together entirely.

San Diego is a comically bad sports town unless you're supporting the Mexican mens soccer team or the Denver Broncos/Steelers/Raiders. People who move here keep their previous residence loyalties because there's absolutely no reason to root for the locals.
It's just bad. Any game is typically somewhere between 40-70% the opposing teams fans. Mexico and the Raiders essentially play home games at Qualcomm. As other have said, nobody gives a shit. Which is mostly the fault of the owners of the franchises who do nothing to engender support except from delusional crackpots who gladly hand over their money (and votes) to watch steaming turd teams play.
Heck the best team in town is probably the AHL hockey team San Diego Gulls. Which may average about 9,000 fans a game. Actually that's probably better than the Padres if you take out opposing teams fans buying tickets.
So yeah....San Diego...bad.
