Confirmed by Bill Greene who is at the Cleveland 7 on 7 that Fournette is participating in.
Nations number one RB Leonard Fournette in Cleveland for the NFL 7on7. Confirms he will be at the BBQ in Michigan later. Grown man.
Perfectly stated sir. Tip of the cap.
of a team like you and a running back like us...
As long as no one talks about desperately wanting to make love to a schoolboy.
...and warm. And happy.
You should get that feeling from a woman, not a 17 year old boy.
This is interesting, because if Bill is correct, he is making a trip BACK to the area, and not visiting this weekend. If that does infact happen, then we may actually be in this race. What's not clear, is if Bill Greene knows when the actual Michigan BBQ is; he may have been under the impression that Michigan's BBQ was this weekend.
Michigan actually holds two BBQ's..I'm not sure if the first one is this weekend though. I think the first one is for 2016 and local kids i'm not for sure. Heard this from someone at 24/7.
The first one is July 27. The second is July 28.
Or just allows flexibility for visits?
I thought I read somewhere that one is for the younger recruits (2015/16) and the other is for current targets (2014). I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I think it's more than likely Mr. Greene is unsure when the BBQ is.
Regardless, Fournette definitely visiting wooooooooooo!!!!!
is that 3 of Michigan's 4 primary RB targets could be at the BBQ. Hilliman is supposed to be there and Ballage is trying to attend (the other target is Mixon).
would rather have him come up for that atmosphere with all the committed guys than attempt a hurried trip this weekend. no pressure on the grill operators.
Those who grill will be champions.
The Meat, The Meat.
Meat spelled backwords spells team...
Don't worry guys, I'll spend the weekend trying to figure out what exactly this means.
Meat spelled backwards is "taem."
Yeah, but, that's like the Old English way of spelling "team", right?
you rearrange the letters in "MATE" you get the word "TEAM".
Add those together and you get "TEAMMATE"
... There are five letters in the word Blaine. Now, if you mix up the letters in the word Blaine, mix ‘em around, eventually, you’ll come up with Nebali. Nebali. The name of a planet in a galaxy way, way, way… way far away."
Is the punchline the fact that you miscounted the amount of letters, or that the post is pretty much nonsense?
... He did:
Hence the quotation marks. The "nonsense level" varies depending upon whether you've seen Waiting for Guffman.
Is that the galaxy that Staee is recruiting these days?
Dantonio lying in intergalactic weeds... You sneaky fellow you.
The thought was there though. Made for a good story and effort!
In England, meat is pronounced like maet. "The maet, the maet, the maet." Bloody HELL YES!!
How could you have any pudding if you don't eat your maet?
Ohh so close
Damn Ohio education.
This is very exciting.
This is even more exciting than Sharknado!
Blasphemy. Lest a sharknado be hurled upon you.
With apologies to Dr. Hamlet III
I chuckle every time.
I swear every time I poop at the gym and check mgoblog something great happens. Might have to stay in this stall for the whole BBQ.
To 'Diet is Tacos'
I tried it by the way. You're a dirty liar. The password is not "taco".
It's a capital T
and it gives a whole new meaning to the name Taco Pants.
He could just throw the bag in the toilet and cut out the middleman.
That there is a Mexican Pizza...Dinner has been settled, then.
Edit: Dammit. Meant as reply to Taco the gym pooper.
Surely you must be joking?
Don't call me Shirley
Surely you can't be serious?
home movies, I must admit.
I still think that looks like a video of Jim Tressell as a kid.
I thought the young man was visiting this weekend in connection with his Cleveland trip. Has he RE-scheduled?
that was my impression as well. Did he switch it to the BBQ weekend/is this the BBQ weekend/when is he visiting really?
Interesting. I had a more Burns-ian reaction to this
I really like this news, not just because we are getting a visit from the number one player in the nation, but because he's going so far out of his way (Louisiana to MI, rather than just Cleveland to MI) to visit on his own dime. If he wasn't seriously thinking about Michigan, I think he would have waited until he could take an official visit. It's still a long shot, but I like this is definitely a good sign.
I like the copy & paste action on the wolverine247 site.
Guilty. In my defense I didn't want to have to write two different posts for two different boards. So i copy and pasted mine from over there.
I used to do that when I was 14 and was dating three girls at the same time... I would have the same online conversation with each of them regardless of the context.
Really though MGoBoard. Don't neg me. 247's board means nothing to me. It's just a silly free trial. Nothing more than a fling. Not a true committed membership like the one I have on this site. You're the real deal. I care about YOU. Wolverine247 means nothing to me. You and I, we go much farther back. We've been through good times and bad, highs and lows. I love YOU MGoBoard, not 247.
He is just sitting in the corner saying what did do I wrong a2_electricboogaloo...
Don't worry. I'll give him the "it's not you, it's me" speech. He'll understand.
