Report it to the police, let them worry about it.

Drunk 19-year old Tweets from randos are not worthy of articles or threads when they clearly are not serious threats.  It's Twitter.

No mass shootings have happened as a result of the outcome of a SPORTS so I think that your comparison is a little apples and oranges (but, again, still worth flagging the police's attention to).

Ultimately, what these articles - and the ensuing reactions - do is improperly paint an entire fanbase in one brush because of what some drunk kid posts on social media.  We don't help by feeding the machine.

That's why I said report it to the police...

Again, my point is to not generalize fanbases because idiots post their every fleeting thought to Twitter.  Most articles and threads that discuss Tweets do so in the vain "MSU fans threaten...", "Michigan fans throw racist remarks...", etc.

Not saying the OP did that here, but that's the general tone of many of these things.  Also, let's not extrapolate too much.  Yes, we live in an age where people do scary things.  But not many.  Not many at all despite what cable news tries to fear us into believing.  So, report it to the police.  There's really nothing else for us to do. We can report something to the police while still recognizing that 99.9999999999999% of the time, it's just drunken bravado talking.  I'd say 100% but I think there was that awful incident at Dodger Stadium in which a Giants fan assaulted a Dodger fan, resulting in his death, 5 or so years ago.

everywhere. As much as I hate Sparty, this could be John Doe from any college. The good news is that he can be prosecuted for a threat. What a douchebag.

Down here there seem to be 3 kinds of Wolverine Fans. 1) Former alums, children of alums, folks with some kind of tie to the school. 2) Folks that choose to be different for the sake of being different. They don't like Ohio State because most everyone around them does. They were more prevelant in the 90s because they picked Michigan because it was the rival and it was winning. They are rarer these days or they focus time more on the insitutional superiority of Michigan because the on field and to a lesser extent on court results have been lacking. Or they will cling to the success of non-revenue sports. 3) Folks that choose to be different for the sake of being different. Isn't this the same as 2, you ask? Sort of, but no. These are the folks that rebel to rebel and are as likely to also have confederate flags and might have finished High School or picked up their GED, but I kind of doubt it. I'm not sure it is fair to call them fans. They wear Michigan gear, but I'm not sure if they bought it or they got it from folks from category 2 who donated it to charity after the last decade.

But just by population of fan bases I assume we have more shit head fans.  Our shit head fans could fill up their stadium better than their shit heads can, assuming that all MSU fans usually in the stadium are infact shit heads.
