That's not my point. Regardless of whose "fault" the losing record was, they're pretty nasty when talking about Bo or Lloyd. That's fine, but don't then turn around and insist that I owe MD even an ounce of respect.

And if they want to blame Bobby Williams and John L for Carr's dominance (though he was 3-2 against them under Saban as well), that's fine too, but a decent chunk of Bo's ownage of them was against Duffy and Perles, two of their heroes.

Exactly, MSU had some fairly decent teams under Perles and Saban, and Bo/Moeller/Lloyd still owned them. Hell, Perles constantly had rumors swirling around him about potential NFL head coaching gigs. How many people have come around to poach Dantonio away from MSU? Right.

When Dantonio wins against a rejuvenated Penn State, a rejuvenated Michigan, and OSU, he'll have my respect. Until then he's just a good coach with a one-hit wonder of a season under his belt.

I definitely acknowledge his record is impressive, but I think the reason Michigan fans like to use the "lack of interest from the NFL" stick to beat Dantonio is because State fans like to be deliberately obtuse about Harbaugh's time at Stanford: "Hur-hur, 29-21 and we're supposed to be scared of this guy? LOL," when they can see damn well that the upward trend was unmistakable, and the reason success at Stanford didn't continue in Years 5-8 is because Years 5-8 were spent in the NFL, you know, where really good college coaches get offers from.

I don't know what MSU fans you have been talking to.....but anyone who thinks Harbaugh is a mediocre coach or that 29-21 is anything close to what he will be at UM.....they are nuts. He excelled at Stanford, San Fran, San Diego.....gonna recruit like a madman. And unlike Hoke will be able to develop those recruits. As long as Harbaugh is in ann arbor, MSU fans will be scared. Not because Harbaugh will trample him, Dantonio isn't just going away. But it will be a heck of a lot harder to beat UM every year. I am not sure how it will turn out. But MSU will finish in the top 5/6 2 straight years now. Not like their recruiting will get worse. They aren't going away. I think both teams will be great.

Dantonio will probably get that douchebag scowl on his face and then snort about how he doesn't want to talk about another team and instead steer the conversation to a breakdown of the Cotton Bowl

It seems like he's ... putting a stake in the ground here!  My stars!  What will they think at the B1G Cotillion?

Honestly, though, if he wasn't a douche to begin with, his words aren't bad.  What's he supposed to say?   "Gosh, it's been a nice run but it's gonna be impossible to keep up with a jackhammer like Harbaugh, especially with UofM having all the institutional advantages it has.  They'll finally develop the talent they've got, and now we'll actually have to play games in Ann Arbor again.  We're doomed."

You assembled a group of four personalities and Mark Dantonio is more likeable than half of them.  I wouldn't have thought that possible.  Replace Cari Champion with Jemele Hill and Dantonio would have been #1.

First the news comes out that JH is on the NC broadcast and two days later the Sparty News (aka Freep) announces Dantonio on all these lesser media events.  No question they heard about all the media buzz Harbaugh is getting and decided they needed a counteroffensive to keep the Sparty brand front and center.  It will be really hard for Sparty to compete with the media machine JH is building.  Almost every day there is another major story or appearance by him.  Love it.

I was thinking it was more like a deluge of misspelled correspondence from angry RCMBers, enough of which prompted the ESPN guys to say, "You know, they have a point. He did get his ass kicked by both. Do we have any segments during, like, most people's working hours, or dinner, or other times hardly anyone will be watching? OK, call him up."

That's why I really enjoyed at the press conference there was no mention of Dantonio or Meyer by Harbaugh.  No reason to add fuel to the fire.  Lets let him assemble his team before we start automatically placing W's on the calendar.

At the end Sparty has gained the arrogance due to constant winning, bowl wins and beating on their favorite rival..dont forget WE were those guys until shit the fan in 07. I think our fan base was a lot more arrogant and i think karma has caught up with us and has tought a huge lesson the past 7 years. I hope JH is the break we all needed. Osu on the other side hasnt skipped a beat, and why football gods like them i dont get it.
In order to gain the arrogance again we need to win and kick some ass period, no need for excuses anymore. Sparty playes us like its their superbowl because MD builts hate in their souls for this school..I hope JH does the same thing.

Seriously, why do you think it will end soon? Just their run againt UM? Against everyone? Winning 11 games in 4 of 5 seasons. Even if Harbaugh wins UM a couple of national championships I am not sure why MSU would fall off much. It isn't like MSU is pulling recruits over UM currently. Why can't both teams be good?
