even sweeter
Still calling '09 a screwjob, huh? Beautiful.
"All I've had today is, like, six gummy bears and some scotch"
What's a screwjob?
If you have to ask. You can't afford it.
I can't even remember - what was controversial about the '09 game?
Long TD run in the first half (first quarter?) called back because the refs ruled the ND RB stepped out of bounds.
ND fans maintain that it was the "shadow" of his foot that was out of bounds, not the foot itself. Or some similar bullshit.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Ridiculous complaint on a couple levels - it was the correct call and besides, it happened in the first quarter (on their initial drive, IIRC).
nothing to see here...move along... here's the zit picking jpg instead...5:40
Here's Brian's post on the overturned touchdown:
So shadows stand vertically? Did Allen defy physics according to ND fans?
They also claimed they were screwed at the very end with those 2 seconds that ticked away on the kickoff.
"All I've had today is, like, six gummy bears and some scotch"
well its true those two seconds should not have ticked off and if that didnt happen Notre Dame runs one play from the 50.. With Michael Floyd and Golden Tate who knows what coulda happened.
"You talk about trust you, gotta trust a player to win a face off, win a battle, get the puck out, or shut somebody down, i put Matt Rust in front of anyone" - Red Berenson
The clock ticked off because a Notre Dame guy bobbled the kickoff before it went in the endzone. It was the right call.
He definitely touched it. I remember turning to the guy next to me and saying that he should have let it go, and was quite pleased it would cost them a few seconds. I didn't even realize it was an issue until I got home and watched the BTN highlights.

I know exactly how they feel. I still think about that game all the time, too.
"I'll be DVR'ing the ND games and watching them later on the condition that they won the game." - from the ND forum
If nothing else, we have confirmation from Notre Dame fans that, among other uses, DVR can be used to advance illegitimate historical revisionism in the annals of college football.

Perhaps a redundant phrase. Any examples of legitimate historical revisionism?
The Horror never happened. Don't speak about it with your children.
There we go.
The re-examination of motives and decisions is a fairly regular event in the academic process of historiography, which is what revisionism really entails, but of course, it has also been used to describe the deliberate distortion of events for various reasons. In the case of Notre Dame, I am pretty sure it is the latter, more negative usage. I imagine there are a few people in South Bend still waiting for the official ruling on Roundtree's catch in the end zone.

...how Criqui is crafting this beautiful masterpiece of a storyline that will ultimately turn nightmarish for him, and in the midst of it the color guy comes interjects with some irrelevant comment about Darius Fleming and Steve Filer are coming off the edge.

I hope Lewan wasn't too skeered of their speed rusher. I'll never tire of watching this either - the sea of yellow, long after the game ended!
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
That was amazing. It was after midnight by this point and no one wanted to leave. Best postgame atmosphere ever.
This is fantastic. They all knew we were going to win after they took the lead with 30 second left!
domer schadenfreude!
Funny but I don't feel bad for them in the least..........
His foot was outof bounds by about 6 inches too. It wasn't like it was controversial at all.
903 wins most in college football
I read almost all those post's, and the sad part is they all lacked hope. When Michigan had its three down years...at least we all knew one day we would return to glory. I can't speak for all of you, but I feel like most of us still had hope. These people have no hope. They're defeated. Sucks to be an ND fan I guess. All I can say to them is....HAIL!
The problem is, they lost to us during our down years! That would be enough to snatch hope out of my heart and soul too!
"Homey don't play dat"
Well when you lose to Syracuse, Tulsa, Air Force, Navy, UConn, and South Florida at home in four years...
"Ohio is like a giant turd that Michigan just can't pinch off"
That site's forum is formatted terribly, and it's an absolute pain in the ass to navigate the comments. It makes me appreciate how well organized MGoBlog is.
USING GRATUITOUS AMOUNTS OF CAPS LOCK SINCE APRIL 2011
That and some of the Rivals threads too. How hard is it to set up a comments section, and not have them their own specific webpage? I can barely navigate one thread, let alone going there on a permanent basis
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
Do you not hang out on many boards? MGoBoards are technically HORRIBLE. Obviously, the content is very good. And yes, that site's forum is worse. But in all seriousness, there is free forum software out there with more functionality, ease of use, and reliability than what Brian is running here.
Physics teacher in NY.
to read. If we can just place the apple in redkelly's mouth one more time, he will be slowroasting in nd hell forever. . . we'll be on our way to another 3-4 years of readjustment to a new coach, by which time Hoke will rule the Greater Inner and Outer Midwestern Area 4EVR.
I feel sorry for this person.
The horror and the 08-11 seasons actually made me an even stronger/more obsessed fan. Forged in fire. (Growing up a Michigan fan in Ohio also hardened my fandom)
I hope he can find his heart again.
Pity
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
"I am 33. I was 14 for NDs last great season."
Lol
Belated BD tears!
