Maurice Hurst, Henry Poggi, and Dymonte Thomas Good News

Submitted by MJ14 on

But now, as bowl practice rages on, Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison believes Thomas is turning a corner.

"The thing with Dymonte, you can put him at a position now (and leave him there)," Mattison said this week. "We've worked him a lot at nickel, and he came (Tuesday) with blitz, and we were like 'wow, that's what we're looking for.'

"For him, it's important to settle in at one position and just become as good as he can be right there."

Sounds like Dymonte is settling in at NB and might get a chance to play some more downs in the bowl game. If nothing else, he's really progressing and learning and should be ready for next year.

"Both (of them) are going to be guys who contribute in a big way," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said. "Mo, I think he's won the scout team player (of the week) three or four times. Henry's won it a couple times.

The article talks more about how Poggi and Henry are playing great in bowl practice. It also includes this little bit of information about Poggi:

"This poor guy, he had two months where he couldn't do anything, and then he hurt his shoulder after that," defensive coordinator Greg Mattison said of Poggi. "All of a sudden, now, he's healthy. And the things we saw when we recruited him, you're seeing on the field.

I had no idea Poggi was injured for a while. It's good to hear he's healthy now. Here's the link to the article: http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2013/12/michigan_dts_henry_po…

Good news to hear for sure. I never knew that Poggi was injured, though. So pumped to see what Dymonte Thomas can do next year(maybe get a glimpse in the bowl game, perhaps?). Michigan's going to have a whole lot of speed in the secondary next year! And as soon as the BWW bowl is over I will already be looking forward to next fall.

because we no longer have Heiko.  Straight from the press conference.

Hopefully we are able to get a replacement for Heiko for next year.  I do admit that Heiko was one of my favorite parts of Mgoblog coverage.  He was always a great mix of being informative and entertaining.  Hopefully the next guy pulls it off too.

Also, Brian predicted Hurst would be good based on burst off the line from his high school tape so good to see that is coming true.

Because Heiko would ask questions from posters on the site or just stuff we wanted to know.

Now it's 99% fluff questions or ESPN-style beat the dead horse (eg. asking about Devin's injury) questions.

Some of us care about the guys who get no press, not the obvious stuff that anyone can find out.

There was a ton of hype about Clark too, but while he had a solid year, it didn't seem to match the hype he received in the fall.  But there was always seems to be a player or two that gets a ton of hype out of spring and/or fall and then on Saturday's in the fall you wonder what the hype was all about.

I'm sure Frank Clark deserved all the hype he received from practices, but the only thing is, he was going up against our OL, so of course he looked like an all-american. How many sacks do you think he'd have this year if he played against our oline every game?

The person (lady) was sitting at the reception desk wouldn't allow them, said coaches are in meetings, kids offered to wait she said no. Coleman is a very nice woman let students in house and recommended send the video to a certain staff member and have them deal with it.

For what's in the video.. Cnn compensates, espn doesn't.... I.e cnn offers you money to take the video. The stuff in the video is extremely powerful and messed up would cause a shit storm for the school. Especially if green pans out bc the OL quote un quote said "he's a n***er and deserves to die" and went on and on, and said green fumbled 3 times in practice scrimmage so wasn't going to start over fitz or get PT (at that time)

Then they asked poggie if recruits get paid he said hell ya, you get what u want but Michigan doesn't pay, they asked if Alabama does and why didn't he go to bama he said they give u everything, including sex then said he didn't go to bama bc of n***ers

Not saying it's not true, but you see a video on a cell phone of a Michigan player making racist comment. Don't be kid, if it's true you contact the athletic department with everything you know. If it's true you would be helping this kid out more than you know.
