LA DB Floyd Raven to Texas A&M..Wait...Maybe Not? (Updated)
Lose one 4 star (Willingham) add another: Reserve La. East St. John DB Floyd Raven has committed to Texas A&M.
Coulda been an early-impact guy at safety...oh well.
EDIT: Maybe not...?
East St. John 3-star safety Floyd Raven told me he did not commit to Texas A&M, despite reports saying otherwise
Despite reports Louisiana DB Floyd Raven confirms to Scout.com he has not committed to Texas A&M.

Kitchen seemed like he desperately wanted to go to Michigan, but just couldn't get the offer. Good luck to him.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
Agreed. At least he gets a free education at a great school. Not a bad consolation prize.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
I honestly have no idea
January 24th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
but its in Dallas, Texas and Coach June Jones would be fun to play for, I think.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
SMU is actually a great educational school
January 24th, 2011 at 7:32 PM ^
and yes its a good school. just ask craig james

it's a amazing school used to live near it

does this remind anybody else of RR firing.. (fox2) i think Tamu is jumping the gun a bit
January 24th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
That's odd. Oh well.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:37 PM ^
Touche, Mike Sherman... touche.
EDIT: Maybe I spoke too soon, but I'm still watching you Sherman.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
on Ravens decision but if he likes T&AM you cant blame him. i hope him the best and i can see him being very successful at safety not cornerback.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
For you 30 for 30 folks, some people just like the Trans A&M.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
Given that it wasn't clear that he was ever going to get to Ann Arbor for a visit, this isn't that big of a surprise. It will hurt more if McClure doesn't go blue.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
I wouldn't get your hopes up. The consensus is that it's a Cal-UCLA battle
January 24th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
sounds to me like Kitchen could still get an offer then.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
I think our DB recruiting i probably done. At this point, McClure might be the last DB recruit Hoke would taek a commitment from.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
Hoke's not likely to extend any more offers to DBs
January 24th, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
Yeah, if we don't get Raven, I'd rather use the scholarship on a position of greater need than on Kitchen, no offense to him. If he committed to SMU, it sounds like we weren't the only big school to pass on him.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
Wasn't Donovan Warren the same way? He was considered a USC "lock" for a long time but we all know who he chose...
January 24th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
The Jets?
January 24th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
I'm starting to understand that you really don't get jokes... do you? Or do you just have to get the last word?
January 24th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
I did get the "joke". I KNOW he chose the Jets but I thought it was OBVIOUS that we are talking about recruiting not the NFL. My bad...
January 24th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
He didn't get the joke.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
That's why it was a joke. See, you expected the answer to be Michigan. But when he anwered "The Jets," it was unexpected and humorous.
That's the way a joke works.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:43 PM ^
i love how we have to explain this.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:06 PM ^
I still remember that commitment. Just got spurned by RoJo, standing depressed in the Jug. Then, lo and behold, I get a text that 5 star super stud D. Warren verballed. It was glorious.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
Not staying for his senior year? No, wait, it was not getting drafted. Sorry, I'm still a bit spiteful.
January 24th, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
in case anyone is curious, after sitting out all season Donovan's been signed to the Steelers on a futures contract. A little late for the Super Bowl, however.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
we get Mcclure hes a solid, physical, smart player and we could use him in the near future
January 24th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
Does anyone know if he'll still visit?
If we can (I'm pretty sure) take leilon willingham from tamu we can take raven.
Oh, and has anybody thought about how awesome Leilon Willingham's name is?
January 24th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
No, he probably won't visit.
Willingham's a different case. Had this have happened eight months ago, I might agree, but a week before signing day is probably fairly secure in his commitment.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
I was expecting him to visit Alabama instead anyway. Hopefully we can pull McClure though I'm not really expecting anything.
January 24th, 2011 at 6:55 PM ^
Seeing as how he was questionable to visit anyway, and just committed to a different school with only one visit weekend left, I think it's safe to say he won't be making a trip up here...
January 24th, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
It may just be me, but I'm not really against trading TAMU Raven for Willingham.. Seems like we need the LB more at this point, but it's still too bad. He could've been a big time player for us. Hopefully McClure comes, though
January 24th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
I would agree with you, but it seems like the staff is done recruiting DB's.
Raven is better than some of the guys we already have committed, but the staff chose to honor our prior commitments. If we still want room for a QB, DT, RB, and OLineman, we can't really take any more commits outside of these positions.

January 24th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
I'm holding on. It's going to be a wild rollercoaster ride 'til signing day. As long as I don't get nauseous and puke when it's over all will be fine.
January 24th, 2011 at 8:11 PM ^
Nevermore.
edit: Possiblymore.

Bob Lichtenfels (?) reports that East St. John 3-star safety Floyd Raven told him that he did not commit to Texas A&M, despite reports saying otherwise.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:34 PM ^
Both Ole Miss rivals/scout sites are reporting that it's a rumor.. wouldn't be surprised if it happens though, A&M has been on Raven for a while, even while he was committed to Ole Miss.
January 24th, 2011 at 7:37 PM ^
really had a chance at him anyway. if we got him somehow, great, but i think i would lean towards mcclure if i had to choose.
January 24th, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
Oh well not to surprised even if he does officially commit.
