20 weeks 4 days ago Congrats Texas A & M on getting their 33rd recruit

They have now have fully joined the SEC

22 weeks 6 days ago He was afraid of being drafted by the Lions

Lewan: Where I am projected to go?

Agent: Somewhere around pick 5.  You should make millions.

Lewan:Who picks 5 and what do they need?

Agent: The Lions and um well everything. Look at it as chance to replace another Michigan guy who is going to retire.  You get to stay local and be part of the next Lions rebuilding project.

Lewan: Go Blue!

23 weeks 5 days ago Sparty turnover = New gig for Dantonio?

Are they Spartrats abandoning the ship because their captain is interviewing for other jobs where it will be easier to recruit and win?  No one can accuse Dantonio of being dumb and it does not help  that the greatest coach in Spartan history is playing for yet another national championship down in Alabama.

27 weeks 3 days ago Not a perfect science

Many scholarship misses and many walk on studs

30 weeks 2 days ago Nice offer

I have done business with his dad.  Very good guy.

40 weeks 2 days ago Going with dominant

Us economics majors never did much paper writing but my vote is for the word dominant.

46 weeks 4 days ago Feeling that WR is going to be full time

OK QB vs potentially dominating WR.  Hmmm.  If he was the next great thing at QB he would have won the starting job.

46 weeks 5 days ago Only way to get your price is to create a scarcity

Simple.  If you want someone to commit, they can't believe that the spot will be open forever.  Fortunately you get most of what you want with this strategy.  Unfortunately you will always lose out on one.  I am happy getting 95% of what we want.  Now if we were Alabama, we would be doing the Alabama Shuffle and telling all the 3 star players how tough playing time is going to be for them.

47 weeks 1 day ago I think serious

Um this is serious stuff if true.

Home Invasion in the Second Degree - MCL 750.110a (3)

Second degree Home Invasion is another Michigan felony and it is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $3,000, or both. Michigan Home Invasion in the second degree is similar to Michigan Home Invasion in the first degree, with the difference being that the third element (involvement of a dangerous weapon or someone lawfully inside the dwelling) need not be met. Therefore, a defendant can be found guilty of Second Degree Home Invasion in Michigan the prosecution can prove the following two elements:

(1) The defendant must either break and enter a dwelling –or– the defendant must enter a dwelling without permission.
(2) The defendant must have formed the intent to commit a larceny, felony, or assault by the time he entered the dwelling –or– the defendant must have actually committed one of those crimes while entering, present in, or exiting the dwelling.

If just one of these elements cannot be proven by the prosecutor, the defendant cannot be found guilty of Home Invasion in the second degree.

47 weeks 1 day ago or Kim Kardashian type women

Those are important lessons.

51 weeks 6 days ago Excellent Strategy

If you want the best kids coming to your camps, you have to have a "scholarship" prize or two for the winners.  This assures you of seeing all of the late bloomers.

You get to assess a kids work habits, ability to compete, character etc.  I think it is brilliant.  Go Stribling!

1 year 1 week ago my reasons

1) He is going to touch the ball 6-10 times per game; 2) He will grow and probably be a backup center as well; 3) We are telling the Big Ten and the country that we are kicking your butts so hard in recruiting that we now have the luxury of taking a long snapper.

1 year 2 weeks ago Bias towards players currently not committed

I think the recruiting services like the sexiness of recruits still in play and rank them higher to draw fans into their sites to see the race to get these top ranked in play recruits.

1 year 3 weeks ago What is the draw?

I love Michigan and I love baseball.  Biggest thing when I was a student was that they never promoted the baseball program to the students and today, they really don't promote the game to the baseball fans in SE Michigan  (I don't know if they promote it to the students today.).  Many of my friends will go down to Toledo to watch a AAA game but not to Ann Arbor to watch  baseball.  I am not a sports marketing guy but i think they need to have a bigger plan than just a new manager if you are going to create a baseball powerhouse in the midwest.

1 year 4 weeks ago Gets 2 more years

I GM 2 travel baseball teams while coaching one of them.  My younger team of 12 kids has had 4 broken bones including my starting SS and we are 1 game over .500.  My older team played in a tournament and the day before it started I received a call from a parent stating that his child has suffered a concussion playing hockey and could not play.

When you lose your starters it is tough to compete.  Should we fire ourselves for injuires?  Now if it because of poor recruiting classes and poor managing then that is a different story.

I think they will be fine for a midwest program.  Bigger reality is talented baseball players don't want to play in the Midwest because the season starts in February.

1 year 9 weeks ago Athletes overplaying hand

Had he said yes prior to Spikes commitment and Trey's return he would have been able to go to Michigan.  No he wanted to be recruited and missed out.

1 year 10 weeks ago Friends don't let friends hire Thomas

And just say no.

Which cliche rejection works best?

1 year 14 weeks ago Great family and I believe 4.0 student

She will make a great Wolverine.

1 year 18 weeks ago We need scouting reports on future centers

I feel for the Kozan kid.  Deciding on a college should not be this hard.

A) You want to  be in the South

B) You want to be in a corn field

C) You want to play in front of 112,000 fans.

1 year 18 weeks ago Where there is smoke

My experience is either you love Michigan and what they stand for or you don't.

Diamond was certainly looking for MORE than Michigan could offer.

1 year 19 weeks ago Walk On Program

I think one major difference between Hoke and RR is that Hoke seems to be getting really solid walk on players.

1 year 19 weeks ago Gibbs

Smart move for a kid destined to attend Michigan.  Better to shell out some cash for Michigan than go to school at EMU for free.

1 year 19 weeks ago Not acceptable - we need our commits to agonize over the decisio

You just wonder how he was able to decide so fast when other commits kill themselves for the next year.  Now he can focus on working out and doing well his senior year.

1 year 19 weeks ago Treat Kozan like a lost bank account

You opened the account 10 years ago and forgot about it.  The account has  a couple grand in it.  Nothing that would change your life.  One day you open your mail and there it is.  You are happy and you take your wife to Chicago for a weekend.  However, If you tossed your mail thinking it was junk, no big deal - life goes on.

1 year 19 weeks ago Crazy amount of 3*' still available

I don't see the upside of banking more than 1 scholarship.  I think in addition to Kozan (thinking in a positive manner) we still go after one of the uncommitted 3*'s.

1 year 19 weeks ago It takes a special person to be a "Michigan Man"

Way more than it takes to be a Razorback, Tiger, Sparty or Buckeye.

You either have it or you don't.    It takes integrity, commitment and pride in how you behave in public. It takes strength to say no to money, perks, tats, cars etc.

You need to persevere in order to study after you have practiced for ten hours.

The same can't be said of most D1 Football programs.

Good luck to the young man but he is going to miss an opportunity of a lifetime.

1 year 19 weeks ago My wife left the house at 6:30 so she missed it.

I laughed at this comment.

I think we are doing fine.  The freak out should be how poorly the Big Ten in general is doing.
