Reschke is a legacy to State. This is more likely to lead to a twitter of him burning his offer letter than another commit.

On another note.....with Fitz hurt, perhaps seriously and our roster loaded with RB's who are either too small or too big and slow on the RB depth chart, and Derrick Green giving no real tell as to what he's thinking....at what point does our coaching staff maybe chase another 4/5 star, possibly from a team losing a coach.

Is anyone really comfortable with our RB situation if Fitz can't go in the fall.

Makes me wonder if the rumors about a certain player in Ohio are true. Reschke might be a tough pull though he has been a spartan commit for a while. I guess we will see how much pull Shane has with one of his best friends.

For what it' worth, and I know it may be little. Mike McCray was in the MDen on State Street, up by Ben and Jerry's and everything there right after the game. I asked him about coming to Michigan and he said he was excited to get up to Ann Arbor. Take it with a grain of salt, but I just thought I'd share.

McCray has reaffirmed his commitment; the rumors about him and OSU are not true. This could be Reschke reaching out to the staff or an issue one of the current linebackers on the team

In other news, I recently offered Scarlett Johansson the opportunity to date me.  Probably gonna turn out the same way for me that offering Reschke will for UM.  We'd have as much luck offering one of the Bullough family tree.

As a dumb guy, I'll take a shot.

First and foremost, there's very little cost to saying, "Hey, if you want to come, we'd love to have you."  It's not like that takes a lot of time or resources.

As far as positive reasons to do it, maybe...

  • they just saw his 2013 film and thought he looked great.
  • they got some indication that he's more interested than they thought.  That could have come from Shane, from Reschke himself, or anyone/anything else.
  • they just want MSU to have to do some defensive recruiting (of their own kids).
  • they've reevaluated the current roster and think a free spot should be used at LB.
  • a current player isn't likely to stick around for the long run.
  • they're protecting themselves against the possibility of an LB decommit.
  • they want to make friends at Brother Rice.
  • they want to piss off Dantonio & co.

Bottom line:  We have no idea why, but it's a low-cost move that could be justfied by a lot of different beliefs or scenarios.

His usage was correct.  "Than" is a conjunction, separating two clauses or sentences.  In this case, the sentence is assumed to be this:  "I am asking someone smarter than I (am).  "I" is the subject of the second clause.  "Myself" is actually frequently overused by people who feel like they're making a mistake using "me" or "I.  While it is often true that when you yourself are the object of the verb, it should be "myself," this is not always true.  Sometimes, "me" is the right choice.

Unless one of us are on the staff, we won't be able to give anything but a guess.  My guess is that one of the back-up linebackers is leaving.  Since Ross and Bolden are playing on D already, maybe it's RJS or Ringer.  Poole would be another guess.  Pure speculation

Have no info and will not state anything as even being slightly mattering in Ringer's status or mind but I will say he often doesn't speak too highly of Ann Arbor in general. Nothing team related! Just things that could be homesickness or truly preferring a place more like his hometown. Other things such as just strangers in AA, the bus system and such being "a joke" (his words). AGAIN, by NO MEANS does this mean anything in my head or speculation. I've just had many show me tweets and tell me personal stories stating such. Add potential lack of playing time and you never know. My wonder and question is whether this has any indication on Lewan. Clearly a late 1st-early 2nd rounder at worst (even if his stock plummets) and maybe the staff knows he is leaving already? Or any other player for that matter. IMO, it is a toss offer to the best friend of our staunchest and possibly best recruit/er who happens to also be a very good player committed to our 2nd biggest rival. A no lose, really.
