Michigan Fan Psych Profile Questions - Pt 2

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on July 15th, 2022 at 6:19 AM

Mates,

We press on with our data gathering of Michigan fans and their psychological profiles.  This, despite the disturbing fact that many of you chose 'creamy' for your peanut butter of choice earlier this week - could explain a lot about our dysfunctional fan base.  Nevertheless, these questions are being compiled for research and your answers are important.  Here goes:

1.  Dogs or cats?

2.  Cars or trucks?

3.   Tattoos or no tattoos?

4.   Board games, card games, or video games?

5.   You are pinned down on a mountain top, you and your wolverine army.   Running low on supplies you need to make a break for it.  You have Attila the Hun and his army on one side, Sparty and their army on another, and Buckeyes down the only other way out.  How do you solve this problem and get to freedom?

Happy Friday.  Its summer time, get outside and enjoy it.  Go to a beach, go for a ride, enjoy the warmth before the cool of fall and football.

1. Nah. Just one more thing to have to deal with when traveling or even when leaving for a full day.

2. Cars. Low CG FTW.

3. No tats for me. Nothing against other folks having them, just not for me.

4. Board games and card games with the kids. Sitting face to face wins over staring at a screen.

5. Since the mountain top is likely cold and snowy, I assume the Buckeyes have flu-like symptoms. We charge straight at them and hurdle those fools on the way down, assuming they don't just step out of our way.

Anything for science, XM.

1. Dogs, but I shave pictures of cats into their fur

2. Monster trucks

3. Temporary Tattoos

4. Practice. I’m not ready for the game yet

5. Easy, assemble my greatest warriors and equip them each with the secret weapon that exploits the weakness of each army. For Atilla, a nosebleed. For OSU, Hassan MF Haskins. For Sparty, Mel Tucker’s buyout.

1) Cats. Never liked dogs. I’d prefer neither but you have to compromise with the wifey somewhere
2) Cars
3) I will never get a tattoo
4) Video games
5) I find Haskins, give him a pep talk, and point him directly at OSU and tell him to feast. No way are they stopping him.

Well that sucks, sorry to hear that.  My son was attacked by the neighbors pack last month and still has the scars.  But we also have a house full of them, so scared as he was he's bounced back pretty well.  But he's leery about other people's dogs now.

So I can understand about not trusting them...

I wasn't "attacked" by one but I did get a minor bite from one as a child so I am sure to some degree that has affected me.  Otherwise, I grew up where no one in my family had dogs for any extended period of time that I can recall and my mom hated dogs so there was never any affinity for them.  To me they're too much work and every home I enter of a dog person always has an odor to me that is not pleasant on the nose.  They're just not my thing.

I hear ya, BG. I still remember the neighbor's Saint Bernard and trampled me multiple times before my 3rd birthday and the other neighbor's Cocker Spaniel that broke skin on my leg multiple times in elementary school.

I hear all the time, "Oh, you just need to be around the right dogs and you'll love them!" Well, my amygdala is not buying what your frontal lobe is selling.

1.  Dogs or cats? Dogs

2.  Cars or trucks? Cars

3.   Tattoos or no tattoos? No tattoos

4.   Board games, card games, or video games? Card games

5. …How do you solve this problem and get to freedom?  Engage ground game and go directly at Buckeyes! You’ll punch through that ole defense in 42m27s!

1) Always had a dog. Never had a cat.

2) Current vehicle is a Ford F-250.

3) No tattoos here. Although I loved Tattoo on Fantasy Island.

4) Card games. I love a good Saturday night euchre game with friends.

5) I ride on the shoulders of Tacopants to victory.

1.  Dogs or cats?

It's hard to say. In the past it would be easily cat (singular), but my wife convinced me to expand. I spend more time and attention on the dog, but it's because he's a soft boy and he needs it.

2.  Cars or trucks?

Cars. I don't care much about them beyond getting me places.

3.   Tattoos or no tattoos?

Tattoos. I have one of my cat's paw print and my wife has like 8.

4.   Board games, card games, or video games?

Board games (specifically tabletop RPGs if that counts)

5.   You are pinned down on a mountain top, you and your wolverine army.   Running low on supplies you need to make a break for it.  You have Attila the Hun and his army on one side, Sparty and their army on another, and Buckeyes down the only other way out.  How do you solve this problem and get to freedom?

