MSU football news: I'm not entirely sure what this means but it sounds bad

I guess this is why you don't let message boards run your athletic department

Man, that is some bad writing for a supposedly-professional writer.  For example,"[s]he says players started receiving emails about their deals while on the flight to Iowa, sources tell Dahlgren."  Uhm, "she" is Dahlgren.  "Sources" do not need to tell her what she herself says.

so if you're a kid playing for sparty and the financial rug suddenly gets pulled out from underneath you, are you even suiting up tomorrow?

i know we'll all be heartbroken if a bunch of starters decide to keep their redshirt and sit.  probably won't happen, but i would not be losing sleep about sparty sinking further.  after the tunnel incident they went from rival to 'hope that ship sinks to the bottom of davey jones' locker'

Exactly, fuck them. John Jansen even made the point last year after the tunnel that this rivalry was never like this even 20 years ago. It was more back and forth ribbing sibling type rivalry back then. You got way too many fans and people at the school with the mentality of this guy that everything bad that happens to them is somehow Michigan's fault, and it's made everything real ugly.

that's somebody that needs some serious therapy.  and medication.

i think what happens is that there is a tendency for some people to put all their anger and angst and disappointment in one metaphorical 'gun', and point it at a single thing that they can punch or lash out at over and over.  i think it happens in sports and politics most commonly and it reflects a complete abandonment of rational thought or grace or most any other good human character trait.

Discharges to home are done that way too, if the patient's condition requires it. When we stopped being able to transfer my father into the family car I wasn't sure how we'd get him home. Discharge from an SNF, we were expected to arrange wheelchair transportation through our insurance company's program. Discharge from the hospital, they sent him home in a bed.

This is going to have repercussions outside MSU football. It may reveal a real hole--an untenable component of the structure that NIL is moving to. If your players 'work' for the university but get paid by some shaky, ungoverned entities outside it. . . and they pull out the rug. . . You could have  teams going belly-up--suffering serious chaos--mid-season. What happens if MSU can't field a team for several games? Games forfeited? If this is happening simultaneously at several schools during a deep recession?

That's fine--in America everyone should have a lawyer assigned at birth!. But now tens of thousands of such deals are being struck across an unregulated landscape where college students are potentially embroiled in disputes, walking away from deals and schools because coaches lured them with connections to donors. . . ? Messy AF.

Meanwhile, the entity that brought them there and continues to profit from them still hasn't been required to pony up. The whole thing continues to be a diversion from that simple fact.

Players need to get paid, as Jim says. Everything else should happen far from athletic departments, with students simply having to comply with certain rules and submit deals for legal review.
