Mark Dantonio won't be outdone by Jim Harbaugh

Dantonio better enjoy his brief encounter with "elite status," because he is about to get the quintessential "rude awakening" this fall and many thereafter.

The rude awakening

for the Rick Rude reference, and awesome gif link. The quintessential WWF mid-card heel. Between him, Mr Perfect, and the Honky Tonk Man, you had a run of probably the greatest Intercontinental Champ heels in history.

and will have a few games under our belt before we play them. Jim will have them ready and believing they can win. I like our chances.

We've only had Sparty at home once in the last four years and we played terribly but still won the game. Total game changer getting it in Ann Arbor, we'll have a good chance.

History is a guide too - the last Michigan coach to win his debut against Michigan State was Oosterbaan (I believe). Here's to JH reversing that trend.

I get Dantonio has the charming attitude of a man circumcised 3 inches too far, but the man can coach. If Hoke had produced 4 11+ win seasons in the last 5 years, he would be hailed a genius here.
I do not think they are simply going to go away, I think that MSU and OSU should be looked at at the top two targets that need to be beaten and treated with the same level of intensity these next few years....tired of talk, waiting to see results before chatting up how a new hire will immediately change the very distinct level of ass kicking that has occurred in way too many Spartan wins in the last few seasons.

I think Mike Hart's "Little Brother" comment was uncalled for and Dantonio's response to an immature college kid was most unfortunate.
Yet, he's shown himself to be a great talent evaluator and a helluva coach. If he had been coaching all this time in Ann Arbor, his record and gruff exterior (Bo was no teddy bear) would make him beloved.
I respect what he's done in East Lansing. Same with Izzo.
Hopefully, Harbaugh will bring even greater success to Ann Arbor. We'll see.

He belongs there more than any coach. Not only is he a top of the line coach, but his team is the only one in the country that played both of these teams this year.

He will be outdone.

"Both teams beat my ass this year"
January 9th, 2015 at 12:44 AM ^
And they beat it bad! Putting it in perspective, they lost by 19 points and 12 points, not exactly close games. And where was the VAUNTED sparty defense as they gave up almost 50 points to each. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame MD, it will soon be coming to an end! And when asked about the JH hire, Urbz was at least professional and somewhat complimentary, while MD was his usually prickish self and didn't want to talk about the hire. Don't forget Marky, Pride does come before the fall!
January 9th, 2015 at 6:03 AM ^
...MD is prickish about everyone. He always looks like he has a splitting headache. Obviously, he's worse about UM than anyone else, but this is not a warm, fuzzy guy toward anyone.

on his face in the photo. If he actually did smile, his whole face would crack in half.
January 9th, 2015 at 7:18 AM ^
about the JH hire, he just had to get a dig in: "They have done that a few times lately". What an asshole.

All they had to do in each game was to convert that one play that gets you 20 points and they'd have been undefeated.
January 9th, 2015 at 12:26 AM ^
Is right in front of them, but they refuse to see it, which will make it all the sweeter when we beat them this fall.

Sack of doorknobs?

i disagree!!

There's a picture of Dantonio in the dictionary next to constipated.
January 9th, 2015 at 5:54 AM ^
Agreed - his normal resting expression is that of a man who hasn't taken a dump in 10 years.
Which is why I always refer to him as "Mark of Magnesia."
January 9th, 2015 at 6:12 AM ^
... because of the world's most painful anal fissure.
January 9th, 2015 at 8:28 AM ^
Could be the start to a great thread, could even top the dog's anal gland thread. Maybe.
January 9th, 2015 at 11:07 AM ^
Sam Webb suggested that Dantonio is clearly in need of some Preparation H. Now I can't look at that guy's face without thinking "hemorrhoids."

"Mark of Magnesia", Glorious!
