Let's go Tigers and Air Force.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
I turned on the Rutgers-Pitt game as Pam Ward was intoducing herself in the booth. I just thought "Doah!!"
October 8th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
NDBC
Heh, I get it. Very clever.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
Weird call by Zook. You go up 20-13 and rather than kick the extra point to make it 21-13, he goes for two points. Of course he doesn't get it, so it's a 7-point game.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
I'm not entirely sure he was wrong. If he gets it, it becomes a 2-possession game. It's an interesting question, and we need some statistics to answer it. Someone call the Mathlete!
October 8th, 2011 at 4:34 PM ^
Agreed. I would have went for the 2-pt conversion also because worst-scenario you are stil up a touchdown.
October 8th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
This is only a good decision if you can get it at better than a 50% rate. The national average is 40-something%, so the numbers would say to kick it, I think.
October 8th, 2011 at 5:45 PM ^
...the default option would be to go for two and you'd only kick when the situation demanded it--to go up by a point, for example. Early in the game everyone would be going for two to maximize points.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
Well LSU scored quick...
October 8th, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
My first double post ever :( I only pressed the button once too.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
A 3.5 million dollar buyout is not going to stop the Buckeyes if they want him.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Indiana's defense kills kittens.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:01 PM ^
No they don't. They'd have to grab hold of the kitten first, and there's no way they're that good.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
Geaux Tigers!
October 8th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
Does the reception for ESPNU suck for everyone else? Pic gets scrambled at times and audio blips as well.
October 8th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Did that ball just hit the Umpire's foot and go for a completion in the Penn State game?
October 8th, 2011 at 4:00 PM ^
If Florida is #17, I have no problem with M at 12
October 8th, 2011 at 4:05 PM ^
Well, they won't be tomorrow!
October 8th, 2011 at 4:41 PM ^
Unless you were thinking "higher".
October 8th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Sorry, re-reading my post, I see it was completely unclear. I meant Florida will no longer be number 17, after getting beat up in the Red Stick.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:04 PM ^
I know no one here cares, but Pitt's QB just tried the Denard QB Oh noes, except he passed it after he ran 5 yards past the line of scrimmage.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:06 PM ^
Air Force is going to score a few points, but Notre Dame might put up 50 today. That comeback keeps looking better each week--even if they turned the ball over 5 times (only four actually happened before the last kickoff).
Seriously, ND is probably going to win 10 games and put up a fight in a BCS bowl. They're really athletic and really big for the first time in almost 20 years.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
Looks like Wake is going to beat FSU. Yay! Always happy to see a Florida team lose.
EDIT: Hmmm, looks like all three of the FL biggies will lose.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:19 PM ^
Does Florida play the same D as M? Danielson just said, "in this defense you don't want to run around blocks. You want to take on the block and then make the tackle". I see Craig Roh doing this from DE in M's D this year, specifically when he steamrolled Ronnie Hillman in the SDSU game.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
It's a pretty silly description by Danielson. No one, no one teaches players to try to run around blocks, especially up front. If you run around the block, you've effectively blocked yourself unless you get really lucky. Players are taught to take on blocks and shed them.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Worst rule in college football just invoked in the LSU game. Absolute shit. Almost (but not quite) as bad as intent to blow.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
LSU's punter just ran 60 yards on a fake into the endzone...and it was called back for a taunting penalty. First time I saw that.
Edit: I don't have an issue with that rule. I don't expect perfect sportsmanship all the time, but when you go out of your way to taunt the other team, you don't deserve the points. There's no need to have that in the game.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
The trouble with it is that it gets called for such ticky tacky things. This was not mean-spirited and it was not egregious. The NCAA seems to expect it's football players to be emotionless and mechanical, which is unrealistic when you've got a bunch of 18-22 year olds guys running around.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
I don't expect players to be robots, but when your player is looking directly at opposing players and showing off, how is it not mean-spirited?
If you are in the endzone, celebrate with your teammates. All he had to do was wait a few more steps and get there. I don't think that's asking for too much.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Stupid, stupid rule. I hate how touchdowns can be called back now from celebrations. LSU just ran it on Florida and gets it called back.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
So, was that fake punt called, or a read by the punter? It looked like he was getting ready to punt, saw a wide open field, and took off.
EDIT: Type way too slow :(
October 8th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
That new celebration rule is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. One gesture and no points? Laaame.
Although taking it is also dumb.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
In other news, Oklahoma State puts up 35 on Kansas...In the first quarter. They good/ KU really really bad.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
They should make fan taunting against the rules. They do much, much worse than anyone does on the field.
Personally, I'd have thought it was dumb if they took 15 yards away from LSU on the extra point for that. Weak sauce.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
October 8th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
There is no defense of that.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
I can't believe we get this craptastic slate of games now while Michigan, OSU-Nebraska and of course the Tigers are all on at the same time.
Talk about not spreading the wealth.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
Is that new "taunting" rule an SEC only rule, or is it a NCAA-wide rule?
October 8th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
This stupidity is NCAA-wide.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
The Air Force pre-kickoff dance is really dumb.
ND 21 - AF 10
October 8th, 2011 at 4:37 PM ^
Dave Pasch announcer on the PSU Iowa game just said something along the lines of "the Legends division is wide open although Michigan might be the frontrunner"
October 8th, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
It's hard to root for PSU, and luckily our game overlaps the Ohio game so I'll be sparred pulling for them as well
October 8th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
MSU-OSU might be a somewhat hard choice about who to root against, but there is no way I'd root for OSU against Nebraska, no matter what would be better for us.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
told you right now that it would FOR SURE be the difference between us going to Indy or not? Because in that scenerio, I would root for OSU over Nebraska...
October 8th, 2011 at 4:53 PM ^
In your hypothetical, sure. Also, if it was game 11 or 12, and we knew we needed to help M , again ok. But can't bring myself to cheer for them now, without any indication that we need OSU to beat Nebraska. I'd rather we just beat them straight up.
October 8th, 2011 at 5:52 PM ^
If OSU won ugly and in a fluke manner, Nebraska would be 0-2 in the Big Ten. I wouldn't hate that.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
So I'm ok rooting for them, especially considering they are in the other division taking on a team in our division.
October 8th, 2011 at 4:59 PM ^
Minnie. IU. PSU. Iowa. NU. OSU. Purdue. What a horrible collection of challenged teams and thats half the fraking conference. Its embarrassing.
