Phil is hard on the eyes.
He started doing his thing in 1995 and probably designed the layout around that time. And hasn't changed it since. You can see that everything is very early web design and the previews are basically print magazine format like you'd find in an old newstand copy of Lindy's or Athlon. As my 10 yo would put it, he needs to get into this century.
Looks like he went to the MGoBlog school of User Interface design.
There's a certain retro-coolness to it though, like the content is so good it does not have to have an appealing interface.

As a 45 year old, I loved that movie! And that was one of my favorite parts. Guns and Roses starts and the bots form a mouth and start chewing the bad guy. Classic. Came out same year as Despicable me which was also great!
My brain hurts after trying to read that preview. The only thing formatted worse than the preview, is the front page of that site.

The word on the street is that once Phil Steele finally gets a quote he likes from the folks at Xoom for hosting the site, he'll migrate it and revamp it and then it should really look like he wants finally. They have to move to HTML 3.2 first so Netscape users can properly view the site though.

records and results from the past 10 years was even more painful on the eyes than his layout. Judas Priest that is ugly.
Steele downgrades Michigan on all position rankings , all is the key word, as compared to other publications. He obviously shows a scarlet and grey bias. I came away shaking my head and gritting my teeth after reading his analysis.

While some of the analysis can be hit or miss, you can't say that Steele doesn't pack the stats and info into a small space. That is a lot of data for two pages.
Yes, his work has a vitue that has been meaningless for 10 years. He's not really saving trons by condensing his stuff into the smallest spece possible, he's just unnecessarily making it hard to comprehend.

I think he is intentionally removing the link to the page. I think the error here is that he never takes down the actual page. I don't think he has ever heard of Google.
