MBB -- #8 seed for BTT
U-M is locked into the #8 seed in the Big Ten Tournament after Iowa beat PSU today. They will play Illinois at noon EST on Thursday (BTN). If they win that game, they play Purdue at noon EST on Friday (ESPN). Hurray noon games.
I'm happy we get to play Illinois given the other options were Indiana or Ohio State. I can't see Derrick Walton letting us lose to Illinois, and they just squandered any chance at the NCAA Tournament anyway. It does suck that the game(s) are at noon, though.
something to make the workday more interesting...
Especially considering their team this year is a total shit stain.
Well based on the results of the season, I'd 100% rather play Indiana or Ohio State than Illinois (especially for a revenge chance against the latter).
Illinois was the only team in the Big Ten that blew us out the entire season.
Welp, looks like I won't be getting any work done from noon until 2:00 on Thursday and (hopefully) Friday.
We've been in the 8v9 game in 7 of the last 12 years.
This is donkey farts.
I too love donkey farts
I'd rather have a 10 seed so we don't have to face a 1 in the second round, really.
Our warmup shirts we'll wear on the bench are white, too.......
Here they are on WBB
I'm fine with this. Just beat Nebraska and anything we do in BTT is gravy.
Just a turd time to be playing games
I just bought some tickets for the games on Wednesday and Thursday. I found some for the Michigan game at center court on the club level (Section 215) for $15 plus fees so less than $50 for a pair. There are still six seats left in the row if any Michigan fans are interested in sitting with us.
The Tickets for the play in games on Wednesday are general admission and I got those for $6 plus fees.
Thursday night i found tickets on the lower level in the corner for $11 plus fees.
The rest of the games are going for more and I think I am going to wait for now. Does anyone know when is the best time to get tickets for those. I thought it was better to wait for teams to get eliminated and for their fans to go home.
Friday night is the most expensive probably because that is where Maryland goes.
I tried to get tix 215 (row D?). Tix are listed on several sites, but when I follow through with the purchase they all say these tix no longer exist. Instead got tix in 102 near the UM bench.
Fortunately, we have a large TV in one of our conference areas, and that TV is pretty visible throughout the building, so we'll order some pizza and somehow turn it into a "working" meeting. I will find a way to do this, trust me.
I started a tradition of taking vacation days for Thursday and Friday on Big Ten Tourney and NCAA Tournament opening week a few years ago.
It's a much needed break after not having any time off since the Holidays and guarantees I don't miss Michigan basketball.
GO BLUE!!
Revenge works for me.
I am like most not a fan of this because noon games, but in the end, I don't care. Just win games.
And Beat Nebraska. They shuck.
So ---- tip-off will be a bit before "high noon" (when the sun is directly overhead in DC).
Don't put your spurs on until the 15:00 mark.
Live in DC and happy as hell the tournament is here. I think I'll lock down tix for Michigan game (added bonus: MSU is second game so I'll be sticking around as the anti-MSU fan).
Corner tix, 3rd row behind UM bench for about $60 for a pair. I bet if I waited I'd find even cheaper, but I wanted to make sure I got solid tix for the UM game.
Go Blue!
also as a side note, my teenager will suddenly get sick Thursday morning and have to miss school... very sad future illness.
For those interested:
Section 102. A lot of seats available for <$30, section behind and to the right of UM bench. (Stubhub had cheapest tix when I was looking, but you'll find them on all the sites)
I'll be there!
Living in the DC area, I need to go while I have the opportunity. The attendance will likely be so pathetic that the BTT will never be held here again.
