Matt Barkley Out Against ND
Matt Barkley will not be playing against ND this weekend. Max Wittek, Rivals 4-star, #76 overall, #3 Pro-style QB in 2011, will start instead.
ND now has a wide open path to the national title. I don't think that I've ever seen a worse team get so lucky.
Oh, and don't forget the worst case scenario: ND wins the BCS game and Ohio is awarded the AP National Championsip.
I'm going to go and find a dark, musty corner to cry in.

This is all set up for a crushing USC win. How great would that be?

I'll gladly take an all-SEC game over the Domers in the championship.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:57 PM ^
A thousand year reign of the SEC rather than a single year of the Irish as national champs.
November 19th, 2012 at 10:41 AM ^
Just when I thought that piece of stone was discredited, ND is going to get a shot to play for the National Championship. All bow before Saban, et al, before letting our regional, recruiting-doom,rivalry contract-breaking false god of smugness win. All hail the SEC! All hail Saban!
A ND NC appearance - much less a win - means nothing but bad juju for Michigan. The world, writ large as well, but especially for us. There is no such thing as 15 mins of fame for that Babylon.
A world with every subway Domer beaming is a world I can't hack.

Problem is, when it's ND, those 15 minutes turn into 15 years of media hype.

Saban (or whoever they play) with over a month to prep for the game will absolutely own the Irish.

How would OSU be voted ahead of an undefeated Notre Dame team for the AP title?
November 18th, 2012 at 10:20 PM ^
Ohio would be the only Undefeated team left I think...but were going to
BEAT OHIO
so theres no chance Ohio gets the AP title

a much easier schedule than ND #54 compared to # 33. This is without playing UM. Um is #38 without playing OSU.
Unfortunately ND's Defense is rated # 1 scoring defense in the nation. Their offense is coming together, so I don't know what to expect, guess I won't watch the NC game if they are playing.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:56 PM ^
It's just ND's year. Watch them play Bama in the Championship game and 80% of the Bama players will come down with the flu.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:01 PM ^
They'd have to come down with Ebola to not thump ND by double digits.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:41 PM ^
Sure why not...it has been that kind of year for ND this year. Oh well, we had our chance and completely crapped the bed.

ND wins that game and goes to the NC ... and gets clobbered by Alabama.
Then? 2013 winter turns to summer and we forget all about it. We start thinking about Michigan 2013. Life goes on.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:49 PM ^
uses ND for toothpicks at this stage. The world is a cruel place and there is no justice, so. . . where was I going with this. . .
November 18th, 2012 at 9:51 PM ^
Byu, Stanford, Pitt, and of course the game against us all should have ended with a different result. Instead we have espn and all these other college football experts praising their every play call. I understand BK has won everywhere he has been. I also understand that they have recruited well the past several years. I just cannot believe how much luck they get. They get to go to a title game to which I am sick to my stomach, there are so many teams better then them.
I hate Alabama so much but they are at least a legit team. My hope is that ND loses so badly to Bama or Georgia that they come into the following year down and out.
I guess I'm really just tired of seeing Brian Kelly smile instead of his head exploding every week.

boned. Wait'll next year. Oh, they don't want to play us anymore.
November 18th, 2012 at 9:54 PM ^
cant stand ND...but their D is more than good enough to handle that Bama O and in a 60 min game the way the season has gone, I wouldn't bet against ND at this point. They have passed every test one way or another.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:13 PM ^
I'd bet against them and I'm pretty sure if it happens Vegas is going to need to put up a huge line to keep all the money from going on Bama. Bama's O-line would maul ND. 3 first round picks on it. ND would have no shot of moving the ball on that D either. Texas A&M had two tackles projected to go in the first round and Johnny football. ND's simply doesn't.
November 18th, 2012 at 10:46 PM ^
Bama's line is not going to maul ND's front 7... Bama ran for 122 and 3.9 a carry against A&M - ND has a better rush D than A&M - #5 vs #35... Bama could wear down ND and move the ball through the air against them but that ND front 7 isn't getting mauled by anyone.
November 18th, 2012 at 11:12 PM ^
That's one game and Bama was behind the entire game (and it was 4.65 without the sacks). Bama ran it down LSU's throat for over 7 yards a carry against LSU who has a pretty good D-line , one tha may well produce to top 10 picks in april. Maybe not maul, but they would have no trouble running the ball on them.