Brian is a jealous, Old Testament god.
There were no online conversations when I was 14. The cordless phone from the kitchen made life easier though.
I didn't even have the cordless. Rotary dial phone in the basement. Same line as the main phone on the 1st floor. Made for short conversations.
Ahhhh, the old rotary phone. How many times did you get the 6th digit dialed and then hung up when calling a girl for the first time?
Ahhhh, the only line in the house. How many times did you have to tell your brother or sister to get off the phone when you finally did get enough courage to dial all 7 digits and was talking to that girl for the first time.
Great memories. And by great, I mean, thank goodness for advances in technology.
going from EL to A2 at about 110 mph because text was something in books and newspapers, and people would be really mad if you tore the phone out of the wall and took it with you.
Can't wait to have him on campus and hear what he thinks of AA. Definitely awesome news.
That's a Bingo!
Well once he's on-campus, anything can happen. It'll be tough to lure him out of LSU's backyard, but there's a lot of great selling points:
-An offense that wants to run and pound the ball mercilessly down the opponent's throat.
-A behemoth, wooly mammoth-like offensive line in the making that will allow him to get 5-6 yards upfield before being touched.
Work your magic, Hoke
Insert obligatory "Fournette must not be a competitor."
He doesn't get tackled enough for Urbz liking.
Yeah, we know Urbz is more of an ass man.
Not to be confused with- Urbz is more of an ass, man.
at him with one of his two-handed points at the event and it's a done deal.
Quick! Someone go find the girl that Lawrence Marshall kept visiting at Staee and introduce her to Fournette. Apparently she's one of our best closers
She's laying in the weeds
Leonard Fournette is Gene Parmesan?
Would that really be so shocking? He is a master of disguise.
Any way Peppers can get in town this weekend?
Also, have we confirmed that professor needs a raise will be on campus?
Am I the only one reading this tweet and believing it says he is visiting this weekend. I know he refers to the barbeque, but the context of the tweet still leads me to believe that he is confirming what we already know: Fournette is in Cleveland for 7 on 7 and was going to visit A2 later in the week. Not trying to rain on the parade by any means, this is just the way it translates to me.
Still huge that he is visiting, whether it is this weekend or in two weeks for the barbeque.
EDIT: Supersleuthing the Internet, Kyle Meinke reports he is visiting for the BBQ on the 28th. Still unsure if he also is visiting this weekend. I feel I have contributed nothing to this conversation. Carry on.
I got a real good feeling about this one( call me crazy for sure), bt this young man comes off as a good kid through the interviews ive seen and I think the program could offer the typeof atmosphere he is looking for both on and off the field. A Green Fournette backfield behind the line we will be able to run out there with the all the options we have to choose from and possibly W. Shallman at fullback whadda ya kiddin me. Between Peppers Hand and Fournette I love how important academics are to all 3 which in my mind only helps the cause. Just got a feeling there is a perfect storm brewing and we might as fans see something unprecedented in the recruiting world that coudnt happen to a better program and university....Atleast thats the dream right....GO BLUE
Meinke's actual story is here (HERE).
Meinke does quote Peppers' recent blog, in which he says:
"First, with Leonard I'm trying to stress to him the importance of us having Derrick Green. Derrick is one of the best young running backs in the country and with him taking reps along with Leonard they could be the best 1-2 punch in the country"
As others have said, just getting him to visit is a big step, but just thinking about the potential for 5-star depth at RB in the future...wow.
There was also a Tim Sullivan article out the other day which quoted Fournette and how he mentioned that the top recruits do in fact pay attention to where evryone goes, and how it was Peppers who was primarily responsible for his interest in Michigan really and how Peppers had detailed his decision to him and why he chose Michigan. Great to see that he'll be her for the BBQ.
Real recognize real.
Jabrill Peppers for president. I'd vote for him.
Is there a list anywhere of confirmed visitors for the big house BBQ?
Here's the best I've come up with:
Might be Freddy Js most difficult comparison ever. He's sort of Adrian Peterson but bigger. Dig deep Fred
Maybe Drew Dileo could talk to him about making the transition from Louisiana to Michigan.
Breezy: Hey what up its Breezy...
Len: Oh whats up? Recruiting call?
Breezy: Yup, you know it! I've got someone on the phone that wants to holla at you.
A-Train: Metarie and River Ridge says Go Blue!
Len: Who's this lol?
A-Train: A Big Ten champion and Louisiana native Anthony Thomas, Go Blue!.
Len: Wow, Hey Mr. Thomas, thank you for the encouragement I thought you were from Metarié. Did you live in River Ridge too?
A-Train: No sir, we have someone else on the phone for you too.
Chris Howard: I won the national championship and married Gabrielle Union, Go Blue!
Len: Okay, I'm sold.
start serving Fournette and Coke?
The midwestern distributors of South American liquor's are on their toes.
