Good game from the bench, especially Doyle. But, eh, the offense seems just brutally ineffecient to what I'm used to from Beilein. At least the D seems to have taken a step forward from last year. Caris really needs to snap out of his putting the ball in the basket slump. Could be a really really good team if the offensive effeciency steps up.
November 24th, 2014 at 11:49 PM ^
I also recall inefficient offenses and growing pains in past Brooklyn tournaments. This isn't unsusual.

True, true. Perhaps its some selection bias on my part because I didn't have a chance to actually watch a lot of last year's non-conference. But last year, I kind of felt like "Ok, this is working, but they just need to, you know, make their wide open baskets the offense generated for them". This year it just feels a lot more disorganized, like they don't know how to run the offense as well. Maybe I'm just way off base here. Offense took another hit in KenPom it looks like after this game as well.

largely due to their FG% and FTs. Michigan defense were pretty solid for the most part. If they can prevent Oregon from getting 50% of their rebounds, it wouldn't be close IMO

that's the most foul shots i've seen our team take in a while. driving and drawing fouls makes for somewhat ugly basketball but very effective.
our defense looks solid, we just got unlucky at times and let paul take over at the end.

Bottom line, I think we'll be just fine.

Doyle looked like a real big man out there. Yay!

that has playmakers, is well coached, makes clutch plays, and wins games.

Stagnant O tonight but pulled it out.
Doyle looks effective, drew lots of charges too. Good stuff.

from the crowd. Its Great, to be, a Michigan Wolverine.

Really fun game to watch. This team has a long way to go, and they'll improve, but I'll take the win. Loved the effort I saw out of Doyle. Can't wait to see more of him this season.

Woot Woot. Really a nice early season W against a young, scrappy team. No that Oregon team isn't that good (I don't think, maybe they make some noise out West, we'll see) but that was a helpful victory.

Glad they got some experience fighting for a victory there.

Good early test for this team. They responded well.

Ricky Doyle played like a man tonight. Without him, we probably lose that game. Looking forward to seeing him develop further under Beilein's tutelage.
