Everybody's reporting it, including ESPN.

$21.45 million buyout. I guess this makes the coaching carousel a bit more exciting

If we move on from Harbaugh this is a big problem. I was operating on the assumption we’d be the best job available this cycle.  Now there’s a job as good or better and open earlier, hard to imagine we don’t get second choice.

There have been numerous claims of Schlissil blocking athletes from being admitted and numerous claims of Schlissil not giving 2 shits about sports.  He received a vote of no confidence from the faculty in the fall.  Nobody wants him there and he doesn't want to be there according to John Bacon.

I find the first hard to believe.  The guy is basically the CEO of a multi-billion dollar enterprise.  I seriously doubt he has the time or inclination to get involved in the individual admission decisions of the football.  Where are these claims, and for which players?

As for not giving a shit about sports . . . ok? He may not like or care about it, but I'm failing to see how that translates into impeding the team.

The no confidence vote was w/r/t the reopening plan.  He's otherwise been a great president.

The no confidence vote had to do with non-sports issues. To the president of an elite school, football should be an interest but not anywhere near a priority. It’s a university, not a sports organization.  If he blocked athletes, presumably it’s because they weren’t anywhere near qualified to attend the school. You’d  prefer that the president just let in anyone the football coach wants. That’s the definition of backwards-ass and not at all what a top school should stand for.

this is so easy.  here's three reasons michigan doesn't play on the same field as auburn.

  1. admissions requirements are about...oh, a thousand percent higher at michigan vs. auburn.
  2. players have to go to actual classes.
  3. the michigan athletic department doesn't look the other way when bag men are clearly involved.

you can say that the administration hasn't "said or done" anything to indicate these requirements, which is true, i guess.  but there's no question they exist.  and i'm not sure that *any* administration - including auburn's - "says" things, anyway.

does the admissions department accommodate athletes, and admit some athletes that wouldn’t otherwise get in?  of course.

does the admissions department tell the athletic department that some recruits will not even get that accommodation, and to not pursue them?  also yes.

‘if you think the coaching staffs recruit players without confirming them with the admissions department, i don’t know what to tell you.

It’s well understood that the FB program can’t admit everyone they want. it’s been reported that they can admit a player or two each year with marginal grades. The rest may not be at typical Michigan admissions standard, but need above average grades.

It’s also well understood that Florida State has a great criminal justice program.

I'd have a tough time imagining Auburn is any better. Worst part of coaching at Michigan is playing Ohio State in a rivalry every year. Is playing Alabama in a rivalry game any better?

Plus, it seems like the top 2 choices are Campbell and Fickell. Both are Midwest guys, so I could see that being an advantage for us.

He also took the Iowa State job coming from Toledo. He didnt have many offers and Iowa State was his ticket into the P5. Now he’s a guy with a solid P5 team and hes got options between the NFL and top college jobs. Now he’s in a scenario where he can be more selective and not choose a job where the program is second fiddle.

Gosh I sure wish Schlissel would stop meddling around. He’s certainly cost us OSU*. That guy is the worst. This is not an excuse it’s totally true and totally real. He also gives the pregame speeches and hands players melatonin so we start and finish games completely flat.

*and PSU, MSU, every bowl game except 1, Iowa 2016, and Wisconsin
