The Monday Night NCAA Football Open Thread
You were likely aware, but there is college football tonight - Pitt makes its ACC debut against Florida State. So, those football addicts who are watching the game can make their observations here. It's the final game of the opening weekend, folks, so make the most of it.

Or, you know, you could read the Hoke presser on the front page.

I have UNDER 48. Sloppy field, questionable QBs, good defenses. Bet the house folks.

Well I'm screwed.

For what it is worth, Massey gives Florida State a 76% shot at this game (based on past data, of course), predicting a score over many simulations of 27-17.
I have to admire Paul Chryst's honesty there - "I have no idea who we are", regarding team identity, if that summation is to be believed.

they just said he's 6'5'' and almost 240 lbs with great speed.

He's from Pahokee. Benjamin was one of the main players followed in Muck City.

He's the kid who transferred from Rutgers, yes?
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:20 PM ^
His Rivals.com rating was #131

Was he injured in 2011 or healthy and just never saw the field for Rutgers?

Tom Savage is doing quite well so far for someone who hasn't seen action in a while - 3/4 for 51 yards passing counts among the 80 yards on that drive. Not a bad way to start your season.

Isn't Vinopal a starting safety for Pitt?
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:26 PM ^
Edit: Quick look at their depth chart says yes.
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:23 PM ^
I suppose I'm rooting for Pitt but I'm not sure why.

I'm rooting for Pitt because their quarterback is closer to my age than anyone in college football will ever be for the rest of time. That's a legitimate reason, right?
Edit: Other than Chris Weinke's imaginary son, Chris Weinke Jr.

just blamed Paul Pfeiffer for that interception.

September 2nd, 2013 at 8:41 PM ^
That INT was an awful play call by Pitt.
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:48 PM ^
So, it feels like Jameis Winston should have been tackled for a slight loss on that scramble/ensuing rush, but Pitt looked a little unsure of where exactly that play was going.
Florida State only has 25 yards of rushing at this point, but then Pitt's pass defense hasn't given them much to be concerned about when it comes to throwing into traffic.

I went to the yahoo sports page to check the score of this game and I really hate the new layout. On the previous format, you could click on any team and see all the scores for that team's conference. Now if you want to check the score of matchup between unranked teams, you have to click through pages and pages of nonsense.
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:53 PM ^
Oh god, don't get me started! The Yahoo Sports redesign is a HCI nightmare!
September 2nd, 2013 at 8:54 PM ^
The new layout stinks.
September 2nd, 2013 at 9:30 PM ^
Their new design is complete garbage and they have been getting lambasted about it. Who the hell thought a fuzzy, out-of-focus picture of a football field/baseball diamond was a good idea for a background image?
I cannot believe that someone got paid for that mess of hot vomit.

Winston is on pace to never throw an incomplete pass in his college career. Anything less will be a disappointment.