Break out the booze and head in the Sparty direction. I've navigated their territory with this method and am going with the enemy I know.

1) Dogs.  All day, every day.

2) Prefer trucks (F-series), but want a car for my work commute - ~50 miles one way translates to ~$18/day in gas in a truck these days...

3) None.  Even when I was a drunk sailor covorting dives with other drunk sailors, I shunned the tatoo parlors.  No way in hell I'm getting one now!

4) Board and card games.  The whole video game fad passed me by effortlessly.

5) This is a false reality - Attila the Hun is no match for a Wolverine, Tucker is too busy counting his money to realize his 'army' fled after last season, and the Buckeye's can't fight on a mountain - its too cold up there for them.  Easy win...

1. I'm assuming we're ignoring utilitarian concerns here. (XM, you must have at least one cat on the farm.) If so, my answer is: Both. I think they complement each other well. It gets tricky when a third pet is added. If it's a cat, all hell may break loose: https://www.theonion.com/kitchen-floor-conflict-intensifies-as-rival-house-cats-1819569628

2. Similar to #1, if we're talking everyday transportation here I'll go with a car.

3. I don't have any ink. Nothing against it .....

4. I like all three and would suggest a mix for everyone.

5. Information is sparse here. Let's say Attila's army is armed and trained well. I'd probably avoid them. As the others, what could I expect to see? Barricades of flaming couches for Sparty? OSU is better than MSU in every measure so I'd probably take my chances charging the couches.

great onion article. was not a cat fan in earlier life but our barn cats have changed my attitude.  they have given decades of good service, our present barn cat is hell on wheels re: rodents but will come to me when i call him.  he's getting a little old now, but i dig that cat, as does our bird dog. they are buddies.

Dogs

Trucks

Tats, as long as they mean something and aren't just graffitti

Euchre anyone?

If you have high ground and a well trained force, you can defend it.  prior to running low on supplies you should have sent for reinforcements and resupply.  A competent tactical commander would be preparing for the flank assault about to be put on by the approaching forces.

Euchre?

I'm in!

----------

1) Dogs all day and twice on Sundays.  Over the years, I've gotten more tolerant of cats but not to the point that I would ever again want to own one, now that I'm an empty-nester.

2) Neither.  An SUV is my vehicle of choice these days.

3) No tats.

4) Euchre (though I do enjoy board games too occasionally)

5) Send a Trojan Cooler first in the direction of the scarlet army.  That shit works every time!

Sam1863

1. A cat with a dog personality.

2. Cars.

3. No tats - although at my age, if I got one, it would be my blood type and emergency contact info just to save the paramedic's time.

4. Board games with people who drink heavily and don't care who wins.

5. Remember the words of legendary Marine Lewis "Chesty" Puller. When told that he and his troops were surrounded, Puller replied: "Those poor bastards. They’ve got us right where we want ’em. We can shoot in every direction now.”

1. Dogs

2. Depends on the need, car for normal travel, truck for hauling

3. no tats

4. Board games

5. Head straight toward Sparty, let them get excited, let them get a little lead then you just come back and take the victory

BluestralWeeks

1. Dogs, but only dogs bigger than a Jack Russell. Anything smaller is unacceptable. That’s the cutoff.

2. Trucks. Having to rent a truck to haul 12’ boards is really getting my goat.

3. No tattoos. Absolutely not.

4. Trick answer, tabletop D&D.

5. Convince Attila to read RCMB, and hope he finds it so cringe-inducing to merit destruction. Show Attila doctored photos of Ryan Day dining and cavorting with Flavius Aetius. Keep my wolverines out of the fray and release to the wilds after the battle.

We have two cats.  I like my dogs like I like my babies (will be an empty-nester this fall) - I really enjoy them but prefer them in small doses and being able to return them to their parents for them to do all of the work and deal with the hassles.

Cars.  Currently driving a GTI Autobahn.  Favorite of the 10 or so cars I've owned.

No tattoos.  This will come across as judgey (judgy?), but I don't understand the point of tattoos.

Card games - solitaire, poker.

Go toward Sparty.  Easy to outsmart and outwit.  Distract them with math problems or grammar questions.

XM, much like there seemed to be a correlation between people preferring creamy and picking Ginger, there seems to be a correlation between cats and cars and dogs and trucks.

I hope you're slicing and dicing all of the data for us!

