Kirk Cousins releasing a book...no joke

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

Kirk Cousins wrote a book coming out this summer. I can't stop from laughing right now. This is going to be an awesome read.

anyone who is a fan of Michigan State will buy it.  Beating Michigan 4 times in a row is like winning 4 national championships to us.  He was a key figure in that run.  They are still talking about his B1G luncheon speech up here in Lansing.  Not to mention you the uber religious folks on the west side of the state will eat that book up.  Is it being publshed by Zondervan?  That's a Christian book company based out of West Michigan.

Zonderkidz is the children's group of Zondervan, a company that is a well-known Christian publishing company here in West Michigan (Edit: Oops, I see this was said a few replies up), which is where Kirk grew up.  I have a friend that actually did the interviews with him for the book, like the promo videos.  He showed those videos to me last winter (not on the net but saved on his computer), so I guess I figured it was well-known to the public he was writing a book...but maybe not.

I'm not sure how well it will sell nationally, but I imagine it's going to sell very well here in West Michigan and of course in Sparty land.   I was told the book talks a lot about his faith, and regardless of someone's religious (or lack of) beliefs, one would have to agree there is a market for that in the book world.

I view Kirk's book the same way I view Utah's public health statistics (off-the-charts good and the best in the country AFAIK). Admirable, but at least a little odd.

Remind me again who's the little brother obsessed with everything that happens concerning the other school?  Is it us or them?

I keep getting it mixed up.  Maybe next hours MSU post will clear that point up for me.

i don't have a problem with Cousins, though i admittedly haven't followed his story all that much. other than the fact that he was MSU's qb, why do people here hate/mock him so much?

but sometimes I start to question us when the MSU related threads come pouring in. If the RCMB wasn't making threads titled "When was the last time you read a book" and topics lamenting how bro's can't 69 with their wives anymore (actually happened), I'd question who's the blogosphere side was sadder

How about an alternate title:  "How I escaped Michigan State with a good reputation and no rap sheet."  Gotta admit: it's an impressive accomplishment.

It's the book that's included free.

But seriously, agree with the general gist of the comments; it's not like Tom Gholston "wrote" a book.  Cousins was a tough competitor and seemed like a decent dude and I don't remember ever having a reason to dislike the guy apart from his choice of teams.

It's not like I'm going to go to Amazon and neg his book just cause the SOB wrote an inaccurate hit job piece on Michigan's football program a few years ago rumble rumble NON-COUNTABLE HOURS rumble rumble ARE YOU SHITTING ME rumble rumble.

Excuse me, I have to go here for a minute:

Good for him.  He always seemed like a decent guy.  Heaven knows, there are enough people at MSU we can talk about in a derogatory light, but I never assumed Cousins to be one of them.

I think Cousins has had some pretty weak statements in regard to Michigan over the past few years (Streets/Sitting on our couches), but I actually like him a lot as both a football player and human being...

I think he is a great role-model for kids, and if his book helps to motivate some kid, somewhere, it's good enough for me...

He's writing a book having never won a championship and entering his second season as a back-up in the NFL. This is a vanity press book from Zondervan to push in their book stores. With no judgment intended, this is meant to get kids who are MSU fans into Christian book stores. The only reason it exists is that he is from Holland and professes to be a Christian.

I mean, Tim frickin' Tebow has accomplished more.

Well, technically, they were honorary champions in 2010, the last year you could win such an honor before the B1G implemented the conference title game. No one viewed them as the best team from the conference that year. OSU played in the rose bowl and even Wisconsin ranked ahead of them nationally.

Kirk Cousins beat Michigan 3 times. Yes, he's a little "too" religious, and he will be a perennial backup in the NFL, but he beat Michigan 3 times. It is one thing to pick on someone who sucked, but he holds most of the meaningful records at one of our rivals and, I repeat, he beat Michigan 3 times. If he wants to be hyper religious, who cares? I think he has earned the respect of Michigan fans. It isn't like he beat nerds up in a dorm. I'm not an MSU fan, and think most of their fans are delusional, but picking on Kirk Cousins is pretty stupid.

Usually you don't credit a QB with a win unless they started or played most of a game. Kork did neither in 2008. Bryan Hoyer was thei QB then, although Kork was on the roster. Of course, he was also on the roster in 2007 when Manningham won the game in EL with a spectacular catch. He redshirted that year, but he was on the sideline, dressed and ready to play if needed.

when he walks around with the "holier than thou" attitude that he has. He has always carried a chip on his shoulder about not getting an M offer. He was a MAC QB at best, and the fact that he owns most records at MSU is a testament to how pathetic their QBs historically have been. Many find him far more grating than Tebow because unlike Tebow, he's a fraud. As his coach once said... "Pride comes before the fall", and it won't surprise me one bit to see him involved in some type of character-crushing controversy that completely discredits all the posturing he's done since he arrived in EL. He's a paper man... At best. He's a t-shirt.

but I have no tolerance for people who self-promote as "above moral reproach" and then choose actions that contradict their words. This kid played with some of the sketchiest personalities I've seen claiming to be "student athletes" and then defended them to the end when they were caught either cheating, taking cheap shots on defenseless players or breaking the law. Sorry, the kids a fraud.

....that this thread was created and has 69 replies.  Of course, I'm perpetuating it with the 70th.

The board cared enough to create the thread with 70 replies and that to me is the problem.  This is a non-story.  We SHOULDN'T care that a Sparty (a decent one at that) wrote a book.

I was an out-of-state UM student so I was one of those who just didn't care as much about the rivalry because frankly, MSU wasn't in the same class in academics or football. Even with the 4 game win streak recently, I think UM is like 30-12 since 1970 against MSU.

So, yes, maybe I do have a big brother mentality.  I'm more like....a book?  Isn't that nice....good for you little buddy....pat them on the head and move on.

I always respected him- and I'm always going to root for him in the NFL.  Good luck to him.  I, for one, will not be reading this book, but I will be sure to purchace it for my Uncle, who's a State grad.