I was curious, so I took ten minutes to review all of the entries and, as of 4:14 EST, here are the stats...

Dog/Car - 13x

Dog/Truck - 10x

Cat/Car - 8x

Cat/Truck - 1x

Looks like dog people are evenly split across cars and trucks.  But, definitely looks like we cat people overwhelmingly prefer cars.

There were quite a few answers of "both" or that were a bit difficult to discern...so those were not included in this scientific data analysis.

Easy, you form a "gentlemen's" alliance with the Huns. Once you combine forces you leave the  other two with zero T.V. rights negotiating power.  Then when the Huns call you sometime next year you say, "new number, who this?" and hang up.

1. Dogs. They are man's best friend for a reason

2. Cars because there is no Nürburgring for trucks

3. No tatts.

4. Card games

5. Focus on the buckeyes because those nuts can be cracked.

1.  Dogs

2.  Cars

3.  I have none, and have grown less attracted to women who have them, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

4.  Yes

5.  Try to put Sparta and Buckeye against each other by reminding Buckeye that they don’t give a damn about the whole state, so they have an enemy that does not have the high ground on their flank.  Once that skirmish breaks out, try to slip by while they are distracted with each other.

Slim Whitman

July 15th, 2022 at 8:26 AM ^

1. Yes, but not at the same time.
2. Yes, electric though because I would like a second vehicle and already have a gas V8.
3. Yes, as long as whoever the tattoo(s)  (if any) is(are) attached to doesn't try to kill me in my sleep and makes decent coffee.
4. Video, because cards is only euchre (I hate poker) and board games. I either win mercilessly (Trivial Pursuit) or lose hopelessly (Monopoly).
5. Attila and his army are all dead, so hop over their bones.

Otherwise, not that way - an actual army? No thanks. No hand weapons skills, and I look foolish in historic outfits. Huns would likely spot me quickly, and deal viscerally and harshly.

OTOH, I can speak spartoon or buck, and can at least pass for one for at least most of an episode (can deliver pizza, poop in coolers, can wear/drink AXE/Natty Light), long enough to get down the mountain.

1. a cat with one of them darn chipmunks in his mouth. 2 .suv w/enough crap in it to build an addition. 3. i let my scars tell my life story. 4. word games and puzzles. 5. i'd probably be working the event and telling THE buckeyes the rules concerning coolers and such and helping Sparty with spelling on signs.

Macenblu

July 15th, 2022 at 8:42 AM ^

1:  Cats

2:  Car

3: No tats

4: Card games

5: If you're low on supplies then your coolers must be empty.  Walk leisurely towards Ohio State.  Leave your coolers.  Watch them poop in them.  Carry on

1. Dogs.  2. Cars.  3. No Tattoos for me but I'm not opposed to the idea.  4. Video games but I'll play any of them.

5. Go right at the Buckeyes.  They are weak willed, especially in snow.  As I have the high ground and the tougher soldiers, I expect their lines to break and then I'll have the choice to run them down or make my escape.  Maybe both?  Both.

Optimism Attache

July 15th, 2022 at 9:22 AM ^

1. Both are great, just not living in my house

2. Minivans

3. Michigan tattoos on Spencer Hall

4. First person looter games

5. Handoff 42 times to Hassan Haskins roll over OSU. Did you say there was another army?

Beaublue

July 15th, 2022 at 9:32 AM ^

1.  Dogs  (actually neither but if I was forced to pick)

2.  Cars  (Like boats, and swimming pools the best truck is a friends truck)

3.  No.  (My question about tattoos has always been that if you know it's called a "tramp stamp" why would you get one?)

4.  Card

5.  Neither Sparty nor Bucky would know anything about Attila the Hun.  I would put the same message in two bottles stating that "Atilla the Hun is over there".   I would throw one bottle over to Sparty and the other to Bucky.   Sparty and Bucky also can't spell and would think Attila is a Honey and both would immediately storm Atilla leaving me my choice of exits.

1. dogs times 1000

2. trucks. i have driven ram trucks as my every day vehicle for ... 15 years or so? 4x4 in the snow, can see over all the cars, haul stuff.  I do love my car though, but it isn't an every day car.

3. tattoos. i've had tattoos since i was 15

4. card games.

5. I head straight to the buckeyes and give em the old 42-27. easy win, they give up 3/4 of the way through the fight because there's snow on the ground and they have the sniffles.
